A great read!
Zach Bolder is a priest and supernatural detective who is called to investigate, when people go missing in the ghost town of Walhalla. A demon, devil worshipping cult, hauntings and a mystery, this book has all the elements that make a great paranormal story.
The characters are well written with sufficient background stories. I liked the idea of a supernatural detective, it's a new concept for me. The supporting characters did a good job helping the story move forward, instead of merely around for show, like we see in a lot of books.
The author has done an amazing job in creating the town, its surroundings and history. The writing is detailed and the amount of research done is evident when it comes to religious aspects, demons and rituals.
It's descriptive to the point that I felt like I was watching a movie. I could picture everything in my mind and enjoyed every bit of it.
I also liked reading about the investigation and the gadgets used. It was simple and easy to understand.
The story was fast paced and kept things interesting throughout.
My only disappointment was that the culprit was very obvious right from the start. Since it's a mystery, I expected it to be a shock when the person was revealed, but that didn't happen.
Despite that, I enjoyed the book and look forward to reading more from the author. I recommend this to everyone who enjoys the paranormal genre, but if you're scared easily, do not read it at night.
