Great start to the True North series!

I'm looking forward to the rest of the True North series & spinoffs after these 3 books. I've already read the Brooklyn Hockey series, so was looking forward to book 4 Bountiful before I started Bittersweet.

I love that Sarina Bowen weaves the characters throughout the various books so you get a more complete story for all of the characters as each book explores a different love story.

Bittersweet was a great introduction to the True North universe! I loved meeting all of the Shipley family members & their closest friends. I look forward to the ongoing timeline as their stories pan out.

I've never been to Vermont, but I could picture the farm/orchard landscape based on my own experience of living in northern Minnesota & having family & friends who farm here & in Wisconsin - just no actual mountains around here. I could completely understand the banter at the farm & the sense of obligation Griff has regarding his family & the farm. My mom is from a small farming community in Wisconsin & I pictured my aunt's farm down there & her hometown while reading. It made the book setting more vivid in my mind. I loved the humorous parts & the Star Wars references.

Steadfast was interesting, Jude has a very different back story than Griffin or any of the Brooklyn hockey characters! The book has some big revelations & a twist! I couldn't help but feel for Jude & Sophie as I read about their history together. Many people long for a second chance with their first love from high school, but most don't have the baggage Jude & Sophie have to deal with. I'm glad that Jude's story is on an upward trajectory!

Keepsake is another unusual story. Zach was expelled from a cult as a teenager & found the Shipley family. His back story is unusual enough, but Lark has a much more turbulent recent event that makes their love story truly unique. I ejoyed the character of Zach in the first 2 books & his book didn't disappoint.

BITTERSWEET: Loved it. Big functional families living in old farmhouses and working together and communicating like adults and contributing to their community. 5 stars.

STEADFAST: Loved it, but had to pause reading partway through because the tension was killing me. Very glad I came back to it a few weeks later. All that tension really paid off.

KEEPSAKE: Loved seeing Zach and Lark find their way from dark experiences to bright presence in each other and promising future.
