By the time he was thirteen, Alok Kejriwal had begun to have profound spiritual experiences. Separated from his parents at birth, he was raised under the loving care of his Nana and Nani. During the course of these life-altering events, Alok realised that his life was not going to be a usual one.
Over the next few years, Alok met unusual and blessed holy men who uplifted him. He visited temples and sacred places where he had transformative experiences. In November 2011, Alok visited a remote cave near Ranikhet in Uttarakhand that changed him forever.
The Cave is an insightful, honest and deeply personal account of Alok’s spiritual journey. With characteristic candour, he shares intimate aspects of his life that bring meaning and balance to his journey as a successful digital entrepreneur.
A playbook of the principles of success that Alok has acquired over the years, The Cave details the amazing opportunities that are available to us all, if only we follow our heart as much as we follow our mind.
Born and brought up in Mumbai, Alok Kejriwal is a serial digital entrepreneur and is currently the CEO and co-founder of Games2win.
His first two companies, contests2win.com and Mobile2win, pioneered digital gaming and promotions in the world. The Walt Disney Co later acquired Mobile2win.
Alok’s first book, Why I Stopped Wearing My Socks, was a best-seller and won the C.K. Prahalad Best Business Book prize at the Bangalore Business Literature Festival in 2019.
Besides being a businessperson, Alok is an Art of Living Teacher and regularly facilitates meditation and breath workshops. He has been meditating since the last thirty years.
Alok is also a motivational speaker and has spoken at various corporate conferences, and at Wharton, Harvard Business Schools and many of the IIMs and IITs.
Alok takes a keen interest in mentoring emerging entrepreneurs and writes a popular daily blog #dhandhekibaat on Facebook and LinkedIn.
This book is an easy read for anyone who wants to understand the process and elements of spirituality. The author shares his spiritual experience while experiencing his life and the success around it. It is for people who are trying to understand the presence of higher force through a spiritually aware person's experiences.
There are two ways to live life.. one is to believe that no magic exists & the other is to believe in the magic of God Guru & Love. Alok shows us in a beautiful, innocent & a humble way how he is part of this magic, and that this is the way to live ! He is blessed and this book is a blessing !
Being in spiritual path also being an Art of Living follower, reading this book was a happiest experience. Thanks for being what you are!!! Even I have stories of similar or much deeper experience. I hope one day, I can also bring them out systematically in a book form and people would buy😀
This book is a honest reflection of Alok's spiritual journey. I would like to see more entrepreneurs like Alok to open up about their entrepreneurial journey and share their experiences. Those people who are interested to know where and who did Steve Jobs follow for his spiritual experience, they will find all the answers in this book.
While his first book focussed on his business & entrepreneurial journey from a socks manufacturer to a super successful Internet Entrepreneur, this second book takes us through his spiritual journey starting right from his childhood to the current day.
Alok shares his insightful experiences throughout the book that he encountered on this spiritual journey. Each of these experiences at various stages of his personal & professional life had a profound impact on him and help shape him as an individual who wears multiple hats. He brings in fresh perspective linking #spirituality and #entrepreneurship and how he seamlessly embraces both to his advantage.
The book is an engaging read without being preachy. Post each of his spiritual experiences that he shared, he also provides some food for thought by connecting the dots along with suggesting some related activity to the reader.
In his words, "I don't separate spirituality, work and personal life from each other. All of them co-exist beautifully for me. I thrive as a capitalist and as a spiritualist. I am comfortable in a Himalayan cave as I am in a corporate boardroom."
There are many learnings that a reader can derive from this book and same is the case with me.
The key learning which summarises all the learnings for me is - "Mix and blend spirituality, religion, entrepreneurship and professionalism in just the right proportions to get your life's cocktail right"
If you are looking for some inspiration (spiritual or entrepreneurial) this weekend, then I would suggest you go ahead and buy both his books. You won't be disappointed.
2020 is the year that put the entire human race in a cave. Giving us time to figure our way forward amidst a major pandemic. It’s a year in which I have spent a lot of time in my cave, reading more books than I ever have. The Cave - An Internet Entrepreneur’s Spiritual Journey by Alok Kejriwal is a book I am glad to have taken in to my cave. Any entrepreneurial journey is neither straight nor smooth, there are hardships and struggle, and one must have the faith, the belief to persevere through the struggles and succeed. Similarly Spirituality is about having faith and belief in the higher self, the super conscious. The book is a simple yet fascinating read about the authors spiritual and entrepreneurial journey intertwined. Some solutions can be explained and hence the problems solved, but at times problems are solved without understanding or awareness of the solution. It’s the higher self, the super conscious, the master at play. Alok narrates numerous instances where spirituality has answered an entrepreneurial / business / health problem. I strongly recommend those who are still in the cave that 2020 has put them in, and those who have been able to come out of it, to read this book. #BookLovers #LoveToRead #dntjbookclub #atozentrepreneurship
It's an easy read (one could finish the entire book in an evening if determined). Alok's style of writing is great and I loved his first book (if you are a spiritually inclined person, you'll enjoy this book as well) Coming to my issues with the book. - the book is too brief. - he sticks to his journey and when we look forward to more on to the spiritual side the book is lacking. - repetition of scenarios (I do not mean to say the same scenarios but too many similar scenarios).
If we are just to enjoy the book for an evening and not to carry over to the following day with some deeper thinking then it's fine. But unfortunately, when I come to read after reading his previous book, I tend to expect more. As we get to know Alok has a deeper understanding to things and there could be another layer or another dimension to this book.
In case there is an updated edition of this book I'll be there to finish it asap.
All the people who achieve pinnacle of success, there are always some unheard tales that plays a crucial role in shaping up their lives. I have always believed strongly in the notion that what one does in his non working hours decides his performance in the professional ones.
The book encapsulates the spiritual journey of author. His close bond with nature is well evident. How absolute peace in 'The Cave' in his voyage was a major threshold in his life is well expressed. Throughout his journey he comes across various tangible and intangible stuffs and how he derives learnings out of them is beautifully captured.
The book seems like a camera rolling over its picture continuously. There is so much to learn and forsee that once the book is completed one can't stop to marvel the essence of it. The narration is on point and cover is breathtaking. A must read for all the people.
The reason i picked this one is because of the catchy title and the caption. I believe we all have a spiritual side and all we got to do is trace it. The book is written nicely with no so difficult English. The book talks about some of the miracles which Alok experienced during his evolving spiritual journey. But one question remains unanswered for me. How many babas does he believe in. Banke bihari, art of living, autobiography of a yogi, so there is reference from many places and i couldn't put it into perspective. But all in all a short good read which will encourage you to embark a spiritual journey.
I will keep the review short. I received the book, finished it in one day. I am going to keep it handy for random reading.
I posted about the book in other WA groups, ordered extra copies for gifting purpose while I was in the middle.
So in summary, I loved the book and strongly recommended.
I am a simple guy, if the book has Babaji, Neem Karoli Baba, I am going to love it. They are my superheroes. Life will not be the same once Babaji enters in your life.
Easy breezy feel good book on belief, spirituality and importance of having an open mind. Kejriwal has narrated some really surreal incidents from his life and the importance of spirituality in his life and what it means to have a Guru whom you can trust and surrender to. Read of you have an open mind and heart!
Another book from Alok in which he shared experience. In this book he has spiritual connections and how it influenced his life. I loved the key take aways at the end of each chapter. I loved reading it especially at a time when we were going through the pandemic and the impression it left on me. I definitely recommend this book, go and grab a copy if you haven't already.
Pretty quick and easy read. Firstly the author has chosen to express his views and personal experience without thinking twice, or without bothering how people will judge him; and as per him, people have judged him quite well! So kudos!
However, I could see an overall "confirmation bias" written all over and across the stories. But it's good anyway, if certain things work for individuals.
Story close to my heart . For many years visiting my Grandparents in Ranikhet , visit to neem karoli baba ashram , Dronagiri and not to forget Haidakhan
