I was informed that the original copy of Skyview that I had was an unedited version. So Mr. Sheehan was kind enough to send me the right copy of the book so I could give it a second chance.

Second attempt with Skyview. I'm not going to say much because I think it was just the wrong book for me. Too many characters and too much history. If you are a diehard science fiction fan who happens to love history and has a photographic memory to keep the immense cast of characters straight, then this might be the perfect book for you! I unfortunately, do not possess any of those qualities and had a difficult time with it.

Skyview - Lord of the wills by M. Sheehan is an adventure with the touch of history and mystery. This is a very well researched book and the story line sounds so great.

Eight families is on a mission to discover the 700 years old wealth that belongs to them. William Ward finds out he is the 21st heir of the fortune. He and 8 others along with his uncle travels through the history to find the lost treasure.

Alright, the author asked me to read this book inexchange of an honest review, the blurb sounded so good so I decided to give it a try. I received this book about a month ago. It took me a month to pick my ereader because I had a lot on my pile. Life or DEATH problems, I just couldn't do anything besides focusing on the issues and solving it. Sorry for the late :(

I really feel bad for giving two-star rating to this book and I felt horrible to give up the book. I pushed myself to finish this book but I gave up in the middle. I am sorry but the writing made so hard to keep up with the story. Wide cast of characters, dialogues and the Character development were pretty bad and the writing seemed forced. The story had so much potential but imo it wasn't handled well.

This is not my cup but it'd be enjoyed by the right audience. Thank you to the Author for providing a review copy inexchange of an honest review.

Don't let the huge cast of characters intimidate you; SkyView has a great story! At times, I found the family lineages to be overwhelming and because the names were unfamiliar, I spent a lot of time flipping to the front and looking to see how a person connected to the story, but as the story picks up steam, all of that falls away. I enjoyed how the author used futuristic tech in our modern, ordinary world; it made the character's transition from the ordinary to the extraordinary full of surprises.

A gripping, action packed tale of adventure, mystery and intrigue that will keep the reader engaged throughout. Historical fiction is fused with fantasy to unleash an elaborate and complex series of schemes and events spanning seven hundred years. The HoloTable, a kind of magic crystal ball, is a piece of wizardry that presents historical events in real time and in life-like imagery. It is the theatre of the techno alchemist. This unique and fantastical medium showcases dark conspiracies, and a cast of characters fighting over a ancient fortune sealed in a cryptic Will, originating in the recesses of Medieval history. The story is marked by the historic conflicts between feuding bloodlines, the Ward League and the Alvero line.

It is William Ward, the 21st descendant in the bloodline, who is “entrusted wit the protection” of a vast wealth. He was further mandated with the task of destroying the Alvero line. The feuding bloodlines operate outside the “Cradle,” a shadow world so no government knows they exist. There is a pervading sense of morality—good versus evil—as in many fantasy genres. “The Alvero line is responsible for the wildest of the world’s atrocities,” reported Cillian to William Ward. “…you will always see a special kind of evil weaving it’s way through time,” he added.

The cast of characters and main protagonists are well defined, believable, and often entertaining, within the context of their respective roles. Occasionally, the story gets bogged down in some wordiness and the minutiae of minor details, but that does not detract from the main thrust of a good book. This gallant effort by the author deserves particular commendation due to the scope of imagination and complex interplay between characters and historic events going back centuries. As such, M. Sheenan does a masterful job in tying together all the main ingredients to make this a well written novel which I’m sure readers will thoroughly enjoy.

M. Sheehan is an impeccable writer.  His novel has four of my favorite things rolled into one book: Action, adventure, mystery, and charm. It kept you hooked from beginning to end.
The story follows William Ward as he searches for his family’s mysterious 700-year old wealth. However, others before him have sought out the fortune and come ended up empty handed not to mention Eight other family lines are on a quest to control the family’s wealth. Ward is tasked with destroying the evil leader of this bloodline.
If Ward wishes to receive the inheritance, he must discover the truth about history, and survive the disinherited heirs trying to prevent him from doing so.
This novel was a wonderful blend of science fiction, historical fiction, action and adventure, and mystery. M. Sheehan is truly a wizard with words and does a virtuoso job creating a cast of well defined, realistic, and charming characters and beautiful world filled with imagination.

Skyview is a gripping, roller coaster ride from start to finish. It is an amalgamation of history, adventure, action and mystery making it a typical product of a Hollywood blockbuster.

Particularly noteworthy is how the author has taken an extra effort to describe every scene in great detail that it seems that the reader is actually living it or is part of the story.

The protagonist and all the other characters are also well defined and the reader can easily relate to them. What made the book more interesting is the amount of twists and mystery fed in, making it more than just a regular adventure book.

Recommended to all who enjoy adventure/history books.

Wow, what a fantastic read. Struggled to do my day job while trying to read this one. Highly recommended read. When you thought you knew everything abut your family and it gets turned completely upside down. I received a free copy of this book from the author, via Voracious readers, in exchange for a review.

I was given a copy of this novel by the author for an unbiased review, and to say that it was a good read is somewhat of an understatement. While it isn't a perfect read--what is--it has a solid premise, enough future tech and magical realism to satisfy anyone, and a rich cast of diverse characters.

This novel dares to reimagine history, going back in time over a period of seven hundred years to see which person will inherit a great prize. That's on the surface. Underneath, though, is a web that's intricately designed. You can tell the author did his homework, putting in the right amount of detail here and there to paint an amazing portrait.

Now, there are a few minor drawbacks. The houses involved with their heirs and whatnot can get a little confusing. The author did provide a nicely laid out family tree to explain who's who and what's what, but I found myself referring back to it periodically to confirm who was doing what!
Still, that was minor. I also found the dialogue at tad stilted here and there, but it didn't diminish my enjoyment of the novel, which is why I rated it at five stars.

And I want that ship!

Recommended.

Sheehan stands out as a creative author who can kindle our enthusiasm, as he weaves a brilliant tale in "SkyView: Lord of the Wills". The fresh and intriguing plot has beautifully blended features: A theme centred around the protagonists chasing a huge wealth; a medieval historical puzzle intertwining modern-day feud among the family heirs over 700 years; the history that comes alive through SkyView - a supersonic jet with AR, to digitally reconstruct the events of the past; sophisticated AI ship and magical HoloTable.

The book explores history from a different perspective. Sheehan establishes the amazing reality that some powerful people behind, have twisted it deliberately. Besides, the adventure, action, fantasy, suspense, mystery and drama elements built into the story, aroused a non-stop curiosity in me.

The story revolves around the 'Wills' left behind by eight wealthy promoters of a group company who founded it in 1318. The founders are from eight different countries - The UK, The Netherlands, Ireland, France, Bohemia, Greece, Germany and Spain, united in Switzerland for business objectives.

Owing to differences of opinions on operational matters they part ways thus leading to factions of good and evil forces -'Pillars'. An ill-conceived succession plan in the 'Wills' triggers cruel conflicts between the rival 'Pillars', who are fighting even in the 21st century, to establish the legitimate 'Lord' for the massive wealth.

Sheehan has dexterously chosen the hero's name as "Will-I-Am' -- William -- a British -- who discovers that the company he has been working for, was originally promoted by his great-grandfather -- one of the architects of the 'Wills'! He is startled to know that he can inherit a huge fortune as a legal heir.

William learns that his grandfather died mysteriously. The cryptic will tempts him to unravel the mystery and go all out for the hidden fortune. The thought that every man is the architect of his destiny forces him to undertake a challenging quest. He digs into a murky past. He doesn't know that he has to face many impediments, betrayals, seclusion and astonishing realities. The story gets interesting when his mission is facilitated by six more legitimate heirs of the founders. They are challenged by the antagonists - 'disinherited' heirs from the rival factions of the splinter group!

The protagonists make bold attempts to corroborate their legitimacy for the ancestral properties, through the 'Wills'. The 'Wills' cryptically link events through the history, which they need to decipher, only via the SkyView. They need to untie the knots of schemed conspiracies that happened in the 13th century. Puzzling dirty politics, shadowy past and mysterious connections emerge.

The heroes realize that they have to always put their best foot forward. They know no gain without pain. The unsuspecting heroes do wrong speculations and suffer mental drains, due to the misleading acts of deceptive enemies. Their cohesion gets challenged by the clever enemies who try to manipulate the SkyView, thereby the contents in the wills, to their favour.

The story spirals into intriguing twists with an unguessable end. How the mysterious dots in the wills are going to be connected to evolve the big picture? That indeed galvanized my interests throughout!

Sheehan perfectly portrays William by depicting his multifarious abilities. He has handled the other character developments distinctively. A reader can see a piece of himself within the characters.

To invigorate the intelligent storyline, Sheehan with his wisdom and imagination cohesively handles some extraordinary features: Eidetic memory; cypher codings; invisibility shields; cradle - a parallel world operation by faking one's death! He describes through vivid scenes: Drive-in volcano; graphene embedded forearms for defence, mind-link communication, unlocking secrets through trace DNA; and fake arrests. Indeed, I felt like travelling in William's ship and the SkyView!

Sheehan engages the reader by carefully structuring the storyline with authenticity. He has beautifully brought out the conflict between the good and evil 'Pillars'. He maintains a good tempo, stays focussed on his aim and with balanced narratives and dialogues, he delivers satisfaction.

However the brakes in between: innumerable characters; unresolved suspense; repetitions; some incomprehensible descriptions.

Sheehan doesn't sound like a neo-author. The plot is well-researched with deep-rooted history interleaves, which sometimes make you wonder whether it's fiction or real!

My favourite lines: “To reach the heights of heaven you must also reach the depths of hell"; "Success is when opportunity meets preparation." The book with such numerous appreciable lines (I enjoyed ~ 50 lines), ticks the right chords.

I plan to read the sequel to understand how the remaining knots will be untied.

In essence: Efficacious plot with a very good entertainment quotient. A reader will certainly enjoy wonderful moments with the uniqueness and conceptual intensity in the storyline. You too can delight in a panoramic virtual tour across Europe and Africa as the story draws you in! Bonus - Amazing facts!!

For my first book review of 2021, I wish to speak of how I was transported on a whirlwind journey through time, space, and reality in the utterly unique and mind-bendingly fantastic book, "Skyview: Lord of the Wills" by the masterful Murray Sheehan. This is the opening novel in a planned seven-book epic series encompassing the "Lord of the Wills".

I have never read a novel, prior to Sheehan's work, with such a completely fresh and original concept. Sheehan certainly knows how to please me as a reader, as he somehow deftly manages to weave three distinct genres - thriller, sci-fi, and historical fiction - into one captivating book. Since Sheehan accomplishes this genre-blending in seamless fashion, "Skyview: Lord of the Wills" feels like a mash-up of the Star Trek, James Bond, and Indiana Jones movie franchises. It goes without saying that the aforementioned were all mega-blockbuster hits, and I am excited to proclaim that I believe so will be "Skyview: Lord of the Wills." This is the sort of book that is completely worthy of being created into a high octane screen flick. It's simply brilliant!!!

The protagonist of the book is William Ward, a man born in the twentieth century, but - unbeknownst to him - with deep and compelling links to the distant past. William, along with his father, work for the Interlaken Beer Company, which is a corporation that is far more complex than hops and barley. Interlaken was founded by eight families, approximately 700 years prior to William's birth. One of those originating families was William's family.

There was a dynastic struggle for power amongst the eight lineages, for a vast accumulation of riches hidden by the ancestral William Ward, 14th century patriarch of the present-day William's family. With the assistance of his father and uncle, modern William Ward soon learns that he is the rightful heir to the lost fortune. Moreover, William is essentially the leader of all the living members of the other seven families, although one of those families has spawned a malevolent, rebellious line, determined to steal the fortune.

This pernicious line, is also responsible for numerous acts of evil throughout history. William, in charge of the loyal six lines, is bequeathed the mission of leading his allies to destroy the evil line once and for all. Nonetheless, as William attempts to follow clues, all over the world, in order to locate the fortune, extinguish the evil line, and stay alive, he is confronted by danger, betrayal, and unravels secrets that have far-reaching consequences for the history of mankind.

While William is essentially the titular "Lord of the Wills", the other component of the book's title - "Skyview" - is perhaps the most fun and inventive part of an exceptionally entertaining and unique story. Skyview is an Augmented Reality airplane, which houses the capability to digitally project history onto the landscape as it occurred. This technology truly astounded me, and I absolutely loved it! Kudos to Sheehan for this concept, and it really heightened the sense of wonder and adventure that can be found throughout the novel.

Additionally, as a history buff myself, I found Sheehan's painstaking research to be superlative. Sheehan really knows his history, and that glimpse into the past as it happened is one of the wonderful elements of the novel.

Readers will find it hard to put down "Skyview: Lord of the Wills", with its stirring action sequences, engrossing historical perspective, and interesting characters. Sheehan has amazing storytelling and writing abilities, and "Skyview: Lord of the Wills" will take you as the reader to dizzying heights from which you won't want to descend!

Highly, highly recommended, five out of five star page-turner!!!! Bravo Murray Sheehan on an incredible book!!! Can't wait to read the next instalment in the Lord of the Wills series!!!

Right from the first page, I knew Skyview was going to be epic. The story starts with meeting our hero William Ward, an employee who works at the family business, the Interlaken Beer Company (IBC). William’s bloodline dates back to the original Ward, one of the IBC’s founding members.

After a work party, William discovers that there is a fortune, his ancestor’s share of the IBC He embarks on a quest to trace his ancestor’s movements through history and find the treasure of his inheritance. Not only that, but he is also leading new friends, the descendants of the other founding members, who try to support William to find the treasure.

This is certainly an amazing concept, as readers will find themselves immersed in William’s epic quest as they use futuristic technology to delve into the events of the 1300s. Skyview also has a stunning global scope with breathtaking scenery.

You really feel the time pressure of the book, too, when you discover William and his friends aren’t the only ones searching for treasure – there are other descendants from the original founders who want the fortune for themselves, no matter what the cost. Pretty soon William realises he has gotten caught up in a centuries’ old fight.

The writing style is excellent – one of Sheehan’s greatest strengths is how he has skilfully blended such an epic, historical fantasy with the snappy, engaging power of a contemporary thriller, including car chases!

The only criticism I’d have of Skyview – which is why it’s not quite getting the whole 5 stars – is that at times it moves so fast, with so many references to the different descendent leagues or different historical events, it can be quite hard to follow. Also, perhaps William’s team spend so much time discussing the history of the 1300s that there isn’t quite as much character development as there could be, but this is understandable given the scope of the book. This in no way detracted me from enjoying the book, however, as I really enjoyed the concept and the author’s clear and engaging style meant even if I lost the trail a bit with the names, I could still follow what was got the larger picture of what was going on.

One of the other wonderful things about Skyview is the depths of research, not just contained to the relevant historical events in the 1300s, but also there are delicious anecdotes one of the group just drips into the dialogue, especially when the party are travelling. I often felt as I was having a world tour with William and soaking up all of the historical details for myself. I really admire the author for the rich texture of history that I imagine took years of research.

So, if you are looking for a fantastic blend between an epic historical fantasy with the global scope and punchy feel of James Bond, I’d recommend you read this Skyview! I really enjoyed it.

“The ultimate realization is that if one holds the world’s knowledge, then one can shape its reality”. The first sentence of the book already gives a clue on the unique perspective of history and time that this read has. It may not be a new idea that history is always written by the winners, but it is definitely a really interesting background for a seven-hundred-year struggle between good and evil, developed in “SkyView: Lord of the Wills” by author M. Sheehan.

This is a science fiction novel that tells the adventure of William Ward, the twenty-first century heir to the fortune of his homonymous relative, William Ward I (1296–1357). Guided by his uncle and protected by the six others with claims to the fortune, he is entrusted with the protection of that wealth, as well as the task of destroying the leader of the evil line. William sets off on a geographical and historical journey in Skyview, a supersonic jet that is able to reconstruct history. It projects history digitaly onto the landscape as it happened so secrets and manipulation can be revealed, as well as unbelievable connections can be made.

This mystery novel is perfectly plotted, fascinating, well-paced, and full of surprises. The story of William´s adventurous trip is captivating and there are certain twists and turns that make the tale really difficult to put down. I really enjoyed the descriptions and the imaginative storytelling in this book. The characters are very well developed, which makes the reader empathize with them, especially with the main one. The author describes simply but effectively William´s feelings and choices, and also fears and decisions; in such a way that you can really understand him. Also, scenes, moments and places are clearly described, by giving vivid images and visual details to readers.

In general, the writing style is very good since the author makes an equal combination of narrative and dialogues, which makes the reading faster. Sheehan’s prose is clean and lean, which makes the novel understandable for the aimed readers.

All in all, I must admit that this was one of the best historical fiction books I have read, that is why I am rating it with 5 stars. I loved its world building and I definitively recommend it.

What a fun book. This is truly a case where the novel blends many genres. There's a bit of historical fiction, fantasy, and science fiction. Skyview: Lord of the Wills is also a bit of a thriller. There's mystery, intrigue, and periods of action that reminded me of The Davinci Code. The book is definitely different than a Dan Brown novel, but I'm making the comparison because of the link between legacy/antiquity I saw in both works. I'd definitely classify this novel as speculative fiction overall, though.

The story centers on William Ward, an heir to an alleged fortune and legacy. People in William's family receive information about this family fortune, but no one has ever found it. Even more problematic, tragedy has befallen many who seek this elusive fortune. William wants adventure, though, so he goes for it despite warnings from others. Where this book departs from historical fiction is through the integration of technology. Sheehan's blending of old and new is interesting. Readers of fantasy, scifi, and general spec fic will enjoy this novel.

The first thing that I need to say is that the character reference charts that we get at the beginning of the book were so useful. I get that fantasy books have many characters and that they had odd names, but sometimes it gets difficult for me to learn all of them, so I am grateful for the author to include this very helpful thing! Also shoutout to the cover for being so cool!

As for the plot, this novel has a very interesting premise; the description caught my attention with the struggle between good and evil. However, this was not a fast read for me. You will need some time to assimilate all the information. I do not mean this in a bad way, but there are many characters, places and events, and sometimes I had to stop and think about what had happened before continuing.

The atmosphere of the novel was really interesting. It gave me journey motif vibes with all the travelling, and also kind of mentally for the main character, who grows a lot as he goes along in this adventure. It was really fun to read, and at times I got nervous about the fate of the characters (the helicopter scene about half way through for example).

Overall, I really enjoyed this story, it is somewhere in between a 3.5 and a 4, but if I had to say one negative thing, is that there was too much information thrown at the reader (facts, dates, character’s name and relation among each other) that it got a bit overwhelming.

SkyView: Lord of the Wills follows William Ward who is the heir to this wealth. Eight family lines are on an expedition to control the family’s wealth. Ward is tasked with destroying the evil leader of this bloodline. With the use of SkyView Ward goes on a geographical and historical journey to uncover secrets and connections that will aid him in the destruction of the evil that is controlling what is rightfully his.
When I first opened the book and saw the character's family tree I was a little skeptic at first because I did not want to read a dull history book. This book is far from that. Sheehan’s writing is invigorating and captivating. The historical adventure that Will goes on is exciting and intriguing. A fun read that held my attention from the very last page. Each character is well developed and full of personality. The geographical scenes in this book are very detailed so much so that I felt like I was in the book.
Science fiction, historical fiction, suspense and mystery are the main ingredients of this story and is suitable for all ages. Skyview is definitely an action-packed tale which ticks all the right boxes.

Great story! This is quite an interesting story with a good versus evil theme. This one covers a 700 year time period. William Ward is an employee for the The Interlake Beer Company. As part of the company's party celebrating it's 700 year heritage, there is a film about the history of the company. William sees that his name is mentioned and that he has a very strong resemblense to William I. Could it be that William's ancestor is William I? Well-written and a very compelling story. I really enjoyed this and will be looking for more books by this author!

This is quite good and engaging. An excellent mix of action and mystery and more. I hope the author produces some other books, since this one is a very good start. He has a good imagination and created a compelling plot with interesting characters. Recommended for sci-fi fans, but since this is such a mix, it should be enjoyed by a why audience.

700 years of alternate history.

William Ward discovers he's the heir to a vast fortune, and all he has to do is fight pure evil to keep it. As any good hero would do, he immediately quits his job and embarks on a journey around the world, determined to unravel the mysteries of his ancestors and claim his inheritance.

Lord of the Wills mixes alternate history with science fiction in a modern world setting. The writing style fits the story, and there's a detailed genealogy tree at the start of the book to guide the reader through the many generations of the different families involved in the plot.

If you enjoy long journeys and don't mind a few historical and geographical inconsistencies, you'll love this book.

The author's creativity and imagination really shine in this intense story. He has gathered a very intriguing group of characters, and placed them in an extremely unique novel.

It is slightly reminiscent of the Shadowhunters and Lord of The Rings series. This novel really makes history come alive in your mind. I was never able to keep the dates straight in school. After reading his work, I am understanding much more because of his ability to paint such vivid imagery in the reader's imagination.

This book is packed with lots of action and mystery to keep you turning the page. It is a very difficult story to put down. If you are interested in conspiracy theory and European history, then I definitely recommend this book.

William Ward is the 21st century heir to a great fortune he can only receive by discovering the truth about history, and surviving the disinherited heirs trying to prevent him from doing so.

An interesting and eventful journey!
I was very interested to read and learn what William would do with his newfound information, and what exactly was in store for him on his journey. Incredibly detailed scenes and characters, and very well written. If you enjoy reading heavily detailed action and mystery, with a bit of fantasy thrown in, this book is for you!

You can tell the author put a lot of time and effort into this novel. The story is beyond rich with historical events, but also plays into the twist of the story that demonstrates the idea that only the winners decide how history is told. Although I did struggle with keeping up with moments of dialogue, this story is beautifully written and you can tell the author crafted each sentance into perfection. For any reader that would enjoy a "Da Vinci Code" atmosphere partnered with a historic treasure hunt, mixed with fantasy elements, would enjoy this read. The information in regards to 700 years of hidden warfare can be a bit overwhelming at first, but once you grasp what's happening, it all plays into a genius story that had to take years of planning in order to craft into Skyview. Seven-hundred years, possibly. Well done!

I received this book for free as part of Voracious readers Only. I love Science Fiction and Historical Fiction and the idea of two warring factions behind the scenes of history with a hi tech modern angle really appealed. This story had so much potential, but failed to realise it.
The writing is simplistic, too obvious. Where emotions could be described by inference, just outright stating of mood was used. And lazy description. Eating a "greek inspired lunch"; what's that? For me, part of reading is being able to immerse yourself, and you can't with writing like this. The characters never develop and don't really have nuances. They are one dimensional.
I love a story that weaves historical events into its narrative, so Skyview attracted me immediately. The concept of two shadowy organisations manipulating historical events as part of their war is excellent. Unfortunately, the description of the events was largely a rehashing of Wikipedia articles, one almost word for word (I looked it up). This book needed more varied research. Unfortunately the middle third of the book basically went over the main plot points at least twice, once as the characters hypothesising and then once visualising on the Skyview Augmented Reality jet. Pretty pointless to be honest.
I really wanted to give this book a good review. I really wanted it to be better. There were some exciting episodes which is why it got two stars. At points I was hooked but then lost again. It's a great premise, but unfortunately poorly executed. I'm sorry to say, the sequel will not be read by me.

How would you feel if you woke up one day to learn that you are the heir of a vast fortune accumulated through seven centuries and that you have to fight pure evil to keep it? This is exactly what happened to William Ward. He works for the Interlaken Beer Company, and has been doing so for over a year when he discovers that he is the descendant of William Ward, an English man who, in 1318, founded the company together with other seven men from different origins. Some years after that, William Ward I mysteriously sold his part of the company and was found dead the following day. The 21st century William also finds out, from his reluctant father, that all of William’s descendants are bound to receive a letter which entrust them with the task of finding his fortune, and it is up to them to accept the challenge or not. In this way, William embarks on a journey that will change his life and all he knows about history and reality forever.
It is said that everything is written and good writers stand out when they can take those topics and reshape them to capture readers imagination to the point they feel they are reading something completely new. In “Skyview. Lord of the Wills” its author, M. Sheehan, has retelled the eternal war between good and evil in an original, imaginative and riveting way.
Although the plot is complex and relates historical events that span over seven hundread years, the author has managed to keep the narrative straightforward making it very easy to follow. I also welcomed the inclusion of science fiction elements that enrich the novel.
I think that the main focus of attention in this work is the development of the characters which is exceptionally well done. The author has drawn multiple convincing characters, each of them with their own personalitites and physical characteristics. He also included, at the beginning of the book, the genealogy of the eight family lines that appear in the story helping the reader not to get lost with names and events.
This is a wonderful book that, I am sure, will fascinate readers. I highly recommend it.

This is a rollercoaster read! My favourite type of books are the ones which mix history facts and adventure, so when I saw this novel I knew that this one would be the perfect partner in this quarantine period. The blurb was superb because it immerses you in the story. “SkyView: Lord of the Wills” is a stunning book written by M. Sheehan.

This book is about William Ward, who works in The Interlaken Beer Company. At a party for its seven hundred years of foundation, there is a short film about the history of the company, and there William sees something that catches his attention. His name is on the screen. So did his family form part of the company when it started in the year 1318? When he sees William’s I portrait, he realizes that he shares the name and appearance. Also, he remembers that he has seen all those portraits in the boardroom, but William’s I photo wasn’t there. Immediately, he starts to feel a connection and this is the moment when his life began to change. Family history sometimes isn’t easy as it seems, it carries on a heavy weight.

This book is divided into twenty chapters. Each part is more exciting than the last one, but if I have to choose one I would say that my favourite is the last one because events take a different turn. Another bit I really liked about this novel is the character’s reference at the beginning, which was really helpful for me. Every time I got lost with the names, I went back to it and checked the family’s line.

All in all, I kept finding myself thinking about the story throughout the day. I was completely immersed in each section of the book. I certainly enjoyed it from beginning to end. It was fan fiction at its finest. I thoroughly recommend it. It is certainly at the top of my list. Don’t miss it!

A well-researched, action-packed adventure where medieval feuds meet modern-day rivalries.

The lure of hidden wealth, a cryptic will, and a mysterious death prove too much for William Ward to resist. However, by delving into a murky past with roots in a fourteenth-century beer company, William soon finds he has no choice but to get involved in the complex politics of power and succession that have plagued his family for seven-hundred years.

The promises of travel, adventure, and conflict are made very early on in the story. Sheehan delivers on each of these promises, sending his main character, William Ward, on a journey to Europe, where he seeks out family secrets and becomes embroiled in rivalries that span seven centuries.

William is taken on a very steep learning curve with regard to his family history and the events of the fourteenth century, which are well researched and rich in detail. Sheehan takes care not to throw all of this at the reader at once, however at times I felt a little lost (like William!) in this background information. That being said, there is plenty of action to disperse these ‘learning’ interludes, and my curiosity to see where the story would go certainly kept me turning the pages.

If you enjoy adventure, conspiracy, and a good dose of medieval history, this book is well worth a read!
