Rate this book
The Art of Eliza Ivanova is an evocative, edgy, and beautiful book filled with the work of this exciting artist. A graduate of the California Institute of Arts, Bulgarian-born Eliza now lives in San Francisco where she created much of the art on these pages. She produces effortless movement with her sketched lines and animation-influenced dynamic touches. Well known for her portraits and figures of women and children, Eliza’s style is distinctive and rich in detail. In addition to a gallery filled with a mix of old favorites, new creations and bespoke commissions for this book, you will be invited into Eliza’s world. Enter her studio to discover her workspace and favorite tools. Eliza also shares techniques with us in step-by-step workshops to help us capture some of that dynamic movement that infuses her work. Both aspiring and established artists will benefit from Eliza’s technical tips and words of wisdom about life, work, and more.

I'm a longtime fan of Eliza's work and instantly backed her book on Kickstarter when I heard about it. I'm not at all a fan of artbooks and that's why I was so happy to find out that Eliza decided to NOT make another artbook but instead this compendium of her workflow and way of thinking. I'm truly grateful that she shares her creative and technical process with her audience in this way.

I even got a book with signature, just for the sake of it ;)

I don’t normally rate art books on here because I don’t consider it reading more than eye candy. But I LOVED Eliza’s words to her fellow artist. There is enough beautifully written narrative in here that it deserves a rating and review.

The artwork is of course knock your socks off gorgeous but it’s Eliza’s down to earth words that bring this book home. There is also amazingly helpful tutorials and insight in her work! As a long time follower of this artist it was great to get some insight on her work! And there is so much of it! Every page provides lengthy yet precious insight. So this is not simply an art book, but a beautifully written narrative.

Even me, a stay at home mom of 3, with little time and who generally likes to draw cutesy animals gets something out of this! I definitely recommend to all artists! This will be a cherished addition to my art book collection!

Got this in the mail with her first two “Raw Materials” books and tore through all three in one day. The art books are bursting with cool concepts and beautiful drawings, and her newest book is an incredible insight into her process and journey. 10/10 would recommend highly.
