I believe he has updated the information in his new book and I would like to read it. The info on fats is not current, but there is some good, helpful information on supplements that help the heart.

Interesting read. Taught me a lot about plaque - there are two kinds, one more dangerous than the other. Also about the "New Cardiology" and recent techniques in assessing/treating cardiovascular disease. These two doctors believe in supplements as well as exercise and eating your vegetables, and medical Rx as necessary for those who need it. A lay person can understand their book. They explain what HDL and LDL do in the bloodstream and how LDL is not a "bad guy" until it gets oxidized by free radicals. They also explain various standard cardiology tests as well as new ones currently available. They acknowledge that new discoveries will soon add to the knowledge base of how our hearts and bodies' vascular systems work.

Natural Heart Protection

Great info for those seeking natural methods for prevention of HBP, CVD and many inflammatory auto-immune issues. Plenty of research resources.

This book was recommended to me by Dr. Wright in Provo. He has some alternative views about high cholesterol and has educated us as well as treated us for years. The main push of this book is to lower your inflamation, not your cholesterol. They say a blended approach is necessary (surgery when needed, then healthy diet, supplements and exercise). They give an extensive report of the vitamins and other things to accomplish less inflamation as well as dietary recommendations (25% protein, 25% carbs, 50% fruits and veggies). It is a good resource on what to stay away from and I have found that helpful. I'm in Germany now on vacation for the next two weeks and will be taking some additional tests as per Dr. Wright when we return to see where we go from there.

This book is based on 2005 understanding of CVD. Actual current science has disproven a lot of the basic concepts and treatments advocated here. The author confuses relative risk outcomes of statin therapy with actual absolute risk. ( less than .O5% impact on outcomes only extending life by 4 days over 10 years using their own best case convoluted statistical analysis ) The antidotal stories of the efficacy of certain compounds are interesting, but not backed up by any science that would identify a mere association with an outcome and an actual effector of a result. Science today has shown that statins have very minimal impact on outcomes and the very significant side effects of diabetes and cognitive impairment etc. make the anti-inflammatory effect weak at best.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone out there wanting to know about cardiovascular disease and how to prevent it/combat it. A lot of what I grew up knowing about CVD was challenged in this book by what these doctors call New Cardiology. It combines both modern and natural medicine- something I wish more doctors were open to doing.

This has been my go to book for several years. I have brought it to appointments with my internalist, MD. And quoted from it. I use vitamin supplements he recommends and my last blood tests March, 2024 showed marked improvements over previous test results.

“Reverse Heart Disease Now: Stop Deadly Cardiovascular Plaque Before It's Too Late” by Stephen Sinatra and James C. Roberts with Martin Zucker is a program based on the practice and research of cardiologists Sinatra and Roberts on how modern medicine, over-the-counter vitamins and supplements, and lifestyle changes can make your heart healthy. The book aims to help those with cardiovascular disease and those who wish to prevent it from developing.

Cardiovascular disease is a killer, and according to Sinatra and Roberts, there are things you can do to reverse and prevent it. This is an easy to read book with practicable and doable steps to fight this condition that affects approximately 70 million Americans. (With millions who die from it.)

The first part of this book contains three chapters that focus on how we get clogged. The doctors explain what death by inflammation is, discuss the cholesterol obsession and why that is the wrong thing to focus on, and twelve risk factors for cardiovascular disease.

Part two of the book, How to Get Unclogged, contains nine chapters explaining what you can do to reverse or prevent this disease. These chapters include the topics: test you need, medication, supplements, detoxing, anti-inflammatory diet, exercise, defusing stress, and how to put it all together in a program for you. There are also resources and references listed in the back of the book.

The information is presented with the science to back it up, along with the doctor's clinical experience and what it has done for patients of theirs. There are personal recommendations in the chapters, and things such as costs are also included. I liked how they said, “well, if you can't do everything, at least do these.” I added to the supplements I regularly take after reading this book.

Because there are so many people suffering and dying from cardiovascular disease and the heart attacks and other ailments that come with it, there are quite a few books on the topic. Many say similar things, and I think it is important to study from different sources and determine just what is best for you. When a number of doctors say the same thing, those things should really be paid attention to. I think this is a very good guide for anyone concerned with cardiovascular disease. It presents simple things you can do before you have a heart attack, as well as what you should be doing if you've already had one.

Latest in the NEW Cardiology
from three heart surgeons
I'll be adding at least one supplement
D-Ribose
for a tryout to see if it makes a difference
Interestingly enough
Several diseases including Congestive Heart Failure--
mine--
are seen as possible mitochondrial problems
which come on in advancing age
and are aided by supplements
Fibromyalgia Diabetes and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome included
but the basic aim
is to stabilize plaques and eliminate plaque buildup
by aiding the body in reducing inflammation
with a goal of no hospitalizations needed
and a long life of high quality living

Good book, but can be a bit hard to follow. This is based on the subject matter. If this is something you are familiar with then you should be okay. I consider myself knowledgeable on this subject and I still had to go back and listen to a few areas again. This is one book where you might want to have both the Audio and paper versions available for better understanding.

Really liked this book. My cholesterol has been creeping up over the last year. Doctor just prescribed a statin. Dr. Sinatra has an interesting take on cholesterol levels and that inflammation is highly responsible for cardiovascular disease. He provides an integrated program of vitamins, diet, medication, exercise and stress relief.

I picked up this book following my husband's heart attack and feel very armed with information for him to take to his next cardiology appointment. I learned a lot, and especially loved this cardiologist's approach to a combination of eastern and western medicine.
