New York Times Bestseller The Bob’s Burgers Burger Book gives hungry fans their best chance to eat one of Bob Belcher’s beloved specialty Burgers of the Day in seventy-five original, practical recipes. With its warm, edgy humor, outstanding vocal cast, and signature musical numbers, Bob’s Burgers has become one of the most acclaimed and popular animated series on television, winning the 2014 Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program and inspiring a hit ongoing comic book and original sound track album. Now fans can get the ultimate Bob’s Burgers experience at home with seventy-five straight from the show but actually edible Burgers of the Day. Recipes include the "Bleu is the Warmest Cheese Burger," the "Bruschetta-Bout-It Burger," and the "Shoot-Out at the OK-ra Corral Burger (comes with Fried Okra)." Serve the "Sweaty Palms Burger (comes with Hearts of Palm)" to your ultimate crush, just like Tina Belcher, or ponder modern American literature with the "I Know Why the Cajun Burger Sings Burger." Fully illustrated with all-new art in the series’s signature style, The Bob’s Burgers Burger Book showcases the entire Belcher family as well as beloved characters including Teddy, Jimmy Pesto Jr., and Aunt Gayle. All recipes come from the fan-created and heavily followed blog "The Bob’s Burger Experiment."
Attention is rarely called to the pun-riddled name of the burger of the day in Bob's Burgers. It's always funny, but it's generally a throw away joke. Often they're burgers you can't really imagine, especially not in a dingy diner like Bob's. Do The Brussel? If there's a restaurant that sells a burger with Brussels sprouts, one would presume white table cloths at the very least, not a Formica lunch counter.
This book is brilliant, because it takes those jokes and provides actual recipes for the burgers. While I've yet to try my hand at the Every Breath You Tikka Masala, I can vouch for I've Created A Muenster, It's Fun To Eat At The Rye-MCA, and the basic instructions of this cook book. More than anything, this book lays the foundation for great burgers with clear, concise, comical directions. It's a lot more fun to read that "breadcrumbs are the marriage counselor of the food world," than some long drawn out explanation, or worse no explanation at all.
I highly recommend this cook book, especially for fans of the show, but really for anyone interested in upping their burger game.
I LOVE BURGERS! Want to be a 'burgermeister' at your next BBQ? Then read this book! Some very innovative burgers that are just waiting to become favorites! Really like the show, so I was very happy to see this book. Hope to see follow up books in the future - till then there is more than enough stuff to grill here!
So, last night we made the Onion-Tended Consequences Burger (caramelized onions and chèvre). And watched the inspiring episode. Mine was with Grass-fed beef ; hers a portabella. Both on own=made rye hamburger rolls.
I love the show & the book has the same humor throughout with some surprisingly very tasty looking recipes. The opening pages teaches basic burger technique and gives readers helpful info on both preparing & cooking burgers & fries. I would try a few of these out, especially the parsnip fries. Great for fans of the show or just fans of really imaginative burger combos,
Can confirm that the Every Breath You Tikka Masala Burger is a smashing success. Most of the rest of these recipes sound delightful as well, and what really struck me is the spirit of creativity that went into each one. I've never even imagined some of these combinations on a hamburger, and I'm still not sure I agree with the authors' mad fascination with fruit. But at some point, I hope to have tried most of them.
Aside from the famous puns, this book is lighter on jokes than you might expect. It's really just a solid cookbook for making burgers of all stripes. The sense of humor of the TV show is a garnish, if you will.
I got this as a gift for a chef friend and fellow Bob's Burgers lover and it is absolutely amazing. I don't eat meat, but I think these burgers would be fantastic with a veg burger too. The recipes are so funny but they also all sound delicious!! This is also the first cookbook I feel comfortable rating without having made any of the recipes. I highly, highly recommend this for fans of the tv show. It'll be an end to end delight.
Bob's Burgers is one of my favorite animated sitcoms. It's corny, laugh-inducing, and surprisingly comforting as many adult cartoons tend to be. It's mature and tolerable, and it's a cartoon! It's a win, win when you're stressed.
If you watch the show regularly, you already know that the show finds an opportunity in each episode to glance at the "burger of the day" sign, even if a particular episode isn't about the restaurant or burgers. The sign finds its way every time and features some pretty clever, corny, and creative burger combinations. I'm one of those who makes it a point to find the sign, even if it's hiding in the background. The writers' work does not go unnoticed lol. Likewise, I was pretty excited to spot The Bob's Burgers Burger Book in the bookstore and I've looked it over a few times already. It is definitely the real deal, with fun visuals that fans will love. Personally, I found the actual recipes to be surprisingly simplistic so I wasn't motivated at all to purchase the cookbook or prepare any of the burgers in my own kitchen, but it was smile-worthy regardless.
If there's anyone who knows me, they'll know I love a good burger and binging Bob's Burgers. When this cookbook was given to me as a Christmas gift, it seemed like a match made in heaven. And it was.
I haven't actually made any of the burgers in the book yet, but some of them are mouthwatering enough that I feel like I can go ahead and leave a review.
At first glance, this cookbook may seem gimmicky. I mean, making a burger cookbook from a show about burgers? Just seems like they're only trying to capitalize on sales rather than content.
However, flip through a couple of the recipes and you'll realize just how thought out this cookbook was. Each recipe stays very true to the franchise and relates to what you would imagine the quirky burger of the day to actually be. There's even plenty of jokes and puns in both the burger description and the recipe itself without becoming too unhelpful.
Maybe in 2017 I'll set a goal for myself to make a burger from this book each month. Or more often. Who knows. What I do know is that these recipes sound amazing and, if you love Bob's Burgers or just burgers in general, I definitely recommend picking up a copy.
I'll be honest and say that I'm picky about my burgers and don't think most of these recipes are my forte, BUT... 5 stars for hilarious puns and illustrations, as well as creativity.
Granted, I haven't tried any of the recipes yet, but a surprising number of them made my mouth water. There is an extraordinary amount of care put into this book, which many might think is a throw away marketing effort.
There's new art adapted to the burgers. There are jokes worked into introductions and the recipes themselves, which you mentally "hear" in various characters' voices. There are the recipes themselves, originally a hobby by a blogger but overseen and reworked by two culinary folks.
All in all it both entertains and promises delicious meals to come.
Best cookbook based off a show ! I have made about 1/3 of the burgers and all were amazing ! Not and punny as Bob, but I felt like I was apart of my favorite show :D
As recent fans of the show, our family had the oh-so-original idea to try to make a burger based on the funny names they create on the show- only to find we were ten years late to the party. Apparently some blogger did that and then the show creators found out, and added some cooking professionals to the mix and created this book. The thing is, it could have easily been a vanity project, knowing that people are always looking for gifts and gimmicks, but this book is amazing! It has artwork related to the show, SO many recipes and great cooking tips all written in a funny and just a little in-joke style. But wait! The burgers are fantastic! We've tried three so far- the "I've Created a Muenster" burger, the "Oniontended Consequences" burger, and the "Bruschetta Bout it" burger and they were all completely different and yet amazing. Talkin' bout mushroom packets, and goat cheese, and balsamic wonders! I've got a dozen more pages flagged right now.
I love this book so much. It's full of interesting recipes and amusing puns. This is a great book for anyone that loves the show Bob's burgers and it would also make a great gift for anyone that enjoys puns and making their own burgers.
The flavors are unconventional, but really work. If you are willing to go out of your comfort zone of beef and cheese, this is the book for you. The chefs didn't just make joke burgers, they made real food work with the joke. I always date the recipe after I make it, and put whether I loved it or how I modified it. This makes it easier to go back and make again.
Bob's Burgers is my favorite tv show so when I found out that a cookbook was being released, I knew I would get my hands on it as soon as it released.
This cookbook is all I could have hoped for. The description on each burger would allow even an amateur like myself to be able to cook these burgers. Also the illustrations are just amazing and capture the essence of the burger being portrayed.
I would definitely recommend this burger book to any fan of Bob's Burgers who also loves great burgers.
This book isn't perfect (needed one more pass with the editor/proofreader), but I love it anyway. A huge variety of burger recipes, and it reads like Bob himself is there in the kitchen with you ;) There is some great art from the show on every page, which helps reinforce that feeling. We've tried two recipes so far (New Baconings and A Good Manchego is Hard to Find), both were very tasty. The bacon burger was pretty standard, but the manchego burger was topped with caramelized shallots and fig jam. Expand your burger horizons!
I very much enjoyed this book and look forward to trying out some of the recipes. If you like pun-based humor as well as eating/experimenting with food, you can appreciate this book without having any knowledge of Bob's Burgers or ever watching an episode.
Great Cookbok for people that dont know how to cook. My only gripes are the burgers are not in chronological order with the episodes or separated in any other way plys they left out the original chalkboard burger gag, The Child Molester (comes with candy), still 5 stars
I would say that 80% of these recipes looked pretty yummy - more work than I would usually put into a burger usually but I'm willing to try. Blueberries in a burger sounds like a waste of blueberries though. :( How would you even taste them through the meat?
I'm in a good mood. My daughter got this for Christmas and it actually works as a concept and gateway cookbook for young people.Detailed instructions on how to make a winning patty and to safely prepare some great fries. I'd try the Okra - burger today!
Definitely trying the Poblano Picasso Burger (17); If Looks Could Kale Burger (22); and the Summer Thyme Burger (91), it contains a round of grilled watermelon!
This is so yummy! I love this book and so burgers. I can now enjoy making my own home0made burgers for my child. I found the recipes good for the health and easy to follow.
