Moondust Cove holds too many memories and too much pain to keep Gentry Tomlinson grounded, but the small town does have one thing he wants. No, make that two. Everlee Armstrong, his longtime neighbor, and his family. What's left of them, that is. Staying away eases the pain and allows him to forget--at least for a little while--his guilt over the tragic deaths of his parents and sister. But when his friend and business partner dies and Gentry returns home for Gramps's summer wedding, the tug to stay and grow roots is stronger than the pull to leave again.
Interior Designer Everlee Armstrong has loved the youngest Tomlinson brother since he used to chase her on the playground in elementary school. But until the prodigal accepts that the accident that scarred his family wasn't his fault and finally comes home to stay, she'll keep that secret forever. That secret threatens to unravel, though, as his amazing talent surfaces, and they're forced to work together on several projects at work.
Will God unshackle the chains of guilt and heal him? Can Everlee trust that the wanderer is finally home to stay? Will his summer's return set her secret free? Or will he abandon her yet again?

I received an ARC and voluntarily offer this review.
A tender and emotionally gripping story that pulls you in from the first pages. This Tomlinson series has had such deeply touching stories and each one is a stand alone with it's own creative uniqueness.
This story of Gentry and Everlee is full of memories from the past and how debilitating they can be. Faith is a strong and central part, but in a moving and visible manner. For Gentry there is the added burden of guilt that he wears like a well worn jacket. For Everlee she remains stuck in a past because of the love that she has always had for Gentry. Characters from earlier books take a central part in this book.
A very enjoyable and ultimately uplifting book that is a great addition to this wonderful series.
I received an ARC copy of this book. This is my voluntary and honest review with my own personal opinions. VICKI FROM WYOMING
I love this series and everything related to the Tomlinson brothers. I've been anticipating Gentry and Everlee's story since the glimpses into their past childhood friendship. Gotta love two characters fearful of having unrequited love for each other!
Dora Hiers has hit it out of the park once again with an engaging story from the first page. It's been a few months since I read Book 2, but the way this book is written... well, it's like I just put the lat book down. It all came back with the little reminders about the characters. Having said that, this book would hold up as a satisfying standalone.
A wonderful series... hoping there will be a book for Trip? Please? 😉
I received an ARC of this book from the author, Dora Hiers, via Bookfunnel and this is my voluntary and honest review. This is a great book about forgiveness and letting go of the past that gives Gentry and Everlee a second chance at love. They have been close friends since childhood but that was put on hold for many years when Gentry left after his parents and sister died in an auto accident. He always felt like it was his fault so stayed away until he came home for his brother's wedding. After seeing how God transformed Mannix, he decided to put God first. Then he was able to see Everlee as more than a friend. I loved this book and highly recommend it. The author does a great job of making the reader feel like a part of the story and it is truly a Christian romance.
We can attempt to run from God and His plans for our lives. Yet He pursues is and provides for us in miraculous ways. Why do we doubt this. In this story Gentry left town after loss and guilt took over his life only to find God leading him back home. Back home to where his best friend and lifetime crush Everkee had stayed. But could there still be a chance for them as a couple? Gentry was still guilt ridden and seeking peace. Everlee doesn’t know how long Gentry will ever stick around. Or will he run at first sign of trouble. Can they trust God to show them the next step? I enjoyed this story about forgiveness, second chance romance, following Gods leading, and finding peace in Gods will.
Dora Hiers has so much understanding of what goes through a teenager’s mind and emotions. Gentry Tomlinson took on the burden of his parents and sister’s death just as his older brothers had. Mannix was mad at everyone for their deaths leaving him feeling responsible for his brothers, Trace blamed his mother and sister, therefore all women and Gentry felt his dad had been distracted while driving because he had thrown a fit about them not being at his game. All of them were wrong but that totally impacted their lives for years. While the women who loved them waited, God was working in their lives. This story and the two accompanying ones are testaments to the power and caring of our God.
This is my voluntary review of a copy I received from the author.
Overtly Christian with a great lesson about forgiveness and love... and thankfulness. Oh man, this one hurts.
The man's burden of guilt is so heavy that it hurts to read about it. He knows he doesn't deserve forgiveness, but everyone in his family and his old friends remind him that forgiveness is a gift, not a wage to be earned.
The woman isn't burdened by guilt, but by fear. She's strong in faith in almost all areas. Her heart is so locked on a future with Gentry that she's as trapped in fear that he'll leave as he is in guilt.
You might not need a whole box of tissues, but keep a few handy.
This is an exceptional book of what it is to really love someone and want the best for them. Everlee is a woman with a faith that is wonderful, she stands beside Gentry and is his good friend no matter how much it hurts her that he doesn't return her affection. Gentry has been holding onto guilt since his parents and sister were killed in a car accident. He can't even be in his hometown as it hurts too much. This story shows how God is so interested in every aspect of our lives. He doesn't give up on Gentry either. A story brimming with love, laughter and romance you don't want to miss. I received a free download of this book from the publisher. This review is my own honest opinion.
So Good. Everlee had loved Gentry forever, but after he left town when his parents and sister were killed in a car accident, she couldn't fulfill her life's dreams. I enjoyed seeing Gentry find his way back to God and lose the guilt that consumed him. And Everlee afraid to hope he was home to stay. I read this in a day, it was so good I couldn't put it down. If you like clean, wholesome stories, you will enjoy 'Summer's Return'. I received this book from the publisher. The thoughts and comments are my own.
Gentry and Everlee have loved each other as friends—and maybe even more—since childhood so it was devastating to Everlee when Gentry left home for years and didn’t look back following the car accident that claimed the life of his parents and sister. This is a sweet story of reconciliation—first the reconciliation between Gentry and God and then between Gentry and Everlee. If you’ve ever had trouble forgiving yourself, then this is the book for you. Highly recommend! I was entrusted with a copy of this book by the author and this is my voluntary and honest review.
The author has a talent for creating unique love stories that inspire you to trust that God has a plan for each of us. Over and over her characters observe His work in the lives of their friends and family. They just have to have faith and believe that He also has a plan for them. Throughout the story she expertly shows how Gentry and Everlee's faith and love grow throughout the story. Beautifully written! I received this copy free from the author and am under no obligation to leave a review. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am freely sharing my opinion.
There’s nothing I love more than a story about second chances. When that story is written by one of my favorite Christian writer’s Dora Hiers, I know I’m in for an emotional read. Gentry and Everlee are well developed characters who take the reader along on their long and not so easy road to forgiveness. Summer’s Return is a beautifully written and inspiring story that leaves the reader believing with faith, all things are possible.
This has been an inspirational Christian romance. Gentry left home after graduation hoping to leave behind the sorrow of his sister and parents deaths. He had left behind Everlee, his best friend. Now he has returned home to attend his grandfathers wedding after the loss of his mentor. Can Everlee forgive him and trust him to not leave again? Will he and Everlee be able to find their happily ever after?
Guilt for the deaths of his parents and sister has tormented Gentry for many years. This books takes us on his journey to accepting forgiveness and being able to put down roots in his home town and reconnect with his family and first love Everlee. I received this book as an ARC and this is my review.
A beautiful, clean and inspirational second chance romance. Gentry and Everlee’s story is full of wonderful characters and a well developed storyline. Come along and follow as we see how God’s grace and forgiveness works in their lives. Fantastic story! I received an advance copy of this book from the author, however, I voluntarily wrote an honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.
I think this is the book I enjoyed most out of the three, though I enjoyed them all. I believe this series was the first time I've read anything from this author but it won't be my last. I love to read about the power of God's love and His forgiveness and how He extends both to us, so that we may be an extension of Him. To God be all glory!
A wonderful and sweet novella. I loved these characters and their second chance. It was worth waiting for. I both devoured and savored this romance. It felt like home.
I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Can Gentry and Everlee have a second chance? Gentry left his hometown just after graduating from High School trying to run away from the guilt for his parents and sister’s death. But he left behind his heart and his best friend Everlee. Is he finally back for good?
Gentry is a very interesting character. He returns after 10 years of wandering around. In everyone's mind is the question, will he stay this time. You must read this book. It is very interesting, inspiring and refreshing.
Well this third book in this series as fantastic. It was so great that I'm sad that it was over. I would have loved to have more to read about this family.
This is a great series. They show how God brings you home and gathers you close to you let Him he helps you forgive yourself and gain the loves of your life .
Summer's Return is a sweet, inspirational book about love, God's grace and forgiveness. The story sparkles with Ms. Hiers' remarkable characters. Gentry has been in so much pain for way too long. Will he finally turn back to God and give his burdens to the Lord?. This book is the amazing story of Gentry and Everlee's path to love and acceptance. I highly recommend this book.
