Maybe a 3.5-star or a 4-star if I had read this book, Xiềng Xích by Khanh Ẩn, a few years sooner.
Glad I gave this book another chance after the abomination Quyền Quý Ngũ Chi Sơn which royally challenged my insanity.
The writing also feels much smoother, the story more layered, and the characters richer in depth.
