Liar, murderer, traitor…these are all names Eamon has been called, and he wears them with pride. Depending on which side one falls, these titles are only too true. But it’s all part of his orchestrated manipulations. Up until the day he was banished from the fae land of Eria, he had schemed for millennia to protect his people, even resorting to murder. As punishment, the Erian king exiled him on Earth to live amongst the lowliest creatures of all—humans. Yet one frustrating and captivating woman shakes his ingrained beliefs to the core.
Newly minted physical therapist Caralyn Alberts has been drawing images of a handsome, otherworldly stranger for as long as she can remember. She’s chalked it up as a fluke occurrence of life. But when she finds the arrogant Eamon sprawled out on the ice at a local park, her life becomes just as slippery and dangerous as the hauntingly familiar elf. Enemies, friends, and unwilling partners inundate them from all sides.
When Eamon’s treacherous past makes a reappearance, they’ll have to trust each other in order to keep their hearts—and their very lives—intact.
I'm a mother and romance writer who grew up in small-town Indiana. I studied psychology in college and worked off and on in the mental health field over the years. I now reside in Southern California. When not spinning tales of romance and fantasy, I can often be found with my nose buried in a book. I also love going for walks with my youngest son and taking Zumba classes. One of my stories, Bound to the Elvin King, won Ind'Tale's 2015 RONE award for best Sci-Fi/Fantasy.
This was below my expectations. I liked the beginning but then the drunk rapist appeared in the cold park and the contrived events continued from there to knock me out of the story. I wanted to root for Eamon but he is so mean that I had no idea how the heroine liked him, much less got into bed with him.
The smutt is OK, the story in general is not that bad, but... Aistiane is a friking villain, and the fact that everyone seems to condone her actions is worrisome.
Aristiane also works as a Deus Ex Machina device to solve any problems the characters may have, which takes a lot of the tension from the story, and makes it kinda boring, because you know she's going to solve the mundane stuff. The "fish out of the water" element that should be there since Eamon and Andrian are on a place they know nothing about doesn't play a role in the story (partly because of Aistiane); they just adjust perfectly even when Caralyn worries about it non-stop. At least the romance made sense, and Eamon's redemption arc worked, though there are some unnecessary scenes here and there (for exmple, the whole thing with the ex-boyfriend).
What a brilliant story featuring wonderful characters blending the old with the new. I totally loved this book and would thoroughly recommend it hoping others enjoy it as much as I did. Redemption for all he has done is the reason that Eamon has been banished to Earth. Caralyn has always been able to read auras and is surprised when she meets Eamon by his unusual aura. Told by the manifestation of the mist that it is Eamon's, Andrian another Elf and her destinies to find the fated mates of the Elvinkind on Earth be they human women or the Holdouts (these are Elves that stayed behind) women. Following these characters as they interact is fascinating and especially the developing relationship between Caralyn and Eamon. But can he overcome his prejudices against humanity and can she forgive what he's done in the past.
Finding an exiled arrogant elf laid out in the park while walking her dog up-ends everything in her life...but Caralyn manages to cope...but can she keep it together when a second elf lands in her life along with others that aren't entirely human. Psycho family, insane housemates, missing family and arrogant elf's all put blocks to normality...how can love blossom. Soul mates, love, and lots of heat will keep you stuck in this adventure...and you will want more!! My first but not last!!
Eamon has been banished to leave amongst the humans and ends up being saved by one. Caralyne saves she man she has been drawing for years and that turns out to be the easy part. Really that is just how this books starts and even though I was curious as to why Eamon gets his own book, I was glad to get it and read it.
Ms. Kumar has made a great story but be warns that it does move along fast as the other two but it is a full story with a great plot and characters. The book does have some triggers for victims of abuse/sexual abuse.
"There's no hope for the ignorant and those who don't want to see the truth."
Let me start with why this book wasn't for me:
1. If I am irritated / annoyed at someone (as Caralyn has every right to be and even says she is) literally there is not a single thing they can do that I would find charming enough not to be pissed off that a stranger barged his way into my life and home 2. How is the fact that she draws him and that she has synesthesia only mentioned like, once? The synesthesia ALONE should be such a huge plot point for me. 3. Are we just going to gloss over how Eamon gets over her panic attacks about being touched and lets her touch him?
And reasons that you might enjoy this book:
1. Loved seeing things brought into the human world and more progression with the veil breaking down 2. Always love a bad boy MMC finding love 3. There's a really good cast of background characters here. Honestly better than the other two books.
I get so caught up in this series that I end up reading for hours. This is a great read. I have truly been enjoying this series. I didn’t think I would get into Elfin books, but these are great.
Well made characters, good world building, some action, magic and romance. Liked that is was lengthy and gave some answers from the prior books. I hope there is a 4th book because to me the story still needs closure on the veil.
This story had me squirming in places and pitying in others. Redemption sought for past wrongs with the help of a compassionate soul. An absorbing story
For sure an emotional rollercoaster. Your emotions are pulled every which way from distaste of Eamon to absolutely falling in love with him! Great storyline!
I liked this book and all the characters. The story was interesting and kept me interested in what was happening in the book. There was humor, drama, tears and fears. I would definitely want to read any sequels.
I love a grumpy male character. I love morally gray. But he was just a total dick. At least morally gray can show some compassion for the woman he loves. The entire time I just wondered if he was truly in love or didnt give a shit. He was so mean and she was delusional. The idea of the story overpowered the detail. It just never explained or came to light well enough for me. It was way too complicated for a smutty novel.
Have been waiting impatiently for this newest book in the 'Mists of Eria' series, and was not disappointed. Ms. Kumar has given us an elf with attitude - spelled with a capital 'A.' And a heroine with a backbone to match. We first meet Eamon - the snotty elf from her previous two books - wandering around a park, in the dead of winter, letting all and sundry know just what he thinks of his fate and the wretched humans he has to share it with. A few weeks later - while walking her dog - along comes Caralyn, who finds him, cold and wretched, sprawled on the ground. Instead of learning a bit of humility during his weeks in the human world, his attitude has only gotten worse - something he is quick to share with Caralyn. Through a series of events, she finds herself his unwanted hostess. But does he appreciate her good nature? Hardly. He tells her in no uncertain terms, that she is there to serve him. Thankfully, this girl has a spine, and lets him know just where he can stuff himself. The sparks between these two could set a forest on fire. While I like all the books in this series, I can definitely see a real growth in Ms. Kumar as a writer with this latest offering. The dialog is snappy, the plot moves along at a nice pace, and early on you already know that these characters will change and grow. This is a great addition to an already likable series, and a book I can see myself re-reading again and again.
Absolutely wonderful book. I loved the new characters in the book and was so excited to finish it so I could find out what happens to Adrian and all the rest of the grey kindred. Annnnd then I found out there isn’t any more about these characters. It kinda ruined the rest of the book for me because it leaves you wondering about the rest.

This took me a month to finish. 😭😭😭 I dont know what to think. It wasnt. Bad but it was far from good. So many things annoyed me. It reads like a fanfic, theres no jump in time, the bond was presented at the end even though it’s the title. Idk like 2.4 stars?

Preferred this most out of the 3 books. Kept me hooked though I wouldn't mind knowing more about Caralyn's background to the drawings and visions but otherwise the story is great!
