Depressing. ML is a POS, and there was no real groveling to make up for his actions. The serious issue of grape was glossed over like it wasn't a big deal, and memory loss was just used as an excuse for his scumbag behavior. Even the consensual scenes were hard to read, MC was always in pain. The ML clearly doesn’t know or refuses to do any prep work. There was nothing remotely sexy about any of it.
ML acted like a spoiled child 99% of the time, and the MC just put up with it for no good reason. The ending was so rushed it left me completely confused. I hate giving out 1-star ratings, but I’m just upset I wasted my time on this.
I liked it, maybe more of a 3.5. This book kind of had an underlying melancholy to the writing that made it really nice to read. It was nice to read a story with angst that didn't have one of the main characters be an asshole, it was more like fate or missed timing that caused the heartbreak.
Summary: Gu Tang had to drop out of high school to raise his younger sister when his mother was driven to suicide by their asshole father and he was used to selling his body to survive. He got the opportunity to go into acting and a chance encounter had him signing a five year contract with a fellow actor, Xi Zonghe, who got into a car accident that damaged his legs. Xi Zonghe's boyfriend dumped him and he wanted revenge so Gu Tang helped him with two years of rehab until he could walk again and Xi Zonghe used the next three years to get revenge on his ex. The story starts two months before the contract is going to end and Xi Zonghe is in another car accident. He gets amnesia and has completely forgotten the past five years and thinks he's still with his ex.
The five stars are all for Gu Tang, I really liked him as for Xi Zonghe I wanted to punch him in the face for almost the whole book. Toxic relationship.
