Trapped in the shadows, Rainey is unable to do much more than watch while her entire life is destroyed.
While the Original Witch's plan continues to fall perfectly in place, it's up to Elijah to put it all on the line and save his hunter.
Or die trying.
Picking up from Blood Captive's heartbreaking cliffhanger, Blood Cure tests Rainey and Elijah in ways they never saw coming.
This series is perfect for fans of J.R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood, Lynsay Sands Argeneau Novels, Linsey Hall’s Shadow Guild, L.J. Smith’s The Vampire Diaries, or the TV show The Originals.
USA Today Bestselling Author of steamy PNR and fantasy romance.
Ever since my grandmother first handed me a Nora Roberts novel, I KNEW I wanted to write romance.
I love love. Crave it. For me, genre doesn't matter as long as there is a beautifully epic love story woven into the storyline.
Which is exactly why I chose to write across so many genres. Paranormal, fantasy, contemporary, suspense...no matter which of my books you choose you always know what you're getting: a love story for the ages.

Seriyi okurken aklımda Demet Akalın'dan bir şarkı çaldı sürekli...
Bittim!
He heyt! Kimden istedim acaba? Sende fos çıktın cicim🙄
Kurguya tamam diyorum. Hayal dünyası olur böyle şeyler. Ama yazarın bunu aktarma şeklini sevmedim. Bana geçmedi. Birde kimin ruhu kimin bedeninde belli değildi.
Valla anlatmaya gerek yok. Ben sevmedim seriyi.
Really enjoyed this one (for the most part), although it's a miracle I remembered everyone's name with how often new people kept popping up. Elijah is also lucky he can be real cute at times otherwise I would have never forgiven him especially with the lack of actual groveling. Heroine shouldn't have forgiven him that fast, imo, even though he was genuinely sorry, but at the same time, I'm glad she's not the jealous type and didn't dwell on it, or his past relationships, too much. Will definitely be reading the next books though, and can't wait for the fae one.
Okay, so Blood Cure is the grand finale of the trilogy, the big bad showdown, the climax of all the vampire chaos, the moment we’ve supposedly been waiting for. And look, I wanted to love it. I came in ready for emotional destruction, epic romance, and maybe a little blood-soaked triumph. But what I got was… more of the same. Literally.
You know that saying about doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results being the definition of insanity? Yeah. That. Our girl kept trying the same tactics, getting slammed with the same obstacles, and somehow still thinking this time would be different. Spoiler: it usually wasn’t.
By the time the final battle rolled around, I wasn’t cheering — I was just relieved we finally made it. And yes, she beats the big bad. Hooray. Confetti. Fangs in the air. But I can’t help feeling a little hollow about how it wrapped up. I wanted more for Rainey and Elijah. More angst, more depth, more passion, more energy. Instead, it felt like they barely got to exhale before the credits rolled.
But let’s talk about the one thing that kept me locked in like a vampire at a blood bank: Roger Freaking Clark. That man could narrate an IKEA manual and I’d be hanging on every word. His voice? Velvet-drenched intensity. His pacing? Chef’s kiss. If I stuck with this audiobook to the end (and I did), it’s 110% because of him. Without his performance, I honestly might’ve DNF’d halfway through.
This book was freaking traumatizing and fantastic at the same time because of what our beloved duo goes through! After the cliffy from book two I was already on the edge of my seat for this one and it didn’t disappoint! Highly recommend this author and this series! Love me some Rainey and Elijah!!!
This is book three of the Vampire Huntress Chronicles series and concludes the story of Rainey and Elijah. Rainey has been taken into the darkness by the Original Witch, Heather. The witch who was locked inside the wooden box that Rainey opened in Salem, but which also had the souls of another twelve witches within it. Elijah doesn’t know where Rainey has disappeared to. He realises it was Heather controlling Rainey’s body, who he slept with and is sick to the stomach. Heather is ramping up her plans to take over the world and will not easily give up her control over Rainey’s body. She sets off on a further killing spree and this leaves the real Rainey as a suspect for many of these, especially for her own partner’s killing and his lovely wife!
Jane brings a surprise to the mix, with the addition of a hunter long thought dead. The three crows were supposed to act as a warning to Rainey and are actually part of her family, which is a shock. Heather is still targeting witches to kill them and gain more powers, but it still isn’t enough for her. She has the obedience of witch Stella as well to do her bidding. She manages to sway the minds of a group of hunters and other supernaturals, gaining the beginnings of an army for her battle for the world. Elijah has to rely on his small group of friends, both of him and Rainey, to aid in getting her back. It seems the only way to destroy the Original Witch will be to find a spell and a recipe for a special potion to allow Rainey to regain her own body and mind. Her bones need to be found, so they can be destroyed and she doesn’t get the chance to get her own body back. Only worry with that is, if her bones are destroyed, then Heather will want to keep ahold of Rainey’s body and Rainey will never be saved.
Heather seems to always be one step ahead of Elijah and his group of allies, and seems to know what they are going to try to do at every move. Some of Elijah’s group are put in dangerous positions and when Heather manages to take down some succubus, she gains an advantage that will be deadly to all the males on the team and even the females if she can get close enough. Heather orchestrates some rather gruesome battles with her new powers, getting off on causing chaos and mayhem all around the city. The battle for Rainey will go to the wire and even their strong mate bond will not be enough to save them from each other, whilst Heather is in control. A sacrifice from a fae helps one side and even the Immortal Council want in on the winning side, but without helping out when the world was in danger! Some shocking scenes and brutal battles, as the fight for good over evil comes close to the wire. A very fitting ending, which swings in both directions as the battle to thwart Heather carries on, but concludes in the end with one victor. It was great to see the end of this conflict come about, but loses were hard on those left behind. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
I just can’t describe how much talent that Jessica Wayne has… I swear with every book she just manages to top her previous works. This time is no different and I honestly was gripped from the start, plus with the way she left the end of book two I was super anxious to know if there was any chance of saving Rainey. I couldn’t believe it when I read that Rainey may have vanished for good, but then again Jessica is always good at keeping us on our toes. The story flowed perfectly, the characters were great and intriguing, the twists and turns that Jessica put in were just incredible and I didn’t expect them at all. Once you start this series, you will seriously be hooked. The one thing that I loved that Jessica did with this book is release it within a short time of the second one releasing as then you wasn’t having to wait a while to get your next fix and to find out if things work out for both Rainey and Elijah. I seriously can’t fault this book, everything just worked and whilst I thought Jessica was evil for some of the events that take place, it was well worth the read. I’d recommend highly that you give this a chance because it’s just honestly that incredible and so different from other paranormal books out there.
Elijah has just watched Rainey’s life dull out and now standing before him in Rainey’s body is the Original Witch (Heather)… No one could have predicted this coming, but at the same time Elijah should have seen the signs. Rainey’s grandmother has come out of hiding even though she was pronounced as dead years ago… Rainey’s name is plastered to the murders of her ex-police partner and his wife… With so much going on, Elijah has no idea if he’ll ever get Rainey back or if it’s even possible, but now he’s got to work with everyone including Rainey’s grandmother to see if there’s a way to fix everything… however, it comes at a cost. Will he be able to free Rainey and clear her name??? Will the fight of power over the other paranormals end peacefully or is it too late for it to be saved???
This one was such a wild ride. I really do love Rainey and Elijah. There were some definite jaw dropping twists in this one that I did not expect. And we end on another cliffhanger. BUT, it sets up for the another series!
This was a solid, action packed trilogy full of great and numerous characters, all with their own things going on. There are a multitude of different sups, which I found really added to the story. Elijah and Rainey were a such a good couple. I enjoyed this, good story telling to take you away for awhile.
*Mild SPOILERS* - Satisfying conclusion to original trilogy
Overall a pretty great conclusion to the first trilogy. I thoroughly enjoyed the first two books. I also really liked this one, but I'm being a little more harsh on it since it's the final book for our first set of heroes. I appreciate that the author didn't shy away from doing certain things with some of the more important characters. I also liked that there were "permanent" (I still haven't read the rest of the series, so I don't know if some things are permanent) repercussions for the actions of lots of characters and that they have to seemingly live (or maybe not) with this. The action was set-piece after set-piece and it flowed smoothly. The stakes were high, and you could feel it. Something I wasn't too crazy about was new characters just popping out of nowhere only to never be seen again, serving no purpose, or maybe doing something someone else may have done. Perhaps this will be addressed in later books...? Another thing I found was lacking was the heroine. We spent the last two books building up her powers and what not, only to not get to see her all powerful. I felt some of the characters who didn't make it went out in an anti-climactic way, and the resolution was a bit of the same. As I said, overall, I enjoyed the series and I look forward to continuing the series.
I had high hopes seeing how the second book really captured my interest but this one regressed to book one’s level (maybe a touch lower). What a shame. (Sorry I'm writing this sleep deprived but I just want to be done with this, haha)
✅The good✅
✅Heather: I kind of liked how she was just unapologetically, pure, unhinged evil. I wish she had more depth but alas… that’s something I’ve been wishing for all the characters honestly.
✅Elijah: Still like him and I’m betting the voice actor boosts his likability by a truckload.
✅The Male part voice actor: You know how some voice actors can make or break a book? This one carries the story on his back! No question. He’s superb!
✅Occasionally inspired dialogue: Sometimes I loved what these characters had to say. It was fresh and interesting and surprisingly fitting. (when it wasn't corny and cliche as baby's first fan-fic, that is).
✅Voice of Reason: I really liked how some characters really called out other characters on their stupidity and irrationality. It added a bit of needed personality and realism to the whole situation.
🌀The so-so🌀
🌀Major Elijah event(s): there are two big things that happen to Elijah and I’m iffy about both of them. (If you read the book, you know) The one near the middle was pretty intense, which I liked and I also liked the kind of twisty irony of it (if you know, you know) but I didn’t love how we got to that point or the end result. And the one near the end came out of nowhere… I like the concept of it at first but the execution was terrible. The way it was handled presents a lot of questions and makes the magic system even more unclear and undefined. I didn’t like the solution for it either, it was so out of the blue.
🌀❌Female part voice actor: She is barely passable to fine at best and, at worst, Campy without any of the so bad it's good charm. Sadly every time she was narratoring I was just wishing for Roger Clark(Male part voice actor) to steal the show again.
❌The Bad❌
❌”And Then”/Macguffin filled: The solutions to almost every big problem in this story relied heavily on Deus Ex Machina. Nothing was really cleverly plotted and I’m convinced all the characters are dumb as rocks. The story has very “and then” flow. Because of this the story feels choppy and not really predictable on a natural front in any feasible way. The author just starts pulling solutions out of her butt. It all feels very ungrounded and improvised.
❌Rainey: Unfortunately Rainey goes back to being overly stubborn, throwing out stupid quippy one liners with the endless barrage of scum bags that pick fights with her, and moronic decision making. She’s a tiny bit less annoying because she’s no longer hostile to Elijah and at some point ends a grudge with another character but it’s hardly any growth. Also…. We get some dreaded Mary sue moments from her. (😱 noooo save her, no one wants to be a Mary sue!)
❌Same old, Same old: This book feels like it’s going in circles. The fights all have a similar energy and familiar patterns, the good guys try and fail several times but of course they do because they’re not really switching up their tactics all that much. Everything in this book seems recycled until it’s entirely mundane and you just want the book to be over. About 3/4 in and I was pretty checked out. It’s unquestionably repetitive.
❌Every Plan is Brute force: No one presents a clever plan throughout this story! It’s all Macguffins and low intelligence build barbarian brute force plans with the “hope I roll D20” wish for luck. This happens every single time from multiple characters! Where are the thinker characters? Hello? I guess this is just idiot world where everyone is a sexy bada** fighter with magic and strength and stuff but not two braincells to rub together. It's funny but also bland…
❌ Corny: the villains and heros always have to say or do something cheesy to give me a migraine. (I'm so glad this book is over, I was about to plunge screwdrivers into my eyes).
❌Lukewarm end: It wasn't very satisfying... Just meh. I really wanted to love it but didn't and I'm a forlorn for it.
Potential and shining moments but it didn't quite reach the standard. It's just your average junk food read... I don't regret listening to it on Audible but to be honest that's because the voice actor (Roger Clark) carried this trilogy like a champion. 3⭐️
“Blood Cure”, the third book in the “Vampire Huntress Chronicles” by Jessica Wayne, a paranormal vampire romance with thriller elements that follows Rainey Astor (FMC) a former police detective based in Billings (Montana) and her male partner (Elijah) is even better that its predecessor 😊
“Blood Cure” follows seamlessly the events depicted in the previous installment (Blood Captive) as Elijah struggles to regain hold of himself after Rainey’s sudden disappearance while having to focus on the aftermath of the previous battle, and dealing with a gravely injured Jane which lead to an impressive revelation. Meanwhile Rainey is going through hell, lost in unending darkness and haunted by uncertain memories.
The book is very well-written in Jessica Wayne’s fast-paced and crisp style, full of twist and unexpected developments and sudden turns in a rollercoaster of events that will tax Rainey and Elijah, and their relationship, beyond everything they have experience before. The change of perspective from Elijah’s POV to Rainey’s POV enables the reader a better understanding on the ramifications on the story, and the developments that will eventually leads a brand-new chapter in Rainey’s & Elijah’s lives, and will let them eventually standing on a cliff 😉 eager to start anew
After being really impressed with book one, I got through number two and this one quickly. The elements I loved in book 1 are still here. I didn't review book 2 as I knew I'd be reviewing this regardless of the rating. The reason for the 1* reduction is that is just became to busy. The pace was still good although some of the fight seems became a little repetitive. The main issue was the amount of additional characters that seemed to be thrown in. Given most of them were only mentioned in passing, it didn't appear to be needed. The ones that were in the first two were still well written and grew along with each other. The addition that really worked was fergheus. Given where the series is about to be continued, I'd have thought Cole might have been more involved as well. I'm definitely going to read Dels story as I think that will be interesting. One thing I didn't mention in my first review which also applies here is that I wanted to thank the author for not trying to write an Irish character with a comedy Irish 'accent'. It drives me made when authors try too hard with both Irish and British characters to show where they are from and it just comes across as very bad stereotypes. 😉
So much fighting and planning to take Heather out!
The war is started as Heather uses the clubs as her killing grounds. Supernatural race by supernatural race. Meanwhile she also kills people dear to Rainey & leaves evidence behind. Now the cops are gunning for her. When someone figures out how to save Rainey from cohabiting with Heather Rainey has suffered so much. She saw things and did things that will haunt her forever! If it weren't for Elijah I have no idea how she would have moved on. He truly is her soulmate. Fearghas, a fae who wants to help with the war becomes invaluable to Rainey. I love how he convinces Rainey she will need help to take Heather out. I adore this fae! He's the voice of reason for the whole team. I would hate to be in Elijahs shoes when he had to explain Agatha and the ravens. You have to admit the crowd are funny when you learn the meaning behind why Rainey kept seeing them. I hate that a few died, but it was war you know someone had to or the boo wouldn't be realistic. However, I love the surprise at the end. It was great and I can't wait to learn more about this character!
“Like an addict, I crave his body, his mind, his very fucking soul.”
Gosh, that ending was painful! All in all, this was a fast paced, haunting and intriguing trilogy. Rainey and Elijah’s romance was beautiful and I enjoyed both the characters for their loyalty and fierceness.
The range of side characters was great; ranging in age and personality which kept the novel exciting. I loved the dark and twisting plot and world, the different species, even if they were rarely friendly, and the pace of events.
A few downfalls for me were the lack of description and how the trauma and events that each person went through was only brushed upon without much further mention, and Rainey’s character arc was quite up and down, making a lot of rash decisions that didn’t fit her; made me feel a little disjointed from the story and unable to connect with the characters the way I love to.
There were a LOT of characters to keep straight. There was no graphic sex, though there was sex. There is considerable swearing and a very EMO vampire. By that I mean that Elijah is constantly going on an on about how he can't lose Rainey and how much he loves her and on and on. There was one point where he did mention that he was making fun of himself by saying something along the lines of "Did I mention that I love her?" That rather made up for everything. It was funny. Most of the book was not funny as there is a war beginning to start and a lot of people are trying to stop the main warmonger from getting the move on.
The trilogy was good. It kept me turning the pages and I did really enjoy it. If you don't mind over the top, every other page battles and fighting and death besides the declaration of "I can't live without you" scenes, then go for it. I didn't mind any of it - Like I said - I enjoyed it. Ready for the start of the next trilogy.
OMG this action-packed, fast paced, well written installment had me on edge the whole time, with unexpected twists and turns and an amazing plot that blew my mind, trying to process all that was happening!!! 😲🤯 While Rainey and Elijah's bond is stronger than ever, the events unfolding before their eyes are so shocking and gut wrenching, only having each other is what is keeping them standing and willing to fight and kill Heather 😓💔😭 Loved the amazing team they formed and how they all had each other back, putting aside any differences or past grudges... This is what made the difference between failure and sucess!!! 🤗💞 #teamwork #strongertogether Going to miss Rainey and Elijah, but so excited for what is coming next in this awesome world... This is a MUST read series!!! 😍❤️
I started with book1 & was hooked more so because each book finished as a major cliffhanger! So unless u like a cliffhanger don't start reading.
In book 1. We meet Rainey who is a police detective but also a hunter. Rainey has a sassy mouth that will get her into trouble, but Elijah quite liked her sassyness. The banter between them is fun. Fun isn't something neither have know for a long time.
Someone's got it in for Rainey so they pair up for the greater good.
Over the 3 books the pair meet new and old friends & alliances to fight together for the bigger picture.
Well worth the read If u read all 3books together that is in glad I didn't have to wait months before the next release date. Just have to wait for Delaneys story now.
I LOVED this series. I think it was spectacularly written! This one picks up right where we left off. Thank goodness, because there was some bombs dropped. Haha. I really enjoyed the new characters we got to meet. There are reunions and some really sad moments, especially for Rainey. There is also heat and mystery and transformations, and im trying not to give much away because it was so good and there were little twists that I for sure did not see coming. This was very well written and it never dragged. I cannot wait for the spinoff!! But you have to read this one to know who that one.is about!!
I was ready for this story to end. This is the third book; you have to read them in order. I might wait to continue Delaney’s story because I have a feeling it’s just going to be more … insecurity. Love making. Deadly danger. Very coincidental saving. Insecurity. Love making. Deadly danger. Very coincidental saving. Repeat a thousand more times…..
The writing is good and I like the character development. I was a little surprised how many coincidental saviors showed up in the nick of time, especially at the end, but it’s an early book. I know the author gets better. Maybe I will move on to Delaney….
Oh Man!! Oh Man!!! Does this book have it all. Action, romance, danger, heat and steam, and everything in between. Raniey, Elijah, Jane, Tarnley and the rest are trying to stop a war they may not win. When things get bad will they be able to save the world or will evil win? This book pulled me in right from the start and had glued to my kindle not wanting it to end. I laughed, cried, smiled, and fell for thes characters little bit more. This is my top read of the year and I can't wait for to read what she had next.
Totally AWESOME!! If you want to read an exceptional book that will have you binge reading until the wee hours of the morning and rushing home to read it, then grab this totally gem of a book, it has adventure, steM, white knuckle moments and some crazy things going g on and one bad arse lady with a very hot guy by her side, fantasy mixed with originals make up for a fantastic book!! Cannot wait for the next one that will be about her sister, bring it on!! This book was reviewed by a Book Loving Vixen
I was super excited to read this book, after the way Blood Captive ended i kept thinking what Jessica was going to throw at us and damn! She did not disappoint! Blood Cure picks up exactly where it should and Jessica kept giving twists that i totally did not except, and it was amazing! The characters kept growing so much that i'm sad to see them go but i can't wait to see what Jessica is going to do next, and, who knows? Maybe we will see this super powerfull and hot couple again, with Jessica everything is possible.
This was a good continuation of this series. This book picked up fluidly from the ending of book 2. I find myself falling into this world and loving what I am reading. For me this book has all of the things that I look for in my fantasy reads. I love action, humor, twists and turns, a little bit of everything and this story has it. I found this hard to put down and I loved it.

A white knuckle ride in the concluding book of this trilogy, please read these books in order this is definitely not a stand alone. There is plenty of action and angst in this series throughout and this concluding book will have you engrossed from start to finish. As I said in the reviews of the previous two books this is a well written, exciting series with believable characters and great worldbuilding. 5 full stars.
I really enjoyed the first book. The second was fairly twisty the third fell a little flat. I got tired of reading pages of how much the main characters needed each other. The main character is supposed to be this super bad ass but she does nothing to save herself. I did like the themes of the different groups coming together and the concept or a "scooby gang." It wraped up ok. Glad I finished it but wouldn't buy it and reread it.
Didn’t enjoy this one as much as the previous books in this series. There was a lot of “I’m going to kill that bitch” but not much follow-up to that statement — well, let me rephrase. It took a long time for plans and actions to happen. I understand why that is but still…
I do love all of the paranormal creatures in this series: hunters, vampires, shifters, fae, sirens (and probably more). The magic is everywhere!
Heather sure was a nasty piece of work! It’s no wonder she was killed and her soul locked away. So many lives torn asunder, so many die. What a bloodbath! So many are different factions after Rainey it makes your head spin. And through it all Elijah is there with her. Until Heather gets her hands on him…then all Hell breaks loose. You must read this to find out what the outcome is.
I have submitted this review after listening to the audiobook of this title within the series set box. (Audible Membership)
So, in the attempt to subdue the "original witch," how was on her way to taking over the supernatural world, the concoction that was to strip her of her magic ends up being funnelled into the wrong person.
This is the only attempt that goes wrong, but the good guys just won't give up trying.
Rainey’s body is now controlled and she’s in the shadows. Elijah doesn’t know how he will go on without her; it’s not an option. I love how Jessica Wayne weaves a thread of detail to create twists that surprise me. I especially like the devotion Elijah shows and Rainey’s determination in Blood Cure.

This is the 3rd book in the author's Vampire Huntress Chronicles series and each book gets better as you get pulled further into this amazing world with memorable characters Rainey and Elijah. I read this entire book in one day cause there was just so much going on! I loved it!
