The innocence of discovering a new world where new opportunities void of the mistakes and vices of the past continues strong, and exciting interactions are to come as Thorfinn and his community begin to set the foundations to their new village.

Thorfinn and everyone have finally reached Vinland! But instead of conquering, they come bearing gifts, offering kindness and respect to the land’s native people in an effort to build peace from the start. And Yukimura’s afterword ties everything together: this is a story about courage, not the kind found in battle, but the quiet kind that builds bridges, chooses peace, and leaves behind traces for the future. I feel like melting.

One of the moments I very much love here is Thorfinn and Leif's conversation. Seeing Thors and Askeladd behind Leif in that moment, was like all of Thorfinn’s past, pain, and hope converging into a single, wordless embrace. And when they named the village Arnheid, I was so sad. Because even in the farthest corner of the world, they still carry the memory of the people they couldn’t save. But this time they’ll do better, huhu.

Chissà cosa succederà d'ora in avanti.

I nostri arrivano in Groenlandia, dove ritrovano Leif oramai invecchiato parecchio.

They finally made it to Vinland! The plot moved fairly quickly with some bigger time jumps. Happy to see Hildr get more page time.

The storytelling feels pretty rushed to me. Thorfinn's been dreaming about Vinland for such a long time, and then he reaches the new continent within the space of like a couple of pages? C'mon... These chapters should be so much more impactful, and somehow they really aren't.

What irks me even more is how the whole conflict with Ivar is just so damn stupid and contrived. It's honestly bad writing. There's simply no reasonable explanation why the dude's even on board of the Vinland project. Was Thorfinn recruiting anyone at random as long as they wanted to go? I thought he was looking for people with a similar mindset and an appropriate set of values to create a land of peace, right? Vinland was meant to be above all a peaceful utopia, RIGHT? So what's this warmongering jerk even doing here? Even Halfdan's more peaceful than him. Wasn't it clear right from the beginning that he's gonna be a troublemaker?

Can't Yukimura create conflict and tension within the narrative in a more imaginative way than inserting a random dude who's such an obvious stinker? Or maybe Thorfinn had just chosen to play Civilisation in a hard mode on purpose by taking with him a treacherous asshole who single-handedly can ruin his dream in the blink of an eye?

Ugh, it's so annoying... Yukimura must have been like: "yeah, I need to introduce a new character whose sole function in the new arc is gonna be to wreak havoc and complicate things for dramatic effect. But I sort of had been doing it in every arc and I'm getting lazy, so this time I won't even bother to account for the presence of this new guy".

Just, ughhhhh...

This Vol. has become one of my favorites volumes from the story, perfect chapters that encompass the adventure of the expedition and that cliffhanger with the native people is fantastic and I want to see their interaction with Thorfinn and his people, the development and growth of Thorfin is beautiful and it melted my heart when he referred to King Canute as his friend.

Nice adventurous volume.

I'm liking the story a lot, the travels, finding new land and starting to build a new country where our heroes can live. But not everything is perfect, this is gonna bring new problems for Thorfinn and for the rest of the settlers, especiall because there's a trio of vikings that stil thing war is the way to go.

Overall: I liked this a lot, especially because of that cliffhanger at the very end. It doesn't help that this volumes take too much time to come out.

When I say this is one of the best manga, if not the best book I have ever read I am not lying. Incredible message that is even more relevant today than it was in the 1000s Thorfinns growth and character arc is one of the best in manga history I believe.

I don't know where the story goes after this one (except that I kinda think Ivar's going to mess up somehow) but I'm excited to read the rest !

🌅 Volume 25 – The Road to Vinland (Chapters 181–187)

If Volume 24 was about permission, Volume 25 is about preparation.
This is where the dream becomes real. Thorfinn and his people — Einar, Gudrid, Hild, and Leif — gather supplies, build ships, and recruit settlers for the journey west.

It’s a quieter volume, but it’s soaked in emotion. Every face, every word, carries the weight of history.
We’ve watched these people suffer and survive — now they’re daring to imagine something better.

Hild’s internal conflict takes center stage here. Her grudge against Thorfinn — for killing her father years ago — has never fully disappeared. But Yukimura writes it with such maturity. It’s not about forgiveness as a single act; it’s a slow, painful evolution.
You see her begin to understand Thorfinn’s change — and the humanity behind it.

And then there’s Leif. The man who once chased Thorfinn across oceans now sails beside him, older, wiser, and smiling. There’s a quiet poetry to it — the boy he once tried to save is now saving others.

The last chapters — the ships cutting through the ocean, sails full of wind — hit hard. After decades of wandering, the Vikings are finally going somewhere that isn’t a battlefield.
