I really wanted to like this story. I’ve read others by this author that include this couple so I figured I’d go back and read their story.
1.) we never got a real explanation on why Zora was so anti-men. It was just random throw away reasons that really had no merit.
2.) I know it was a clean romance, but some of the sayings to replace cuss words were super juvenile. It just made them sound childish.
3.) The take a knee thing. The book is named after this whole dynamic and for it not to have even been hinted at or mentioned until 75% of the book was random. It felt like a hot button topic to have as “the conflict” but it wasn’t fleshed out well at all. That could’ve been an excellent opportunity to use this platform. It could’ve been dove way better and I felt like it totally missed the mark for me. I wanted to see them discuss their stances. Talk through their differences. Actually deal instead of “oh I looked it up. Zora was right. All good!”
I won’t be rereading this. I still love some of the other books by her but this was a definite no for me.
Ok.. So I read the no so clean version and loved … the clean was good to but I am just so glad to see my favorite author back… I liked to we went cray cray
