Valor: A Messianic Journey Through Proverbs 31

Rate this book
“A woman of valor, who can find? She is far more precious than jewels.”Valor invites you to embark upon a life-changing personal journey to become God’s intended version of yourself. An encounter with the Woman of Valor, or Eishet Chayil, will challenge and encourage the courageous few who dare to become acquainted with her. The Woman of Valor is the biblical archetype of God’s beloved bride – a woman who embraces the spiritual and the physical aspects of life with beauty and grace. Solomon composed this passage as an acrostic using each of the twenty-two letters of the Hebrew alphabet. Each verse is a jewel of wisdom and insight into an eternal principle of godly femininity and strength. Valor will unlock each of these twenty-two insights as it leads the reader verse by verse through the text of Proverbs 31. You are invited to step away from the barrage of noise and confusing voices of our current culture and find refreshing clarity for your soul. Come meet the Woman of Valor in a way that provides spiritual insight and practical application.ROBIN R. LUTON is the wife of author and teacher L. Grant Luton. Together they have served the community of Beth Tikkun Messianic Fellowship in Akron, Ohio for more than twenty years. Robin has made a life pursuit of understanding gender roles and the beauty of biblical marriage. This book is a compilation of insights and understanding gleaned from years of her pursuit to learn from the Woman of Valor’s personification of femininity.

I read this book twice! Once just as a straight read. The second time, in 22 days. Reading a chapter, highland making notes as I went. So good. So glad to finally have P31 study from a Messianic perspective.

Remember when you threw a cape over your shoulders, climbed a tree and felt like Wonder Woman? This book will help you make that a reality.

when this book was first suggested to me, my first reaction was, ew, no way do I want to read yet another book about the Proverbs 31 woman and all her perfections. But this was delightful, full of refreshing insights, and realistic without watering down the deep truths contained within the familiar passage. The author is humble and relatable but doesn’t spend too much time on her own story, focusing instead on the scriptures, which I appreciated. I will return to and reference this book often!!
Some grammatical/punctuation errors that are typical of self-published books were distracting to me but probably won’t bother non-editor types 😉 other than that, I would recommend this book to all women of faith, even if you don’t consider yourself “Messianic” (p.s. Messianic is the Hebrew word for Christian, that is, a follower of Christ/Messiah)

Valor is a wonderful tool in the hands of anyone who reads it. One that should be revisited at least once a year to gain new perspectives. The author, Robin R. Luton not L. Grant Luton, has meticulously crafted a book that is obviously the result of years of research and experience. It is easily accessible, practically applicable, and generatively thought provoking. One may be tempted to think only women will benefit from reading Valor, and I don't deny the immense benefits from doing so, however, every believer will come away enlightened and motivated after experiencing this wisdom-packed volume.

As someone who isn’t really religious but wanted to be guided in this area, I felt it was practical and well written.

DNF. I should’ve known by the title, but after realizing the author and her views were Jewish I chose to stop reading.
