Though popular in school, but not a snob, Rachel never considered for a moment that life would be any other way. Until it wasn't! Bad investments and poor planning by her father have left the family’s reputation and finances in dire straits. Despite his empty promises to fix things, she finds her bank account nearly empty and her car and condo repossessed. With no college education or skills to speak of, it's either move back in with daddy at thirty-seven, or find an alternative way of life.
When her best friend Andi comes to the rescue, Rachel is relieved and thankful, but with Andi’s upcoming nuptials, Rachel is a fifth wheel and knows her days are numbered. As she watches her balance in her bank account dwindle, it’s do or die time for Rachel. With zero job experience she obtains a job as a waitress at a popular local diner. Her first few days are a disaster and end in total humiliation. But as time goes on and with a steely resolve Rachel works hard to become an asset at the diner, much to her family’s surprise and embarrassment. With little cash, but money she has earned, she manages to rent a rundown apartment and slowly but surely builds a life on her terms.
Enter Joe Hastings, a handsome and former classmate that makes a living on the water. Joe fishes and traps lobster providing a variety of fresh seafood for the local restaurants. As Joe and Rachel’s encounters become more frequent at the diner, the attraction between the two begins to grow. As Joe and Rachel become closer and the sparks begin to fly, she can’t imagine a future that doesn't include Joe. But trouble starts when a former boyfriend, Carter Fleming, attempts to woo Rachel back. Carter has political aspirations and wants her by his side. As pressure mounts from Carter and her parents, trying to rebuild their reputations, it’s clear to Rachel they’ll never accept Joe and the life she has created. When their two worlds collide Rachel must make a choice. A life filled with luxuries that comes with a price, or a simple life with an honest man she can’t live without.
Tia Souders’, Changing Tides, (Bayshore Beach Book 2) is a winner. It’s a sweet romance filled with wonderful characters you will either love or dislike. The story-line, sometimes serious, sometimes funny, but always on point kept me interested and turning the pages. I loved Joe’s character the most. He was kind and sensitive to Rachel’s needs and loyal to those he loved. Carter of course was the polar opposite, arrogant and self serving, easily disliked. Changing Tides was a smooth transition from the first novel Calloway Cove and although you can read Changing Tides without reading Calloway Cove, I would recommend starting with the 1st novel in the series. Changing Tides will mean so much more knowing the friendships that exist among the women and the bonds that hold them together.
So if you are looking for a weekend read or a novel you can curl up with on a cold winter night, consider Changing Tides, (Bayshore Beach Book 2) by Tia Souders. A Sweet Romance with a pleasing story-line and delightful characters you’ll enjoy.

Andi's best friend, Rachel comes from a very wealthy family and she has never had to work a day in her life. Her father has always paid for her condo, car, clothes and anything she ever needed. Rachel finds herself in a major predicament when she is locked out of her condo and her car is repossessed. She turns to Andi for a temporary place to live. She finds a low wage job in a cafe and meets a fisherman. Romance sparks but her parents are not happy that their daughter would date someone below her wealthy status. I've waited AGES for Rachel's story (and remember the itch of impatience when I read Andi's book, knowing Book 2 wouldn't be out for months! 🤣), and loved every moment of it. The realness to her situation, her "fall from society", family complications, her life in crisis. And Joe. Oh boy. *waves a fan in face* What a beautiful, sweet man. Ah! PERFECTION!
I LOVE this author!! She always writes so well. This story is so good! Fantastic characters that are so fun, storyline that is different and interesting, book series best read in order but can absolutely be read as stand-alone. I had a really hard time putting the book down. Absolutely worth the read. If you like her work, you won’t be disappointed!
Great reading about Rachel's father losing his fortune and Rachel left without a way to support herself after a life of luxury. Find out hoe she meets the challenge and finds love.
I had bought the first book in the series, loved it so bought this one and loved it too. Good clean light reading that held my attention. Have bought the third book in the series, Cassie's story, to round out the three girls stories. Will follow this author from now on, love her writing style.
Changing Tides is a great book.Rachel was from a prominent family and at age thirty-seven her father got in financial trouble. Her car was repossessed and she lost her condo on the same night. The story begins. Very good. Jeanette Stracner
Pampered rich girl in her 30's has to come home. She has her car repo'd, condo gets a key change and she has no funds. She gets a job as a waitress, shows up in high heel shoes. Since she has never cooked for anyone, she doesn't even know how to make coffee. Let the adventure begin.
I DNF this book. I liked the plot and the characters. The story was fine, but very repetitive - lost car, lost condo, no skills, no work history. I just got bored. The story could also use a good editor (few grammar and punctuation errors).
A sweet beautiful read. Love how Rachel takes her life back after losing everything. Love how Joe loves her and supports her. Their ending is beautiful.
In this delightfully charming story, a remarkably resilient woman finds out about her life of reality, genuine love, and friendship by learning from the circumstances and people around her!
