This is one of those books/novellas that I received from the author and Bookfunnel.com (likely through Facebook) free of charge in return for an honest review.
This literary work falls under the genre of alternate history, where the author takes an event or series of events and then makes a slight change and writes a story about how things would have happened if event "A" was different. This story is about what would have happened if the Kaiser's Germany had introduced a superweapon that is essentially an armoured battle wagon on elevated legs (in my mind's eye, I picture this to be akin to the AT-AT Walker from The Empire Strikes Back....lol) and how the introduction of this weapons platform has taken the combined armed forces of the British and French by surprise.
This story provides an interesting concept looked at from the viewpoints of several main characters.
As I have started to read a wide variety of books on my tablet, I have started to read with a more critical eye as opposed to reading simply for the enjoyment.
As far reviews go, I enjoyed this story and look forward to reading his next book in the series and as such would rate this story a solid four stars out of five.
As with all of my reviews, this is just my five cents worth.
I love alternate history, plausible ones not time travelers and such but something that could have happened. With the right technology this would not be far fetched. Good action sequences with great human elements makes you wonder what will happen next.
I am a big fan of alternative military history and this book was exciting and well written. The author has come up with a very good story that is very interesting and exciting. I'm looking forward to the next book.
I liked it. Not much Alt History out there for the time period. The action and adventure was alright and the historical aspect was pretty good. It’s the start of a series so I will have to see it through.
I thoroughly enjoyed this alternative history account of WWI. Interesting characters and, “What if?” circumstances made an enjoyable read. I will definitely be reading the next in the series.
