Cassie Sanders has a lot to adjust to: a father who is in rehab across the country after his legs were blown off in Afghanistan and a new move with her mother to New Netherlands, Michigan from North Carolina. And being a stutterer doesn’t help as a new kid in school. Luckily, she finds a special friend who helps her navigate 5th grade. And when she decides to be a Red Kettle bell ringer, that decision makes life more difficult but also opens up a door that will change her life.
I have been a freelance writer of articles for years before I got my first break with my devotional, Changing Zip Codes.
My debut novel, Lake Surrender came from experiences I had in an autistic classroom as I learned to step into these children's world. I have a soft spot for single parents and parents of special needs children.
I also love camp and have had some significant life events happen at a camp. It seemed the perfect setting.
Although I've moved many times, my husband and I are currently in North Carolina, enjoying the mountains and learning to like livermush.
I LOVE The Littlest Bell Ringer! Ten-year-old Cassie has so much to deal with in her young life: her Injured military Dad who is in a hospital far away, a mom who works non-stop, a new school, and a neighborhood bully who is intent upon making her life even more miserable. Every day is a new challenge for the girl who tries hard to be brave. I love the dialogue, the story, and the surprise and very unexpected ending! I can't wait to share this book with my ten-year-old granddaughter!
This was a very poignant narrative. I liked the theme: Look for the golden moments in life, especially when life throws you nothing but harshness, cruelty, and unpleasantness your way. The author used the point of view of a ten year old girl and ran with it. This was a well told story. I enjoyed reading it.
This is a very well-written story with great descriptions and interesting characters. Cassie's dad is injured and in a hospital far away, her mom works non-stop, and since they moved, she is in a new school with a bully who loves to pick on her. Every day is a new challenge as she tries to be brave. The ending is surprising and heart-warming.
