Okay, I'm a late bloomer who's a big DC comics fan and spent my childhood summers on the Jersey shore but I was born under a wandering star and have lived in different parts of America ever since. That's enough about me. Need to feel inspired today? Looking for something to make you root for an ordinary hero? I'm all about that in everything I write.
I love a good tale that makes me wonder about things and I love a story even more that leaves me feeling inspired or like I'm capable of doing more than I realized. That's my goal with everything I've ever written. Some of the stories I tell involve twisting, turning thrillers and others have a lot of magic.
There's something to be said for getting lost in another world and coming out the other side feeling a little better about yourself or the possibilities in front of you. That's basically the best part of life in a nutshell, no matter what kind of story I'm setting out to tell.
Warrior Magic is the eleventh book in The Leira Chronicles series by Martha Carr and Michael Anderle.
That ending! While not everything is resolved, Wolfstan Humphrey has been cut off from many of his allies, while even more of his schemes have failed him. It will troubling to see how he fights back now that he's been cornered. He still has yet to put the machine/animal creations to any use. I wonder if Lily was able to sabotage them?
Ariana is an evil genius. Completely. The whole fundraiser for the poor to have access to internet, that's secretly infected with dark magic to worm its way into the users hearts. Then there's the auction to sell off 'unused artifacts', all with fairly horrible curses or dark intentions to further infect the populace. She does this with a smile on her face, speaking of creating new alliances, and changing the future for all of magickind.
I wish there was a little more whimsy tied in with all of the magic happening in these books. Just that one moment with the magicals that live down the street showing off their skills, and Yumfucks adventures, really highlight the good of magic. Knowing there is a mermaid/under water/under ground railway for magicals was an intriguing tidbit. I did also enjoy Correk and Leira's love filled bliss throughout these pages. But, I crave the whimsy of the magic.
I hope they can save Ossonia, to save Perrom from himself. I hope they can heal the animals and magicals twisted by machine and magic in some fashion. I hope things work out...
Things are really gearing up for a final confrontation in this book.
It starts with Leira and Correk being invited to an Auction by the now Leader of the Dark Families, Ariana.
She has a whole layer of plans, in order to get the power, and recognition of that power, from everyone she deems beneath the Family but, being as crafty, and complex, as she is, she's also busy making contacts with all the various groups who hold that power right now - and she plans on betraying them all.
But Ariana isn't the only problem that Leira and Correk have to deal with, as Wolfstan Humphreys is also gearing up for his own confrontations with the Magicals determined to stop him.
But will Leira and her Allies be able to stop them?
That's a question I guess I'll have to wait for the next, and last, book lin the series to answer.
As I'm eager to learn what it is, I'm going to finish writing this review, then go straight on to Book Twelve: 'Battle Magic ', for the answer!
So, I'll catch you on the flip side, to let you know what it might be! 🤣
Alliances are made, mysteries are solved, magical menaces are brought forth. All in all a good time. This book offers more in the ways plot furthering then the rest of the books in the series. You can see it is all coming to a head. Now if only the author could write a battle scene that wasn’t confusing.
Overall, pretty good. Outside of the ending scenes of the book the story was fun and immersive. There were few flaws with the writing this time around and things moved at a decent pace. This is defiantly enjoyable reading material.
This series is one of my all time favorites & I’ve read many, many in this genre & others. The new books being added to the series are just getting better with each one, filling out the storyline with more moments that make the characters feel like friends and villains who add to the excitement. Keep them coming!
Martha Carr NEVER disappoints. If you haven’t read this series yet, pick it up. It’s an amazing series full of wonderful characters, great plot and action, and just the right balance of seriousness and humor and of course witty conversations. If you don’t care for any swearing you still will love the ongoing story.
I was really in my reading when all of a sudden my home town was mentioned. It was really a great surprise. I wouldn't of thought our two illustrious writers would know about us. Great seque guys. Thanks for the added joy. Love all your work. Don't get disappointed at all.
I highly recommend this imaginative, intriguing book, and the series & spin-offs thereof, to readers who love reading entertaining Urban Fantasy. Enjoy! One of my favourite parts of these books are the fantastic author's notes. I find them as uplifting and insightful...
Love this series. Must be read in order. Each book is an ongoing section, as opposed a complete book that also furthers the overall arc. Nothing is resolved in the books. But pieces do come together while more are added. Lots of storylines going on. Can't wait to get some resolutions.
I love love YTT! He is such a fun character! I still can't wait to see what he is doing in his room. Leira has really changed and is growing to new heights. She has come a long way. Lots of lessons in the story if you look for them. I just enjoy the adventure we are taking!
Leira as always kicking fanny! She Android Correck are so great together !! The enemy in this arc is really easy to loathe! . . . Where's the next book!?!?!? Howard S (the S stands for super fan)
Wow what shenanigans are our friends and foes up to now. I can't wait for Wolfstan to get his come uppance, and I can't wait to find out what YTT has been up to. Next book soon please.
What’s it like to be the first Bounty hunter and the Fixer’s woman? And the proud bond of the YTT enigma?? Here’s the answer. A great read that I enjoyed very much.
I’m loving this series. It’s funny, happy, sad, fast paced action as well as loving relationships with friends, family, friends and making more friends. I’m planning on reading the whole series!
So many twists - it makes this book, & series too, very difficult to put down! But wonderfully written characters & fun p!ot twists make this a go-to book for me. And it leaves me thinking & wondering... in a good way.
Decent, but no resolution, more of a continuation of the story. I like the characters and there are some plot developments but not sure it couldn't have been wrapped into the next book or the last.
Love these books would read them as on big fat book if I could
Book 11 done and 12 already purchased... Another great continuation of a great story. Only sadness will be at the end of the stories then I'll be to other oriceran books...
Liera's adventures are always fun and exciting but I also enjoy the variety of characters. The good and the bad. I'm dying of curiosity about what YF is up to in his room and looking forward to the big reveal. This book is once again an excellent read. Enjoy
Another great installment of the Leira Chronicles - the dark families are playing nice, but what is their real agenda? Is it all a front and they want to get rid of Leira and dominate?
But first, Wolfston Humphrey needs to go - everything is gearing up for the final battle in the next book. Can't wait to see what happens.
And what the heck is YTT doing in his bedroom?????
Lois and Pasty crack me up - the pair of them are 2 mischevious women lol.
