The arrival of Harry Potter's children - snapped back in time, the children themselves guessed, twenty or so years - was the most interesting thing to happen at Hogwarts for years. Words: 112,572
“Do you want to know a secret I’ve kept from you for almost twenty-five years?”
Draco blinked at him. He said, “Do I?”
Harry said, “I fought the memory spell.”
Draco’s heart startled, then picked up. “What?”
“I fight the memory spell,” Harry said this time, nodding towards his younger self in the corner. “Mostly without meaning to. I remember bits of it, bits of this year. Not very well,” he added. “All of it was very blurry. Like a memory from a dream. But enough to…” He shook his head, smiling a little. “I wanted you so badly, and I was sure I was going to get you. I remembered enough to know that.”
It fell a bit short in 3 ways: 1. It was painfully obvious from very early on what the big secret was and it just too way to long to reveal itself. 2. The sex was very vanilla and sparing and not enough to rate Explicit in my opinion. 3. Then it ended too soon after taking too long.. ugh!
Great idea and cool characters but... too draggy and not enough pay off for it all.
Harry’s future children show up at Hogwarts during eighth year and change everything.
Wow, I could not put this down. It was so interesting and I absolutely loved watching all the relationships come together. First of all there’s obviously the romantic relationship between Draco and Harry and watching that evolve. It’s volatile it’s hurtful at times and there’s definitely angst, but there was also an immeasurable amount of sweetness and kindness and protective, possessive energy that is everything.
Second was the relationship between Draco and Harry‘s kids—Lily and James. It was so interesting to see how these kids warmed up to Draco so much and despite his initial confusion and hesitation, Draco would literally defend these kids with his entire life, and they kind of become best friends. I just loved this dynamic and the way that they all bonded and got along and the way that the kids even defended Draco to Harry himself made me giggle.
I think the “twist“ and this was pretty predictable, but I don’t think that it was intended to be a huge mystery? But I still loved watching that all unfold and watching them interact with one another.
I enjoyed this thoroughly. I loved the emotion, I love the storyline, I loved the writing. I loved it all!
I fell in love with Harry's kids, and I FELL IN LOVE with adult Draco???? OMG. It's obviously very cringe when i say this, but when i do say no fictional (or *cough*) man in my prevailing memory made me feel like this, I unfortunately mean it (i should shut up, I SHOULD SHUT UP).
Two very what-the-fuck scenes, one in the very beginning (i just have to mention this, bc rlly), and a problematic kinda relationship that works itself out.
I love the kids, i love the kids, i love the kids.
Nothing that amazes me, but I had a good time with it.
The only issue I had was that it felt like it lacked an emotional development to their relationship.
They were hate fxcking one second, in denial, and then it just seemed like they were all of a sudden in love.
Going from denying each other to spending time in the room, and pretty much getting an emotional connection just threw me off a little. Felt so sudden.
4.8 stars! My first Drarry. Hasn't overtaken Dramione BUT this was refreshing to read. The relationship and character dynamics were fun to read. It was more about what was not said versus what was that I think was the most fun to read through. Even the story - guessing the "secret" kept from us - was kept at a pace that I still wanted to know HOW it ended.
annotations:
-"You know ignoring me doesn't fix the intentive issue," he said, sneering, on their fourth session. "If you resist punching me it still knows you want to. That's what an intent is."
-There was something very comforting about that face, all the same. It was there year after year, a little older, a little more Gryffindor determination around the squinch of his mouth, ready for Draco to look at and loathe whenever he wanted.
-and Draco had never been very good at turning down Potter's attention. Normally he had to work so hard for it; it was interesting to have it handed over so willingly.
-"Everything in my head goes quiet when you touch me"
-He felt smaller and smaller, as though he had once been the grand house itself, full of rooms and magic and secrets, and now he was stuck in a body, a useless and cowardly one that was marked with all his bad decisions.
-Draco was torn between feeling unbelievably old and tired and bitterly young.
-It took a while to work out how to conjure up lube, first of all, Potter accidently summoning broom cleaner and then a stick of butter and something they thought might be bubble bath, until Draco was almost lightheaded with arousal and hilarity
-as much as to prove that every time Draco had hurt him this year it was because Harry was letting him, was allowing it
-and you couldn't feel this intensely about someone, not forever, not without tearing someone to pieces.
-Draco made a point of never speaking to him-he was a coward enough without anyone thinking he'd run screaming to Potter-but he couldn't quite bring himself to ask Harry to stop.
-"You're so possessive," he said quietly. "It's like you want to be the only person who was every cruel to me."
-He couldn't tell if there were more couples about than normal or if he was just bitter.
-she was right, there wasn't anything else for him here, not really, not when Draco was busy chasing it all away.
-"I'm still not very good," he said. "But I don't have to be, with you around."
-"It doesn't have to be easy, you know," the older Harry said. "That's not what good is."
-"Life isn't a bad year. It isn't even eight bad years. It isn't twenty good years. There's not a moment where you get called up to attest and that's it, that's who you are. I'll see your Patronus yet."
-"Love you," and didn't seem to notice Draco's cheeks flushing, his heart wild in his chest. It was a promise, Draco reminded himself, not a goodbye.
-You couldn't live like this, Draco thought again, with this kind of love, it was too much, and so it was worth giving it up to have it again, safer this time.
Cannot. Describe. How. Obsessed. I am. With this book.
I read it all in one day. Ok, I started it at night and then I spent the entire next day- granted, a Sunday of a vacation week - in bed finishing it.
It was amazing. It *is* amazing.
I can't wait to reread it.
A. The writing is exquisite.
B. The book covers Harry's teenage kids being dropped into Harry and Draco's 8th year. Everyone thinks they are Harry and Ginny's. This is a problem since Draco and Harry are developing a relationship.
There is SO MUCH ANGST. I love angst. I love it so much. Draco deals with a lot of self-hatred and self-punishment in this fic. Again, I only love fics where Draco actually thinks about what he has done wrong in the past. Harry deals with a lot of uncertainty about the future, feeling upset about being compelled to do things rather than choose them. Love that too.
The angst between them is amazing. As is their tenderness and love and romance. The sweetness. The physicality. The description of their young love and first time is amazing, so real. Their anger, their betrayal, their longing. Ugh, it is so amazing.
Their older selves. Their relationship with their teenagers. The amount of plot to keep it going. It is just all soooooo good.
This fic put me in such an amazing mood. I was literally zoned out all day due to this and on a high. Haven't been this affected by a story since I can't remember when.
Time travel Drarry fic. Harry’s teenage children travel back in time to when everyone is at Hogwarts after the war. I didn’t like the twins much , they were a little flat for me, though they got better towards the end. I LOVED the dynamic between Harry and Draco. The pinning, how everything came to be, Draco’s struggle to feel good enough. It was excellent!
Spoiler below:
Then you get to see future Harry and Draco interacting with current Draco and Harry 😂 it was the best thing ever *chef kiss*
I was blown away. I feel like crying I am so emotional from it all—Absolutely ground shattering. The entire premise is such a step away from what I feel like general Drarry Fanfiction is about and it opens up a new way of interpreting what life could be like in that kind of universe. While unlikely, I would love to see more from this universe. It is a true gamechanger and a definite recommendation for any of you invested in Drarry Fanficiton. Happy Reading! Stay happy and safe!
“Hey,” the older Harry said. His voice was light. “Do you want to know a secret I’ve kept from you for almost twenty-five years?” Draco blinked at him. He said, “Do I?” Harry said, “I fought the memory spell.”
A time travel story where the children get sent back to when their parents are teens. Did not focus on the kids or was written in their point of view. I really liked that about this one.
up there with my top fics i’ve ever read. a telltale sign is when my camera roll is littered with screenshots. time travel madness. OBSESSED with this adult draco. literally perfect. also……score…….
