This was a very action packed book with lots of great characters. Some were from previous books in this series so it was nice to "see" how they are doing but ... the book is complete without having read them. Though, I would recommend reading them if you enjoyed this book - you will love all of them as well. I appreciated one focus of this book being the safety of an innocent child. We often don't think of the risks that first responders take for our safety at the expense of their own. I very much enjoyed this book and I'm already looking forward to the next one.
Secrets that are brought to light and others are being kept for the safety of others. I have enjoyed watching the people of Last Chance solve crimes and find love. This book reminds us that we can easily set expectations for ourselves that are beyond reach and then feel like a failure who let others down when we can’t achieve them. I am anxiously awaiting the next book in the series that comes out in February.
This story is definitely fantasy. Bridget & Aiden are shot at so many times in such a short time period that is unbelievable. Then the bullets find their mark plus they are banged up so much it's a wonder they could carry on in their pursuit. But I do enjoy a good mystery & I found this one is good, just not realistic which is OK because it's a story. I think Ms. Phillips has quite the imagination in her writing.
This might deserve a 3.5 rating. I thought there were way too many details that were unbelievable, and several places where law enforcement and security professionals made such blatant errors, like not securing bad guys when they’d temporarily been knocked out of action.
This is the story of Bridget, abused as a teenager, and Aiden, her high school boyfriend, now a cop in Last Chance, and how circumstances brought them back together again 6-7 years after she’d escaped town.
A great read! I really enjoyed the plot and how complex the characters’ lives were. I always enjoy the hope, love, and restoration evident in all your books! Thank you!
Loving this series, and each book seems to be even better than the previous one. Aiden has been a very minor character throughout the series, so it was cool he got his own story, and he was a very likable character. Bridget was new, but brought excitement and suspense to this great story
Bridget had to leave Last Chance years ago. She has stayed under the radar, but circumstances has brought her back. Aiden thought she was dead. Will working together bring the trust they need in one another?
While the suspense and such were what I expected from this series, this storyline wasn’t. It was a second chance romance, which was lovely. It just didn’t seem as connected to the overarching series goal as the others. I’m interested to see where this series ends up.
Lisa Phillips doesn't disappoint. Expired Getaway is filled with suspense, surprises, and humor. Part of chapter 11 had me laughing because I could picture the scene and conversation.
After everything she’s been through, she didn’t see this one coming. Her best friend betrayed her! This epic read will leave your heart pounding. There’s betrayal, mystery, and friends from old.
