Sondra crouches behind a grocery cart in the frozen foods aisle, dressed to the nines, willing herself to be invisible. If she can hold on a just little longer, maybe Andy won't spot her hiding there.
How could a casual encounter with a transient neighbor derail Sondra’s self-esteem, job stability, and entire life? And, if she must be haunted by one tiny indiscretion, why must her tormentor be a gorgeous, under-aged nymph?
Will Sondra ever get her career back on track and find true happiness? With BFFs that include an intrusive book club, busybody-party-throwing neighbor, and a sex-crazed career counselor what could possibly go wrong?
Aching for Andy: One-Night Mistake is a romantic comedy novella for the sophisticated and mature. Sophistication and maturity are optional. ;)
Randi Devilkin writes romantic comedy with heart and snark. Sexy standalone novellas feature grown-up women reviving their mojo while seeking their happily-ever-after. If you’re looking for a romance novel that is reminiscent of the sweet Harlequins of old but updated to reflect today’s times and mores, this is the book for you. Author Devilkin has written a delightfully entertaining story of Sondra and Andy - two adults over 50 who find themselves thrown into the dating game. Sondra kicks off the adventure, telling her friends she just wants a quick roll in the haystack with her sexy neighbor. After all, he’s moving away. What harm could that be? Andy, on the other hand, would at least like a real date before approaching the haystack. By the end, they both get what they want. Sort of. You’ll have to read it for yourself to figure out the “sort of” comment, but for the sake of simplicity, let’s just say it has something to do with timing. While the plot is typical romance with a meet-cute, a series of mistakes and obstacles, and a coming together at the end, you may, depending on your age bracket, appreciate the time-stamped references to the 70s, 80s and 90s (ah, the good old days!). I also enjoyed the funny situations Sondra created for herself and the transparent emotions and actions of the main characters. This is a fun, light, short, humorous read. I can’t think of any other adjectives to add but perhaps you can after you’ve read “Aching for Andy.”
In the mood for a quick & entertaining story? Then this book is a must! The author tells a tale about Sondra and her dating experiences. This book is worth $2.99 and then some. This is Me. Devilkin's debut novella but thankfully there are more stories in the works. Not only is the humor non-stop but the book is incredibly well-written. The best part of this book might just be the Brazilian was debacle! Please support this new author by grabbing this novella & sharing your review on Amazon.
Sweet, quick read, which lays out the difficulty of dating later in life and navigating the twists and turns. It was humorous, sweet, HEA and definitely worth the read.
