Supercharge your virtual meetings with evidence-based practices from an award-winning team
The shift to virtual meetings was sudden and often traumatic for businesses across all industries as they responded to the global pandemic. Rather than focusing on what worked best, they focused on what worked now . . . which meant closing up the office and being suddenly virtual in nearly every meeting, often without the tools, the training, or the expertise to optimize the new "kitchen table" office. Thankfully, businesses are beginning to be more purposeful in both the tools they use and the approach they take.
This book seeks to be a definitive guide for businesses looking to make their meetings as effective as possible in the ever-evolving "new normal"--leveraging insights from some of the foremost thought leaders in meeting science and on-camera communication.
This book will:
- Highlight new research insights springing from the rapid and exponential adoption of virtual meeting technology
- Discuss the problems, challenges, and pitfalls of meeting in this new modality
- Provide practical, actionable best practices, backed by meeting research that lead to more productive and effective virtual meetings
Perfect for executives, managers, and employees at companies in all industries and of all sizes, Suddenly Virtual provides practical and actionable best practices that lead to more productive and effective remote meetings.

Absolutely EVERYONE should read this book! Seriously. If you conduct any piece of your business through a virtual platform (and who doesn't these days?), this book should be in your queue. The authors provide excellent insights as well as practical advice that is immediately actionable. As you read, you'll find yourself constantly saying things like, "Yep - I've experienced that," and "Oh wow - that would have helped a lot!", and "Oh no - I think that I do that, and I should not be doing that!" The book is a joy to read, simply because it will inspire you to create better meetings that actually don't give people (or you) "zoom fatigue". Highly recommend!
A really good look into the science behind virtual meetings. Not my typical read but I learned a lot and it is very helpful. This was a beta read and I am married to one of the authors, in the interest of openness. But this is due out in the new year and it’s going to be fabulous if you ever have to do virtual meetings (and let’s be honest, who doesn’t these days?).
Beta read for me. I thought it was better than their Suddenly Virtual book that came out earlier this year. A great look into how to do a hybrid meeting approach, from leading the meeting, attending the meeting (either virtually or in-person), to the tech and setup of the rooms. The future of meetings is changing (slower with the Delta variant true) and this is a really great way forward.
I liked the book - easy to read, down to earth, good examples, check-lists. Potentially could be a bit smaller as a few thoughts were repeated quite often but overall - very important piece for remote or hybrid employees these days. I’ve recommended it to my colleagues already
