I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
She'd been bailing her baby brother out of trouble for years.
Third in the series, I had no problem jumping in with this small town romance even though I haven't read the others. We start off with a very pregnant Sadie Gray working in her grandmother's I Believe in Unicorns store and trying to suss out if her brother on the run from the law is squeezing her grandmother for money. Her brother got mixed up transporting drugs with the local gang and now is wanted by them and the police. She's got that to deal with while she's pregnant and deciding that it is finally time to kick her baby's father to the curb. The pov then jumps to FBI agent Chase Roberts, who happens to be watching the store and catches Sadie in an embarrassing moment but receives a phone call before they can meet. Their meet-cute then ends up with Sadie getting into a minor car accident and Chase, with his new undercover partner Nate Black, delivering Sadie's baby because she goes into labor on the side of the road.
And for the first time in his career, he thought he might be in over his head.
This started with a lot of different elements thrown at the reader, I had a hard time keeping up with everything. The undercover case Chase is working with Nate Black, who he isn't sure he can fully trust, as they try to find Sadie's brother and see if he really was a criminal informant for Nate's buddy that was killed and if the local sheriff's department is dirty and working to ship drugs with the gang is the main plot but there were so many intangibles added that it started to feel kitchen sink and not cobbled together quite right. Around the 20% mark, I started to feel like I was settling into the story more. Sadie's grandmother's second sight, Sadie's friend Abby and her YouTube channel ideas, and Sadie's baby preferring Chase all the time, were seemingly small additives but they were all thrown in, in such a way, that it disrupted the flow and took away from the romance.
“Thank you.” he said, then held her gaze. “I meant what I said, Sadie. I care about Michaela, and I care about you.”
The romance was fairly mild, with the baby almost always between them, Sadie and Chase felt like an already married couple and with more of a dulled spark. This was also a kisses only, the sex scene is completely off screen. Both characters were raised by their grandparents and I thought that was sweet commonality but because Sadie and Chase had to share the focus in so many directions, I felt we never got to see them sit and deepen together. I had that problem with a lot of the characters, they went beyond cardboard individually but their relationships with each other were lacking and I missed more emotion. About 40% Sadie learns that Chase is undercover and a little bit of fake relationship trope happens as he pretends to be her boyfriend so he can stay with her at her house. I thought we would get more spark but these two just settled into the comfortable couple even more, with Sadie getting naps in and Chase doing the laundry.
If you've read the other books in the series, you'll enjoy the appearances of past and future couples as they have some important roles in this. I felt the execution wasn't quite right on this as the beginning had me feeling scattered and pulled in a lot of different ways, Chase and Nate never felt like they were searching intensely enough for Sadie's brother, and Sadie's baby got in the middle a lot. The story ends fairly abruptly but with the bonus story edition, you get a novella of Sadie and Chase's wedding, which helps give an epilogue feel. This would be a comfortable read for some, though, if you like a little detective work and wanting to visit the small town of Highland Falls again.
Falling in Love on Willow Creek by Debbie Mason is the third book in her Highland Falls series, and is a fun, quick, romantic book, but with some mystery and intrigue too!
At nine months pregnant, Sadie Grey is more interested in finding her younger brother, who’s hiding from the law, than worrying about her deadbeat ex-boyfriend. She returns to the idyllic town of Highland Falls, where her grandmother runs a store selling everything unicorn, to help her as they both try to find her brother.
When Sadie’s car slips on the road, and she simultaneously goes into labor, she’s relieved when a mysterious man named Michael, and his friend show up to help her give birth to her daughter. The man and his friend, disappear after the birth, but Sadie can’t forget his caring eyes and his instant love for her new baby.
Three months later, Michael (real name Chase) shows up in Highland Falls as a Park Ranger. Chase Roberts is an FBI agent, going undercover as a Park Ranger who is intent on finding out who murdered a county deputy sheriff, and he’s convinced Sadie’s brother is the key to finding the murderer. He must gain Sadies trust in order to find her brother, who holds the key to the deputy sheriff’s murder.
Falling in Love on Willow Creek is a delightful, intriguing, and sweet story set in an idyllic small town in North Carolina. It’s heartwarming and romantic, at the same time it’s intriguing and thrilling.
Debbie Mason is a talented writer and she paints the pictures clearly with her descriptions of Highland Falls and the townspeople. Her writing makes me want to move there and live in this small town with all the quirky characters and beautiful settings. (and a funny Golden Retriever, Finn). As this is the third book in a series, it’s still stand-alone, however, it makes me want to go back and read the first two books.
There is also a bonus novella included that I also enjoyed as it is an expanded epilogue for all the characters in the first three books of the Highland Falls series.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I'm generally a fan of Debbie Mason and I really enjoyed her other two Highland Falls novels. So when I learned of Mason's Willow Creek novel, I had to read it.
Unfortunately, I struggled reading it. I just couldn't connect with the characters -- especially Sadie. To me, she was just a dependent and needy woman. Add in a sniveling infant to the mix and it turned out to be a recipe for disaster.
The plot involving undercover operations and romance just didn't click for me, so I just gave up trying to plow through till the end.
I really felt that Mason just wanted to spit out another novel. So, the execution of Falling in Love on Willow Creek wasn't her best effort. One disappointing star.
I received a digital ARC from Forever through NetGalley. The review herein is completely my own and contains my honest thoughts and opinions.
I am loving this Higland Falls series and book #3 was so much fun to read. You have single mom to be Sadie Gray going into labor on the side of the road on a slick night and Chase Roberts who becomes her knight in shining amour when he and another special agent Nate come to her rescue. Chase and Nate are with the FBI and the CIA to find and apprehend Sadie’s brother Elijah, except they are both going by assumed names and working undercover. And little did Sadie and Chase know that bringing a baby into the world was going to change both of their lives forever. Chase alias Michael Knight did not know that the minute he held this new life in his arms that he would do anything to protect both mother and baby.
This book was a lot of romance, mystery and a town that has a group of matchmakers that give you some laugh out loud moments, as well as lots of happy tears and moments when you want to cheer as the bad guys get their due. I loved all the characters that Debbie Mason has created in this series. From Sadie’s grandmother, who owns I Believe in Unicorns and has ‘the sight’, to Zia Marie who owns the Italian restaurant and the town gossip Babs, who is lightning on her phone and the gossip made around the town before the Tea is spilled. But the person who is going to steal our heart is sweet baby Michaela, who takes down big strong sexy Chase Roberts and wraps his heart with her little fingers. When you open a Debbie Mason book, you know that you are going to get a wonderful and delightfully romantic story and you will want to move into Highlands Falls and become part of the wonderful small town in the mountains of North Carolina.
Thank you to Debbie Mason and her publisher for giving me the opportunity to read and review one my fav authors books.
Whew! I can't even begin to imagine having to deal with so many issues while pregnant. Sadie Gray will have to go it alone, well when one has a grandmother the like of Agnes MacLeod, she's never truly alone. As always, Debbie Mason gives us small-town love and a sense of family. I gotta say I really enjoyed what felt like a bit more mystery and intrigue with this one. (This is book three in the Highland Falls series).
As someone who grew up in a small town, I affectionately enjoy the reminders of small-town etiquette. The way it's expected for you to invite, share, and interact with people. Even if you aren't friends. I laughed out loud quite a few times while reading.
So good! This book is a wonderful mix of romance and mystery/suspense. Chase is a totally by the book FBI agent. Sadie, while not normally a rule breaker, is willing to bend the rules in order to protect her family, no matter what wrongs they’ve done. The chemistry between them draws them together - will their different agendas tear them apart? Friends and family rally around as they work together to learn to trust each other and their feelings. An adorable baby girl and a golden retriever who’s also a kleptomaniac help keep them on their toes. This is an entertaining and captivating addition to the Highland Falls series, although it can easily be read as a stand alone. Bonus: an included bonus novella continues the story and brings us a delightful wedding and all the turmoil and chaos leading up to it. It’s not to be missed!
Review:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I love small town romances and this one was full of fun small town quirkiness and gossip. Throw in a bunch of unicorns, and I'm hooked! 🦄 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I absolutely loved the bonus story, and recommend not skipping it! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The author did a great job of building the characters up and creating that connection that we all want with the characters. I do believe that Sadie's Grandmother may be my favorite character in this book. The humor will make you laugh out loud. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Another lovely addition to the Highland Falls series.
Falling In Love On Willow Creek has a lot more danger and energy than the other books in the series, and it will keep you wondering who can be trusted in this small town.
Sadie and Chase's story is not all smooth sailing, and you will spend a lot of the time waiting for the other shoe to drop, however you will also love falling in love along with then.
I liked that it didn't show motherhood as all easy, and I liked seeing a character written that does struggle with life with a newborn.
I did find that it did drag a little bit, and there could maybe have been a chapter or two that were cut to make things flow faster - however that is just this readers thoughts.
I loved seeing more of the couples that we have already met, and we really do all need an Abby in our lives.
Sweet and scary and adrenalin pumping at times, I enjoyed my time back in the falls a>
Falling in Love on Willow Creek By Debbie Mason. 💜
Sadie Gray Has moved back Home to Highland Falls. A single mom With Baby on the way. Very pregnant Sadie... Everyone has opens arms for Sadie.. her Best Friend lives here in this small town. Abby ... Granny has her store I believe in unicorns 🦄. Granny is one of my favorite parts of this series... she from Ireland. Love her ways..
Now Its Valentines day Sadie finds herself alone. Crashed into a guardrail.. and in Labor.... Not Expecting the help she got. But it's what it is...
Sadie's little Brother finds himself in some big Trouble. Sadie being the sister she is she will do what ever it takes to help her baby brother Elijah.
I haven't read any books by Debbie Mason. And not Loved them.. This is just another one to add to my list...
If you Haven't Read the Christmas Colorado Series Its A MUST.. 🌲🤶🎅
This book warmed my heart on so many levels! Though the way they met was very unconventional, I truly enjoyed the way that these two worked through their differences and came together as a couple. I continue to love and adore this Highland Falls series, and I can't get enough of it! I will take all the books that Debbie Mason wants to write in this town. The plot that brought Chase to town, and had him interacting with Sadie was compelling enough to keep my interest, but didn't take away from the romance for me. I really enjoyed my time, and can't wait to read more!
Oh, how I love Highland Falls and it's people!!! Chase and Sadie's chemistry was sizzling from the start, and I love how amazing he was with Michaela. Granny MacLeod is a character, I just love her so much!!! I can't wait to return to this wonderful town!!!
After reading an advance copy of this book a couple months ago, I had planned to skim it once again over the weekend before writing a review. I hadn't even reached the end of the first chapter before these characters pulled me right back into their story and I ended up re-reading the entire book for a second time. Every single word. Mason's balance of romance, suspense, hilarious comedy, and heartfelt emotion kept me eagerly turning pages from beginning to end. Her descriptions of Highland Falls brought the small mountain to life and have pretty much convinced me that if I hop into my car and drive a couple hours west I'll be right there with my favorite Highland Falls residents in all their nosy, supportive, sometimes quirky, and frequently hilarious small-town glory. I've fallen for them all, enjoy catching up with them in each book, and eagerly welcome all new arrivals to town.
Sadie and Chase a/k/a Michael have secured their place as one of my favorite Mason couples. I fell hard for Michael in the first chapter, almost as hard as he fell for Sadie and her newborn daughter. My heart melted over his special bond with the baby and his determination to keep both Sadie and her daughter safe, even if he had to bend a few of his sacred rules to do so. My heart ached for Sadie as she struggled to find her footing as a single mom with a colicky baby while dealing with her scumbag ex, trying to keep her grandmother out of bankruptcy, trying to track down her on-the-run younger brother, staying one step ahead of the bad guys, and falling for the man who is lying to her about who he really is. That's a lot to handle, but handle it she does. I really enjoyed the evolution of her character, the inner strength she discovered, the support she found through her female friendships, and, how she handled her relationship with Michael after his true purpose for being in Highland Falls was revealed.
As with the first two books in the series, the supporting cast is vast, vividly depicted, and integral to the lead couple's story. I absolutely adored Finn, the kleptomaniac pooch who forms an immediate bond with Sadie's daughter and I can't wait to find out what Mason has in store for potential new couples in future books. Falling in Love on Willow Creek can be read as a standalone but because key characters and past events from the first two books are prominently featured in book three I suggest reading the books in order beginning with Summer on Honeysuckle Ridge, followed by Christmas on Reindeer Road, and then Falling in Love on Willow Creek.
But the story doesn't end there! There's a bonus novella, A Wedding On Honeysuckle Ridge, included at the end of Falling in Love on Willow Creek that is an absolute delight. There are reluctant brides, over-zealous groomzillas, matchmaking grandmothers, trouble-making grandfathers, adorable babies, a six-year-old romance advisor, and last, but definitely not least, a sweetly sentimental but hilariously inept marriage proposal that still has me laughing.
I enthusiastically recommend adding Falling in Love on Willow Creek to your summer reading list.

Debbie Mason writes really great small town romance and I was excited to return to Highland Falls.
Sadie is a single mother with a three month old and she has just returned to her home town of Highland Falls. While juggling taking care of her daughter and helping her Grandma's store she becomes embroiled in mystery and danger caused by her brother's actions.
Chase is an undercover FBI agent and actually helped Sadie the night she gave birth. He is a by the book guy, but what happens when he realizes he's falling for the sister of a suspect in the crimes he's investigating?
I picked this up without reading the blurb because I love the series. There was more suspense and action than I expected, but it fit in well with the story and moved the plot forward. Some of my favorite moments were the domestic ones that they shared while living at Sadie's cabin. It was so sweet seeing them fall for each other in these quiet times they shared.
This could be read as a standalone, but I definitely recommend reading the whole series to get the full scope of the town and characters!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an ARC for an honest review.
Sadie is very much pregnant and extremely worried about her younger brother. She is hoping to find him so she can help him like she always does. He's in big trouble this time with the police looking for him. She goes home even though her baby is due soon and things take a turn for the worse. She ends up stranded on a mountain in labor and with no way to call for help. When a park ranger named Chase comes to her rescue the two form a bond over the birth of her child. Chase has a huge secret he is keeping from Sadie and can't tell her about it. He knows if she knew who he really was she might not feel the same way about him. As the two's bond grows Chase wonders if she'll be able to see past the lies he told down to the truth of his real feelings. Will love be able to conquer all of will lies told get in the way. this was a lovely read filled that had me on an emotional ride which I loved!

I adore Debbie Mason's Highland Falls series. Her characters are quirky and zany. This book follows Sadie and Chase (and Sadie's baby, Michaela). It is full of action, rumors, secrets, and drama. It was a very entertaining read- especially the kleptomaniac dog, Finn. The overall themes of this book are family, love, romance, and friendship. I would definitely recommend for a light-hearted, entertaining vacation read.
The additional novella at the end of Falling in Love on Willow Creek that is called, A Wedding on Honeysuckle Ridge, is also entertaining and full of laugh-out-loud scenes. I just really adore the characters of this series. This novella wraps up Sadie and Chase's love story, as well as those of other characters from past books in the Highland Falls series. This story was a nice extra at the end of the main novel.
Falling in Love on Willow Creek is an alluring, heartwarming tale that takes us back to Highland Falls and into the life of the stressed, soon-to-be mom Sadie Gray as she juggles moving home, the early arrival of her baby girl, a good-for-nothing ex, a brother who seems to be hiding from the law, and an undeniable attraction to the handsome, helpful stranger, Michael Knight, AKA FBI Agent Chase Roberts who seems to be in town for more than just a new job.
The writing is fluid and light. The characters are intriguing, endearing, and kind. And the plot, including all the subplots, intertwine and unravel seamlessly into an entertaining tale of family, friendship, sizzling chemistry, dangerous endeavours, secrets, deduction, spirited mishaps, and swoon-worthy romance.
Overall, Falling in Love on Willow Creek is another enchanting, tender, charming read by Mason that has all the romance, adventure, and comical hijinks I adore about her stories, along with the added bonus of a novella at the end that was a true delight for my happy-ever-after loving heart.
Thank you to Forever and Grand Central Publishing for providing me with a copy in an exchange for an honest review.
I usually like to read a series in order but started on this one. I'll definitely be going back to read the others soon. Thoroughly enjoyed this small town romance with a mystery and a bit of suspense. They add so much to a story and I'm there for it. Loved the connection between Sadie & Chase/Michael a lot. Their 'meet cute' was great! Nate...loved him too. Hope he gets his own story. The other side characters were fantastic as well. Granny? Oh how I loved Granny! This was my first book by this author and I'm looking forward to reading her other books/series.
5 ⭐️ isn’t enough :) I loved Sadie & Chase’s story. I’m excited that this series isn’t ending & another book is coming. Thank you Debbie Mason for entertaining us
Falling in Love on Willow Creek by Debbie Mason is the third book in the Highland Falls Series. In this series all the books are set in Highland Falls, so some of the same characters show up in the novels. This particular novel focuses on Sadie Gray and Chase Roberts.
Sadie is pregnant and going to have a baby at any minute. She is worried about her brother, a fugitive hiding from the FBi, a drug cartel and the local sheriff’s office. She is worried about her Grandmother, who seems to be focused on other things than her business. Sadie, while driving home after visiting Highland Falls for the weekend, goes into labor on top of a mountain in the midst of a snowstorm after crashing her car.
Chase Roberts, an FBI agent actually helped Sadie (with a colleague) when she was in labor. He was after Sadie’s brother and knew that Sadie and her grandmother were struggling with her brother’s disappearance. Chase wants to go back to the city as the country and its animals are scary.
Chase and Sadie start to spark off each other. It doesn’t hurt that Sadie’s baby stops crying when Chase is holding her. The story has many twists and turns over tracking down Sadie’s brother and then all sorts of other things start happening.
I have enjoyed this series, but this is not my favorite of the series. Sadie was too irritating and whiny for me in the beginning of the book. I didn’t mind her being headstrong once the novel moved at least ½ way. Sadie’s beginning character did take away from the pleasure of the novel. Once the book was over ½ way I began to feel more positive about the characters and storyline. Falling in Love on Willow Creek by Debbie Mason is the third book in the Highland Falls series.
What do you think of when you look at the cover of this book? I immediately think of an adorable small town romance, cute pets to round out the story and Hallmark movie vibes. That's exactly what I wanted when I picked up this book. But it's not what I got.
This book was almost more of a mystery. A very pregnant Sadie ends up having her baby on the side of the road and is helped by the undercover FBI agent who is currently on the hunt for her brother Elijah, who always has problems with the law. The story continues to follow Sadie as she navigates motherhood, tries to help her Grandmother with her store and tries to find her brother before the agents do.
It's a hard book to review because while I found it entertaining enough to keep reading, it also didn't have the romance and fun that I was looking for when I initially picked it up. There was no steamy love at all, though by the end of the book there was a romance between Sadie and Chase. But everything in the book moved very quickly, almost rushed. I found the plot jumped around a bit too much much my liking and I didn't find myself really loving any of the characters or being able to connect with them.
I gave it three stars because like I said earlier, it was entertaining enough to read through to the end but it just wasn't what I wanted and I feel like the story doesn't match the cover at all. I am willing to read more from Debbie Mason though and if you're a fan of her books you will probably like this. It was different and I encourage you to read other reviews of this one because it definitely has an audience who loved it!
⭐⭐⭐⭐💫 This book is a wonderful mix of romance and mystery/suspense. It's Book 3 in the Highland Falls series by @authordebmason
Chase is a by the book FBI agent. Sadie, while not normally a rule breaker, is willing to bend the rules in order to protect her family, no matter what wrongs they’ve done. The chemistry between them draws them together. Sadies friends and family rally around as they work together to learn to trust each other and their feelings. Granny MacLeod is such a character!! 😂
I really can't wait to read the rest of the series!
Falling in Love on Willow Creek is the third book in the Highland Falls series written by author Debbie Mason. I must say up front – Ms. Mason does not disappoint – and she is a favorite Canadian author of mine! When I am in the mood for romance – she is who I turn to. I have been following this series from book one, but a reader does not have to start from the beginning of the series to appreciate this charming third book.
I love Highland Falls! Each book so far in the series has been engaging, packed with lots of romance and Falling in Love on Willow Creek is no exception. The tale begins with Sadie Gray driving to the city from her latest visit with her grandmother Agnes MacLeod in Highland Falls, when the inclement weather continued to get worse (snow coming down harder and harder). Did I mention that Sadie was pregnant with a ginormous baby bump? Now to me that just spells trouble…and it did. When Sadie decides to turn around and go back to Highland Falls she realizes that her baby is coming NOW, whether she likes it or not. Luckily for her, help presents itself by way of Chase Roberts and Nathan Black (both undercover law enforcement agents – FBI and NCSBI agents respectively). After the baby is born, she is named Michaela after Chase (sort of as Chase is undercover as “Michael Knight” – a park ranger). So on to the crux of why law enforcement is in Highland Falls…they are looking for Sadie’s brother, Elijah, in an ongoing case regarding Brodie (one of their own who was killed in the line of duty). Enough recap for the moment – now on to some thoughts on the story telling and characters ☺
I found the storyline was filled with some interesting twists with respect to Elijah and his tie in to the death of agent Brodie. Both Chase and Nathan had a huge investment in determining the truth with respect to the death of their fellow agent. And let me tell you – I was pleasantly surprised that I did NOT guess who was involved and how. So not only is my romance book filled with gushy, heart stopping romance but it also had some very engaging mystery elements, which kept me engaged and guessing throughout.
I love how the townspeople of Highland Falls stick with one another and help each other out when one of their own is in trouble. Makes you really want to live in Highland Falls (okay – that may just be me…). I particularly loved the description of Agnes MacLeod (Sadie’s aunt and owner of the store ‘I Believe in Unicorns’) – especially with the recent (January 2022) passing of Betty White:
“People made the mistake of thinking Agnes MacLeod, the adorable Betty White look-alike with a soft Scottish burr, was a pushover. Sadie knew better.”
And let me say that the slow burn with respect to the main love story between Sadie and Chase/Michael – very enticing and got this romantic at heart right where it matters – in the heart. And to add to the mix that it seemed Sadie’s baby Michaela liked Chase more than Sadie – or at least was easily settled by Chase whereas Sadie had great difficulties with that. Chase just had a more natural way with the baby.
The town matchmakers had me laughing multiple times. Those ladies will not stop for anything or anybody until they have made the match! And their antics are interesting to say the least. It is comforting, this sense of community.
The whole series is a delight and I am quite enjoying getting to know the residents of Highland Falls. I cannot wait to read the next books in the series -> A Wedding on Honeysuckle Ridge (book 3.5) and The Inn on Mirror Lake (book 4). And I for one hope this series becomes a movie or two!
FALLING IN LOVE ON WILLOW CREEK by Debbie Mason Fall in love with thelatest Highland Falls romance about a single mom-to-be's surprise delivery and the undercover FBI agent who rescues her and her heart in the small town of Highland Falls. Single mom-to-be Sadie Gray will do anything to find her younger brother before the law catches up with him. Even if it means returning home to the small town of Highland Falls with a baby due any moment. But when that moment comes sooner than expected, and Sadie finds herself stranded on the top of a mountain—in labor--she couldn’t be more grateful for the park ranger who finds her and helps deliver her daughter safely. Soon they’ve formed a tight friendship, and while he may be hinting at more, Sadie isn’t planning to stick around after she finds her brother. FBI agent Chase Roberts wasn’t looking for love when he agreed to go undercover as a park ranger to find an on-the-run informant. But he can’t help being drawn to beautiful, warm-hearted Sadie and her sweet baby daughter. He’s always longed to put down roots and start a family. But how can he hope to keep Sadie’s trust when she finds out that his job is to arrest the brother she’s been looking for? Chase Roberts and Sadie Gray'story. When you grew up in a small town with a grandmother who believed in unicorns and a baby brother who frequently found himself on the wrong side of the law, the last thing you wanted was to draw attention to yourself. But as Sadie Gray knew from experience, sometimes that was easier said than done. At that moment, she stood in the display window of I Believe in Unicorns, her grandmother’s store in Highland Falls, North Carolina, wearing a hairband adorned with pastel ribbons, pointed ears, and a gold unicorn horn. If she were eight instead of twenty-eight, she might have been able to pull off the look. She’d said as much to her grandmother when she’d dragged a pink unicorn sweatshirt over Sadie’s ginormous baby bump and then stuck the hairband on her head. FBI agent Chase Roberts stood ankle-deep in wet snow in the middle of the woods outside of Highland Falls. He’d rather be sitting in his car with the heat on high, watching the antics of Elijah Gray’s sister in the window of I Believe in Unicorns. Instead, he was freezing his ass off waiting for an agent from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation to arrive. On the request of NCSBI agent Nathan Black, a man he’d never met, Chase had spent the better part of his Sunday morning surveilling the unicorn store on Main Street in Highland Falls. He’d been about to make contact with Sadie Gray and her grandmother when Black called to say plans had changed, directing him to a cottage on Willow Creek owned by the Grays. An hour later, he’d received another call from Black, asking him to check out Payton Howard’s house on Chestnut Lane. Now here Chase stood at meeting place number four with no sign of the other agent. I recommend reading. FALLING IN LOVE ON WILLOW CREEK by Debbie Mason is a wonderful well written 5 star book. I am looking forward to reading more books by Debbie Mason. I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book.
I received an eARC of this book via Netgalley. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of this review.
Falling in Love on Willow Creek by Debbie Mason is the third book in her series Highland Falls. This time we follow the lives of Sadie Gray and Chase Roberts, a brand new single mom and FBI agent undercover. I wanted to love this one, I have loved all of Debbie Mason's books to date, but this one missed the mark with me.
Sadie is a bit of a hot mess when the book opens what with giving birth on the side of the road and all. But after it flashes forward a few months, Sadie is still a hot mess. Newly single, though definitely for the better, and jobless, she is floundering. Her new daughter is colicky, she’s sleep deprived, and at her wits end. I really felt for her. I remember those early days of having a newborn, and they are not easy. I could only imagine doing it alone. But Sadie’s pride gets in the way of her asking for help from her friends who are more than willing to give it.
Then enters Chase Roberts, or Michael Knight as Sadie knows him. Coming to her rescue the night her daughter was born and then mysteriously disappearing just as quickly, Michael was never far from Sadie’s thoughts. However he isn’t who she thinks he is. She believes he’s a park ranger, her “knight” in shining armor. But he’s actually an undercover FBI agent working to find her brother. Chase is extremely smart, but also a bit socially backward. I felt for him. He’s also got a heart of gold, doesn’t like lying, and now thinks he may be falling in love which is definitely against the rules.
The story has multiple plot lines that intersect. First there’s the mystery surrounding Sadie’s brother, her own involvement in the case, and where he might be. Murder may also be afoot 😉 In addition, as if Sadie needs any more on her own plate, her grandmother’s store is going bankrupt. She has to find a way to keep it afloat. The mystery and story itself I really enjoyed. However the romance between Sadie and Chase I had a hard time with. It’s insta-love. There’s very little build up. It felt forced in the beginning instead of natural, like I believe the author intended. I did eventually love them which is why I’m still giving it 4 stars.
Overall, I enjoyed Falling in Love on Willow Creek. I’m interested in seeing a story about Nate next 😉 Nate is Chase’s partner, and while he is quite rough around the edges, I’m hoping to see more of him. If you enjoy light and fluffy romance, I highly recommend this one.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review. You can purchase your copy here: https://www.amazon.com/Falling-Love-W... This is a comical romance with plenty of Laugh out Loud moments! I am grateful that I am still reading at home and not out in the real world, just yet. This story starts out with Sadie Gray in her grandmother’s store in Highland Falls, North Carolina being tortured by said Grandmother. Pregnant, twenty-eight years old, her grandmother had her dressed in a headband adorned with a gold horn and a pink unicorn sweatshirt that says, “I’m horny!”. Thankfully, my grandmother would never do such a thing! She was finding it hard to be happy while the thought of meeting up with her baby daddy, Drew was looming over her head. Drew was far from an upstanding guy. He just was fired from his job for drinking at work, only after Sadie has discovered that he had maxed out her credit card. Sadie really has her hands full with not only a meddling grandmother, but one who has premonitions that come true. This can be fun, but can also be menacing, when you are trying to lead a “normal” life when you have a brother who seems to always be up to no good and adult friends who still tease you about Granny’s second sight. I am torn with whether I want to be best friends with Sadie or just an innocent bystander. The antics are sure interesting and would definitely spice up a situation, but at the same time, some situations are a little too much drama for me. A brother who almost got me arrested, no thanks, but he sure makes an interesting read! A Granny who constantly seems to be up to something- maybe up my alley. I love me a good naughty Granny! This book is going to have you rooting for a side, screaming at some of the decisions being made and just plain laughing out loud. If you are not one who likes to be judged for your public giggling, maybe read it on the beach. I LOVED this book and am now hooked on this author! This is my fifth book that I have read and I will be seeking out the next book, The Inn on Mirror Lake, coming in February of 2022.
At nine months pregnant Sadie Gray shouldn't be traveling across the country to track down her younger brother who is on the run from the law... but that is exactly what she is doing. He has found himself on the wrong side of the law and she intends on finding him before they do. But in her quest to locate him she finds herself stranded on the top of a mountain in labor. There is no way she can do this alone, and she thinks she is going to have to, until a handsome park ranger shows up to save her day.
She wasn't expecting her travels to bring love into her already crazy life, but as soon as she meets Chase Roberts she can't help but want to stick around and learn everything about him. He's unlike any other man she's ever met, he's handsome, sweet, and has her heart beating double time... but he has a secret that could derail everything!
Falling in Love on Willow Creek is a wonderfully penned small town romance with a suspenseful twist. Between the pages of this one readers will fall for single mom-to-be Sadie and the man that steals her heart Chase Roberts. When he comes to her rescue on top of a mountain and helps her deliver her baby daughter she can't help but think a miracle has just walked into her life. He is one of the sweetest men she has ever met, but there are things about him she doesn't know, things that could derail their romance before it ever has a chance to get started!
I loved having a front row seat to this blossoming romance, watching these two maneuver through all the ups and downs thrown their way, and also discover an unexpected romance to boot was quite entertaining and good for my romance lovin' heart! I know readers will love this newest installment to the Highland Falls series, it's words are quite captivating and it's characters will easily charm their way into your heart in a matter of few pages! Highly recommend!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
Falling in Love on Willow Creek is the third title in the Highland Falls series and delivers an intense story with more mystery and comfort than romance. I’ve enjoyed this series, but this time Chase and Sadie’s romance felt sidelined far behind the search for Sadie’s brother and other issues happening in the area, for me at least. That doesn’t take away from the enjoyment of this story in the least, I was charmed by the lovefest between Sadie’s newborn daughter and Chase, as Michaela seems to favor Chase over everyone else around which was adorable. I simply didn’t feel the romantic intensity that I expected.
It’s always a joy to return to this fictional town where everyone not only knows your name but your business as well. We’ll run into some familiar faces, and also meet some new ones. Since Chase was working undercover searching for Sadie’s brother, who is an informant gone missing, I was waiting for that particular shoe to drop for the moment that Sadie realizes that the man she trusts and is falling for has let her believe in a necessary lie. Trust is such a fragile thing, easily destroyed.
Falling in Love on Willow Creek is a good story, full of unanswered questions, a beginning love, and a town full of unique residents. The writing flows easily, the plot complex enough to keep my attention focused on what’s coming next, and adds a bit more to the Highland Falls series. I had a good time back in this world once more, and if you love a good romance with interesting characters and unusual issues to be dealt with then this story would be a perfect match for you.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
Debbie Mason is one of those authors that I feel write just for me. Now I know that's not true but I'm still going to believe that. It's my story and I'm sticking with it. Even when her characters make me want to yell at them I'm still loving them. It's a real talent to have.
I really enjoyed Falling in Love on Willow Creek. Both Sadie and Chase are such great characters. The wall he helps her and just melts for her baby daughter is just so great. I spent a lot of my time while reading the book both laughing feeling for poor Sadie who felt her daughter hated her. As a parent, we all know the feeling. What really cracked me up is how everyone else in town felt she was a demon child too. What that is all but Chase. For him for the most part she was a happy baby.
I think that these two trusted each other deep inside and you see it in everything thing they did for each other. They are both good people and you want the best for them.
I understood why Sadie wanted to both protect and kill her own brother for what he was doing. You can see how torn she was. She didn't want to keep things for Chase but also wanted to take care of her family. I loved how Chase felt he had to do his job but couldn't or wouldn't do it with helping her and her family too.
I can say that this one has been one of my favorite books in the series. I would say that that's saying a lot but unfortunately, I say that for every book she writes. I also do feel they are my favorites until the new one comes out that is.
