Alice and Rupert Forrester have just moved into the house Abi used to call Creepy Castle. The basement apartment will soon be ready for newlywed Bethany and Harry with baby Freddie. Alice finds an old map of the area in the college library, which leads to some exciting discoveries. Some items donated to the local cat charity cause serious problems for Abi and Danny, with Danny locked in a police cell and suspended from work at lawyers Branks, Davis & Waters, and Abi taken in for questioning. Meanwhile, life at Button Up coffee shop proceeds in the usual way ‒ a way that is often far from normal. This is the sixth and final Abi Button cozy mystery romance, taking place in a small English town.
Abi is given three sketches by Hayley her part time employee and Bethany the young lady she and Alice found living in the basement of the house Alice bought from her sister and brothers after their uncle died. The woman who runs the charity for cats, Glenda knows she is married to Danny and he is a solicitor. Glenda is afraid they may be stolen and wants Danny to figure it out for her. Only before you know what is happening Danny is arrested for handling stolen goods! What exactly is it that Glenda has given him and how is it Danny got involved? Then Alice and Rupert find something in their garden that has everyone excited! What ever could it be? Only one way to find out, read this great story by Lizzie Lewis!
I have come to adore all the characters in this series and shall miss them terribly. This book has wonderful side stories about follies and found treasure. Danny spends time in jail while everything gets sorted out. As if he would deal with stolen property! So Abi does her investigating and endures questioning by the police, runs her shop serving drinks and food, and avoids trouble...... Mostly. Great read!
After reading all the books in this series I have become use to the constant mentioning of the church and all the main characters association with it. However, Abi, to me is a very judgemental Christian and her comment about living a dog like a human threw me. Left a sour taste in my mouth.
The story has a good plot and is good, but it is very wordy and has a lot of dry spells in it. I had to actually read another book in between reading it because of thatbecause I'd get bored in it between the interesting parts. Overall, it was ok because evidently I kept coming back to it till the end.
This was a clean cozy mystery romance. Little touches of Christianity here and there, but not overly done. Definitely can appeal to cozy mystery fans of all faiths. Nice historical references, takes place in England (so American readers have to keep that in mind, LoL) I have to backtrack and read previous books in this series. Already have another waiting in my e-reader.
I thought for sure this would be a stand a lone inside of a series or I would not have read it now. There are so many references to other books it made for a difficult read for me at least. Otherwise it was an okay book to read.
Learning new things every day. I had never heard of follies in this sense before. I enjoyed this book with all of it's twists & turns. Abi & Danny & Alice & Rupert are extremely fun characters to read about & enjoy escapades with.
I enjoyed reading the Abi Button series. The series is about friendship, Faith and love. The many mysteries throughout the series keep you wanting more. The books are well written and each book contains the history of a hymn, which is interesting.
Told in first person, in an English town, the phrasing is a little different from an American perspective. Likeable characters. Solid story. Good friends. I'll look for more as this was #6.
This is the last book in the series. It left me wanting. I think she should write another one and wrap up the loose ends, like the underground chamber. The story seemed to end abruptly. Overall, I enjoyed the series and the characters.
Quite an unusual cozy mystery romance. There didn't appear to be much mystery or romance throughout this book. Had difficulty following the first half of the book.
Another good book in the Abi Button series. They continue to uncover more secrets at Alice’s house and everything seems to be coming together for the friends.
All of the Abi Button stories are nice Christian novels. No worry about foul language, unnecessary sex or torrid violence. There are mysteries and romance.
