I, Kerah Moss, was on the fast-track to becoming the first veterinarian in my family.
Academics - check.
Accolades - double-check.
But then, a drop of forbidden passion entered my life, and like with all things forbidden, trouble followed and trapped me in the relationship that led to the near-fatal car accident that ended my veterinary career.
Five years later, my life is mostly back on track. I’ve got a career I love and veterinary school is once again a possibility. Everything is perfect...except for the hot-tempered former Army pilot who comes barging into the animal rescue I run at least once a week.
Elias the Wicked.
It’s how he’s known to all the staff.
A name I created for him.
He’s rude, coarse, and bullish...but whatever he throws at me, I give it back just as good.
He’s also sinfully gorgeous.
And I want him.
He's more trouble than what I've already put myself through, but I want him.
However, everything is fine as long as I don’t find out he wants me too. As long as this coarse, bullish man doesn’t reignite the lust and desire, which I assumed I'd suppressed long ago, in the most erotic ways.
So I read this book pretty quickly. I was intrigued by the description when a friend recommended it to us in book club. The first half of the story starts off pretty strong. You have Elias who is this really broody, grumpy man who drop his niece off to volunteer at this vet clinic all the time. There he almost always clashes with Kerah, who runs the animal rescue side. They can't stand each other so naturally sparks always fly when they are in the vicinity of one another. One day Kerah decides to to stick it to him by kissing him and that changes Elias' outlook from that point on. Instead of being broody and moody all the time, all of sudden he want to get to know her and be with her because he's been loving her in secret even though he shouldnt.
Kerah has the ability to see and communicate with the dead. She can also see auras in a way. Elias always has this dark cloud shrouding him that she can't explain but it doesn't stop their chemistry from exploding even when the secrets inevitably come out.
I liked Kerah and I liked Elias and the story definitely hooked me in the first half. I loved the bits and pieces of African folklore that was sprinkled in as well. However by the second half I was starting to wondering if anything big would actually happen. There was a lot of side story about almost every character that didn't seem relevant to what was going on with Elias and Kerah. Even when the story seemed to finally hit a good peak, it ended pretty anti-climatic for me and almost predictable. I should mention the love scenes were steamy though. Not burn you panties off steamy but sexy nonetheless. Overall, great first book for me by the author and I'll have to dive into her backlist to see what else could potentially grab my attention.
Literally, the devil is Elias' puppet master who orders him to complete special assignments on his behalf. Elias Cabral owes his life, such as it is to the devil of a deal he made when his number was called. Elias isn't exactly okay with the way things are and he begins to ask questions that the devil refuses to answer. What the devil doesn't count on is, one Kerah Moss, whose kiss upends Elias' World in very lovely, sexy ways. Oh no, the devil ain't pleased at all!
Elias and Kera!!! I just… don’t even know what to say. Honestly I didn’t think K. Alex Walker could get any better and then I read this book. Being taken on Elias’ spiritual journey was intense and non stop blinding feeling. I had to stop reading toward the end and give myself time to breathe because I was so scared of what would happen to him. Kera was such a wonderful character to go down the rabbit hole with. I loved her and I love this couple!
I am literally at 54% and ready to throw in the towel. I have no clue what is going in this book. It is all over the place. I don't understand what is going on. I think I am going to quit and come back to it and try to read it from where I left off. I will update my review at that time. I honestly don't understand the reason for the 5 star reviews. Am I missing something?
This read is a true test of love. Elias and Kemah have a lot going on in their lives. Neither thinks they are worthy of real love. This book has a great storyline, a paranormal aspect, hotness, redemption and a cast of characters that make it an awesome adventure. I highly recommend you adding this to your library.
This book was heavy. In all the best ways. It touched on everything. Family issues, STDs, sibling rivalry, abandonment issues, marital affairs, mythical folklore, animal charities, grooming! Whew! It touched on some HEAVY topics… and did all of them so wonderfully. At no point did it ever feel or get preachy or battered you over the head. Twas all naturally integrated into the plot.
It was a GREAT book! Bold! Honest! Heart breaking! Tear inducing! ALL the bloody adjectives okay?! All of them.
At the beginning, I didn’t know what make of Elias, but as I continued reading and learnt the reason for his behaviour, I started to understand our flawed hero. And his better half, our flawed heroine? *chef kiss* She was a treat! I loved how humane she was. Not a perfect character. Not an idiot, but a realistic one that made SERIOUS mistakes- and LEARNT from them!
The banter? Say it with me. UH-MAH-ZING!!! Honestly, this is the second book I’ve read from this author and I love the way she handles banter between her MCs. I’m a sucker for witty sarcastic humour, so whenever I get that from characters, I’m sold!
Secondary characters were never a forgotten thought either. Which is something I absolutely love! It shows that the MCs have lives and friends outside of each other. Can’t tell you how much I love that. We get to see Kerah at work, something she lives for-working with animals! Interacting with her family and her friends. Friendships that’s she’s had and MAINTAINED outside of her relationship with Elias. Note, she didn’t become dickmatised once she got together with Elias, well, she kind of did BUT in a good way. Because, who WOULDN’T be dickmatised by Elias?! Don’t lie to yourself either. You read those same steamy scenes I did. And can I just say… whew 😰 🥵 *fans face* I think a few of those scenes fogged up my kindle. Let me get back on track. Despite the FANTASTIC sex, she never dropped her friends off in a bottomless pit somewhere. Nor did she suddenly stop showing up to work. Our girl is multifaceted. She can take a (more than) good dicking down AND have a social life AND work. 💅🏾
The same for Elias. He gave (incredible) piping sessions, loved and spoiled his woman and STILL carried out his firemen duties, hung out with his friends/coworkers and parented his niece. You CAN have it all!!! I hate when MCs finally get together and all of a sudden, nothing else exists outside of their tangled limbs. So I loved that K. Alex Walker continued to involve their friends and jobs in their story.
All I can say is- READ THIS BOOK!!! You will have ZERO REGRETS!!!!
Hey guys 🌸 How areyou all? Hope you are doing well 🌸
🍁Today I'm gonna recommend you the book which is interesting. So the book is "ELIAS THE WICKED" by @k.AlexWalker .This book is one of the best Paranormal Romance. The plot is really interesting and engaging.
🍁This book is a Paranormal romance book which comes under my favourite genre. Let's come to the cover, language and content of this book. The cover is good, language is very basic english and its pretty easy and interesting, the content is really good.
🍁This book is a true masterpiece with having authors personal touch. Elias The Wicked the main characters of this book are Elias and Kehra who played a very important role in this plot. I loved the character because they have there own importance in this whole novel.
🍁In this book you will see the flavor of mild humor, romance, and a amazing storyline. This one is a Paranormal love story. It took almost 5 years for Kerah to get back on the track. Earlier she was broken and lost almost all her hopes. And Now she is healed and doing well on her career. And the character of Elias is totally different from her he is rude, harsh but she wasn't weak and whatever he throws on her she gives it back.
🍁But he is good and she wants him.He is not less than a trouble maker and she still wants to be with him and falls for him. Everything thin was fine till Elias secret was hidden from her. He was in love with her from months back but they were not able to express that both were trying to push themselves away from each other.
🍁This book have good pace . It's interesting and you want to know what happens next you have to go and check out this book.
🍁Written very carefully, this book is something that will be a delight to read and I absolutely recommend you to read it.
Hmmm, this one has a bit of the supernatural in it that I don't think was blended well enough into the story to make it really believable or to fit within the story well. Elias is something, Kerah is also something, both but quite your average every day human. Elias is in love with Kerah from time spent getting to know her over chat, but she doesn't know it's him she's been communicating with, she only knows his screen name. However, despite his feelings for Kerah, when they see one another in person as he's dropping his high school aged niece at Kerah's animal rescue, they butt heads and verbally spar. Kerah stops that pattern one day by kissing Elias and things go up from there. The book is then a montage of them doing the new relationship stuff, a lot of scenes with other characters where each of their separate family and life issues are revealed, and them defeating the entity that Elias was bonded to.
It left the whole affair Kerah had with her married professor who is her current platonic business partner in the air as well as her VET school stuff hanging. I hated the teasers about her sister Kennedy's sexually contracted disease, I wished more than once the author would just let it be revealed. The characters were many and varied which was good for the most part though a few names and their relationships I had trouble keeping straight.
Since I am not a writer of books, I will not try to go beyond the overview already available for this book. It did what I like in a book, it captured and held my attention. The only drawback to this book is that it spent too much time on Kerah's head conversations and included lots of pornographic sex that did not capture my imagination. Plus, it is good that these people have their own home, with all the screaming and shouting they do while having sex. What about the other people in the house, especially them that you see as too young to be out having sex in their own social situations. I like detail, but I would have preferred more detail related to the Djavel. Like, when Amar was eliminated, how was his disappearance explained at the Fire Station? Why wasn't Laura and Kerah's grandfather not successful in defeating the Djavel? Why did Laura think or know that Kerah would be able to get it done?
I did like the interaction with the female co-workers and the conflict between Kennedy and Lincoln was a good side story, especially as it highlighted toxic and damaging sexual relationship issues. With Kennedy we got more detail of how her and Eric progressed to being a couple, but we did not get a read out for Lincoln. Unless, I missed it?
Anyway, this was another good work from you! You are a very good writer and I look forward to seeing more from you, as I especially like the Angels and Assassins series.
I rarely give four stars to a book. Elias the Wicked earned 5 stars with ease. The story was funny, both male and female lead were supportive of each other and the sex was off the chain. I liked the paranormal twist to the story. I was actually able to relate to Kerah as a seer. It was interesting and well told. I wondered if Elias was something more than what the story provided. I kinda wanted him to be a grim. With everything, I am happy they both received their HEA. Elias starts out as a jerk but ends up being sweet and funny. I smiled in places from the things he did or said. I was glad that he chased Kerah. Kerah was hard on herself regarding her past, and she often compared Elias to her past. I became slightly annoyed with her doing that. Eventually, she realized her worth. Overall, the story was enjoyable and I wanted to read more. I hope Ms. Walker continues to write about the supernatural. Maybe vampires next. Become the Black Anne Rice or something. I would recommend this to my friends even if they don't like paranormal. The story was not so far fetched it wasn't relatable. Happy Reading!
So you know a book is good when you read all the way to the end of it and look for more pages, like the story is going to keep going after reading all the acknowledgments, authors notes and dear readers. All I can say is just WOW!!! Ms. Walker has done it again y’all this book will have you laughing, crying, frustrated, angry and in the midst of all that reflective and analyzing yourself and your own feelings. The characters pull you in and like old friends you haven’t seen in a while, you pick back up where you left off, and can’t help but love them all even when you want to slap the sh*t out of them (Ms. Lincoln smh). This book is a must read, but I must advise you to find a nice quiet uninterrupted day and time to do so because it will suck you in, and when you look up, the sun is coming up and you gotta be to work in 2 hours. It is that good. Bravo ma’am thank you for sharing your gift with us in this masterpiece.
Elias inspires fear in those he meets, all except Kerah who is able to see beneath his rough exterior. Kerah and Elias both have paranormal secrets they are keeping but that won’t stop them from getting into a relationship. Elias has been cold for so long and Kerah is the missing warmth he needs to feel alive. Demons from their past don’t want to let them go but their strong family is there to help them both as they battle to keep the past from stealing their future. This is a wonderful tale full of mystery, an adorable menagerie of pets and love story with many twists and turns as Kerah fights alongside Elias to overcome the demon determined to ruin their chance at a happily ever after.
I received an ARC of this book via Book Sprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Though I'm not really into paranormal books, I like K. Alex so I was willing to try. Nice book, interesting dynamics. The love/hate relationship jumped really fast and unrealistically to me between Kerah & Elias. That could have unfolded and been developed lot more to me. I wasnt the biggest fan of how Kerah came off kind of thirsty and prone to abusive behavior. She's strong, learned from her past but still going for a holes???? There seemed to be a lot going on with the families that got somewhat resolved, but could have been a little more clear since it was a longer book. There were some gaps in the story and things about the paranormal aspects that I was confused by.
An exceptional story well written and a pleasure to read
This story captured my imagination from the start, I liked Kerah and I liked how she dealt with Elias the Wicked . The story was not the usual format you expect from love stories about enemies become lovers the twist was the paranormal incidents, which was woven into the story so cleverly you had absorb all that was written. I really liked Elias and the other supporting characters. Elias was portrayed as one hot latino male, I'd love to see a picture of this man, I was drooling throughout the story. I won't spoil it for anyone reading this review as I think this book is a brilliant story that is a must read.
I read the reviews after reading about 25% of the book to get opinions on the story. It started off super slow for me. I skipped some pages. Read some of the reviews. Then came back to make my way through. I'm so glad I did. Although I think the book would have been better if some unnecessary commentary was left out, I really enjoyed the plot. I am so in love with Elias and Kerah. She thought she was weak, but soon learned she was one of the strongest and the love she had for Elias brought him through the storm.
This read turned into something profound and deliciously wicked
I admit that when I first picked up this book I thought it would be just a steamy read. While the steam factor is wonderfully high, the depth of this book and the subjects floored me. Having characters go through issues is the baseline of a story, any story. This book took the characters and did a deep dive on not only the issues but the perception of the issues from multiple fronts. This was like reading a 7 layer paranormal mystery and running out of chips to get to the bottom! You did your thing here, yes you did.
Oh and I love love love all the different types of fur babies in this! Brave Ms.Walker
This one is definitely a hut for me. I loved the inspiration from the Hausa folklore. Kerah was a great heroine. That scene when she meet 'Allyson' was hilarious. I liked her family's dynamics enev though I flet that this big Christmas thing was a bit too easily resolved. Elyas was a great hero too. They had smoking hot chemistry and I enjoyed reading about the way their relationship developed and strengthened. I rooted for them to have a HEA. I wished the end was a little bit less rushed. And a bit too neatly wrapped. Like Vasilis's letter at the end. Also, what about Lyra. Like he completely forgot she existed?!
Kerah, had no idea what she was talking about when she named Elias, " Elias the Wicked " behind his back. They said that love can move mountain, and in Elias and Kerah's case, their love for each had that power. They will literally go through hell and back, go through fire, because when the devil has its claws on you, it won't let go, not without a fight. And together, they will fight,...but will they come out victorious?! If you want to know, get your own copy... It's worth it.
Elias made a deal that was life or death. He was empty, had no feelings, just being.
Kerah has some demons to exorcise of her own. She lives with guilt and shame.
These two meet and it’s definitely not love at first site. He’s mean and rude and she’s annoyed and doesn’t tolerate his bs.
So much happens between them that cannot be explained or denied. She fights and questions it and he decides to lean in, all in. There are entities that are trying to get in the way.
How do you break a deal with the devil? Ask Mr. Wicked
Another great read from a author who becoming a favorite. I read this series backwards and I surprisingly love the supernatural aspect of this book. You have the H who is a former vet turned firefighter and the h who was a former veterinary student who meet through trauma. The H’s niece is volunteering at the animal rescue that the h works and sparks fly, but not in the good way! Great read that I would recommend but keep an open mind. I would love to read about the side character such as Kennedy, Lincoln and Elias’ stepsister Anastasia.
OH my what a delightful story! One that you can enjoy, its a story that has great characters with great chemistry. The story has some humor but mostly it has some interesting sometimes thrilling moments and of course the romance! There is a part that will bring a smile to your heart along with the usual elements, and their relationship is such a delight which is what makes it a incredible to read. Even the secondary characters are great. There is one thing I wish for and that is more to the ending. But overall this is a fantastic romance which l enjoyed.
Kerah and Elias literally felt in love at first sight..but on the inside..outside appearances were a different story..hate exuded from their pores..each pretending that the other was the bain of their existence..not realizing the demons around were pulling strings..making the hate manifests..but it's a thin line between love and hate..and good always triumph over evil..especially soul eaters..hate mongers..instruments of hell.. Love wins!
This is an interesting story with a unique story line. The author brings a cast of strong characters and weaves an intriguing story. She does a great job developing the story and paints her scenes perfectly. It's a well written paranormal ,moves fluidly and is a great read. I enjoyed and would recommend this book.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
I felt the book was a little longer than it needed to be however it was enjoyable. Who knew demons could make mistakes? Glad this one did or else we wouldn't of had the HEA we did. Also liked how we were given additional insight to the very real culture, if you will which was the focal point of the book. Would recommend to anyone into that type of thing.
***spoiler rant*** WHAT WAS WRONG WITH KENNEDY??? Is it just me that’s curious and wants to know exactly what she had. Like I’m sure everyone can guess she had some type of STD but how severe of a disease we talking here? And then for the momma to say that she can relate ***clutching my pearls hunny*** 😂 K. Alex Walker never disappoints, the banter and love between Elias and Kerah did it for me. Can’t wait to see what the next book in this series brings.
Another great read by author 👏 normally its the girl that walks out but this time it was the male he didn't even give her a chance to see if she would push him away he just left before she could glad that they were able to break the hold that was on him and he was able to take control over his life and be with the woman 👩 he loved
Ms. Walker has written another winner. I wasn’t able to put it down. All the characters took you on their individual journeys and they were written with such honesty and self-awareness that you won’t want the book to end. Can’t wait for the next in the series!
(😘👏💥🍹) words escapes me right now. The emojis all express how I felt at the completion of thus book. I was so caught up the the scene with Keith's family that the tears blurred the words. To say I ❤ this story is an understatement. I am a big fan and it appears I totally love your paranormal offerings. I look forward to more.
