Sing, O Muse, of the new city of Styx, and the monsters that govern its underworld...
This boxset collects the last three books of 'The Court of the Underworld', with each book a dangerously sexy, fast-paced paranormal romance featuring the titan triplets from Hades Court.
Pithos might have been disbanded but a new power is rising from its ashes. They don't want to send the Court back to the shadows, they want to kick off a final war between gods and man, and create a new pantheon. Hades and the Court are going to need allies to defeat what's coming, and they know just the family of powerful sorceresses that can help.
Alessa Thorn believes that all monsters and villains deserve their happy endings. She prefers her clothes black, eyeliner winged and books full of hot romance. She thinks heroes are boring, so her first series 'The Court of the Underworld' centers around dark gods, monsters and villains from her favorite Greek Myths.
Thanatos 4⭐️ Thanatos, Titan of death has been in love with Hecate (über powerful goddess) for centuries but was previously not in solid form. He became solid but she was cursed to sleep. With Selene’s help (Hecate descendent) they find and free her and help her come to terms with what’s happened. She’s very worried about her daughters Circe and Medea since they know Medea is in Pithos’ hands. A lot of this book focused on Hecate rediscovering herself and her confidence. The new friendship with Hermes is cute and I love that both Thanatos and Hecate had oh shit they almost died and I love them moments.
Charon 4⭐️ Firstly, I love how Charon met Circe… when she threw a spear through his helicopter windshield when he came to rescue her. She’s been betrayed so often that it takes her a long time to trust but she always seemed ready to turn to Charon. There was only a bit of awkwardness after their first romp but after that they were hooked on each other. Circe was also scared that when Charon knew about ALL her powers, he’d leave but obviously hello Titan! They use Circe’s info to break into their lab where they have many relics and their main base. Erebus went totally nuts when he saw what they did to Madea and levelled the place they were keeping her including the whole ass building. Erebus might be the scariest of the three titans. All in all, good book, good chemistry, I like how careful Charon was not to crowd her.
Erebus 4⭐️ I love how the author leaned into the “angry vengeful badass woman” trope with the witch Madea. The titan Erebus was actually really cute with her in his way and like the other couples, could see himself reflected in her spirit. I totally fell for his devil may care persona through the rest of the series. He’s way scarier than he lets himself out to be. I love how much Madea appreciated all sides of him and he her, including their scars. Great couple with intense energy. The ending was satisfying too.
The stories that Alessa came up with and how she weaved each one into the other was incredibly enjoyable to read. Each story was unique. Each relationship and character different from the previous. I thoroughly enjoyed reading each one. Some were more light hearted than others and as the overall plot got more complex, so did the relationships between the characters. I loved that Erebrus's story with Medea, was darker than them all. He presents one way to the Court and let out his darkness for Medea which was exactly what she needed. I will say, I hated her at first. I had sympathy for what she went through but she was so ungrateful and even vengeful towards him. Thankfully, he liked all her rough edges and it worked for them. It was definitely not your typical romance and I loved it in the end. If you love stories about gods and villains then check this one out. It is worth the read!
So let me say this series is the first I’ve read from this author and I honestly loved it! I am picky! I usually hate Greek god books with a modern twitter. It’s usually over done by the author but this box set was beyond my expectations! One you feel like every story gets completed by the end of the series I absolutely hate series that end with questions and that does not happen here! Every character is unique and brings out a different side! Medea was my favorite character. Great character development and intermixing of Greek mythology. If I had to be picky I wish Medusa did more than be in her tower but I understand her role!
Books 5-7 has all the goods. Passion, spice, character, and hilarity. In regards to love story, the characters are very well developed. The reader gets to know each individual character and Thorn puts these gods in a position that makes them relatable. They go through near death experiences, thoughts of betrayal, and doubt in ones own ability to succeed. On top of that, the women in these novellas are the baddest I've ever read. They are like Lara Croft with sass and whit that I've never read before.
World building was good but I think the reader was more focused on the love story and characters more than anything else going on. Which leads me to the new villain. My earlier review of books 1-4 was that the antagonist reason for hunting gods just didn't make sense. Here, this new villain has a course of action that we all can see needs to be expunged quickly.
If there was any negative thing to say is that I'm sorry that the underworld series is over. Highly recommend this whole series to anyone.
The thought of me potentially having continued on in life unaware of this series is almost cripplingly haunting. Like, imagine. Me without these books? Awful. This. Series. Was. So. Ffffffffff-ing. Spectacular. I loved every single teeny tiny piece of it. This band of characters is going to stay with me for a long time. Seriously, please read these stories. Masterful.
I'm reviewing this one for Erebus' story, because I've done reviews for the rest of them as I read them. Definitely adult content. Medea had some rage issues. (Understatement of the century) and I liked that they delved into it a very small bit. Again, really short books without a lot of time to develop anything.
The court of the u der world was an awesome series. I couldn’t put it down. I read the 7 books in 3 days!! I loved all the characters. When a book can bake you laugh out loud and make you cry, then that is a winner. I will definitely be reading more of Alessa Thorn books in the future.
Only stopping as I dozed off while reading, and waking up an hour or so later. Exceptional read, but I highly recommend reading the first four books in this series before this. I will read these books often, for the thrill, for that rush when it all comes together, and you fist your hands, yelling, "YES!!!!"
I really enjoyed this series! I loved the authors take on the myths and how she collaborated that into the modern world. The books were great and I liked the Red thread throughout until we ended up with a climax. :)
Definitely going to read the God's of the Duat next!
I fell madly in love with the characters in this set of stories. They are wonderfully intense, addictive and exasperating. I didn't want it to end .They were so easy to love and each new character was just better than the first. Read it you will love it!
This author writes wonderful series and this is another. A little more sex than I like but not so much that I felt she was just using it as a page filler. I recommend it to one and all para-romance readers.
I highly recommend reading if you like action, humor and raunchy sex scenes. The characters are all likeable even the villain. A little predictable towards the last two novels in the series. I did read books 1-7. and enjoyed them all.
I loved this series. Very happy with everyone’s happy ever afters too. I would love for this series to keep going. Maybe some gods, goddesses, demigods, or monsters in hiding?
These stories conclude the Gods journey, I adore the way ancient mythology blends with suspense, romance and strong female characters in these books. Totally recommend these stories.!
This was a pretty good end to the series. Books 5 to 7 weren't as good as the first ser, but still quite enjoyable. I love the Greek God characters, even if there is a fair bit of literary license used. I highly recommend the series.
These are the stories that never get told of the villains and monsters, but yet you’ve always wanted to know. There’s good and evil in all things, and these are the tales that give the good.
Loved every page! Read these like I was consuming a decadent dessert. Very well written, amazing plot and great story-telling! I started with the Ironwoods and working my way back thru ALL series. Highly recommend!
Alessa Thorn always packs in the adventure, romance, and all the sexy bits in between. I would totally recommend this book if you are look for a fun page turning read.
