For Leslyn Harvey and Ogun Olumide, all they needed was someone to answer when called. At first, the trips, gifts, and sex were enough to keep them pleased.
But what happens when the need becomes emotional?
Leslyn and Ogun must put their fears aside and do the one thing they swore to never do, fall in love.
We met Ogun and Leslyn in the first book of the series and since then they've been hanging out. They also fell in love along the way, but were too scared to admit it, and now neither is sure where they stand.
I think I liked this one even more than the first, especially the first half, these two gave me fuzzy feelings.
I'm hoping that the other two friends from the group get their books too.
All his life he had to fight to prove his love to Leslyn and she did not make that shyt easy at all. Ogun and Leslyn had some major trust and commitment issues that stemmed from their childhood. What started out as a vacay fling turned into a situationship then, they both caught feelings but, was too afraid to tell the other how they felt. Because neither of them have ever been in a real relationship, Ogun and Leslyn didn't know how to communicate properly which led to some of their issues. But, once Ogun started to repair his relationship with his parents and Leslyn had a woman to woman conversation with her mama, she and Ogun were able to openly admit their feelings to one another and move forward with a healthy relationship. Take You Down was a journey about old hurts and insecurities but, turned into two people ready to accept love from one another.
Ogun met Leslyn at the club the same night as his brother Amani and her friend Kassandra met and the started kicking it and visiting each other for months. They both fell in love but were afraid to tell each other because neither one had ever been in a serious relationship before. Leslyn was afraid because of what she saw when her parents going through a rough patch and Ogun didn't know how to express his feelings because of the toxic relationship that his parents had before and after splitting up. Then they had to deal with Lyric's foolishness which I was glad when Ogun shut her all the way down. I'm loving that Ogun and Leslyn and Amani and Kassandra are in serious relationships and are deeply in love. I think a book Destinee and Aubrey will be next to drop with him most likely cheating on her when she uprooted her life to move with him. I also think we're going to get a book about Bryana falling in love too.
Ogun and Leslyn proved that love needs open and honest communication in order to work. Without it lines get crossed and assumptions get made. Ogun was a star and as with stars his life wasn't always what it seemed. For Leslyn it's hard to trust when your mind feels one way but your heart feels another. Luckily, Ogun put action to words and proved he was worth her efforts. D Rose always comes with the feel good books.
So this is kind of an unrelated sequal to Love Me Up. We follow Ogun and Leslyn now.
This was just as sweet as Kass and Mani's story. Both parties had a lot to come to terms with and that was an enjoyable journey.
Leslyn is referred to as 3 different names which kind of threw me off. There is no background that explains these names so I got confused for a bit until I realized what was happening.
She loved him but let hurts from the past hold her back. He loved her but due to his career took to long telling her. Leslynn and Ogun had something special but almost let her past and his career ruin it. A journey of two people growing and ready for each other's love.
This book is what it looks like when two people love each other but let their past hurts and experiences and even some of their present hold them back from fully expressing and verbalizing their feelings for each other. I love how Ogun and Leslyn came together and how the rode for each other even when fighting telling the other how they really felt. Ogun pulled up on Les and I loved it!
What an emotional story! Ogun and Leslyn, both had trust issues that caused them to fear commitment. The care, comfort and support of each other was there and strong. But when pushed further, one would retreat. Glad Ogun got some clarity of Leslyn's fear; to help her push past it. Sweet love they shared. 👍👍
I enjoyed Leslyn and Ogun's story! Theirs was definitely a journey. A journey past old hurts and insecurities into a mature, stable love. I'm glad he they didn't let outside influences affect their growing relationship. I always enjoy D. Rose's books and this is another great addition to my library!❤️
Ogun and Leslyn agreed to a “Friends with Benefits” situation, but that failed terribly because they both caught feelings. Past hurts and trust issues lead to Leslyn shutting down and the couple experiencing communication issues. You ever had a character that made you cringe because of your intense connection to them? Please tell me it’s not just me. I know all too well how trust issues and crippling fear can deter you from making the best decisions for yourself. Also, how decisions of our parents somehow come back to haunt us. This story right here had me in my feelings. I felt like I was under a microscope being observed. Ogun was the more levelheaded of the two. He accepted his changed feelings he fought to bring Leslyn on board. Unfortunately, she played the avoiding game. Truth be told, she stressed me out. Her refusal to communicate with Ogun and her parents irritated me to no end. Can we say stubborn? I feel things could’ve been so much better for her if she had that conversation with a mother a long time ago. She’s carrying so much baggage. I love that Ogun was able to set the record straight with actions and not words. It made their journey more enjoyable and sweeter. I look forward to the spin off story of the best friends and I recommend this book.
this book was a fight for me to get through. it was boring. i wasn’t rly invested in the characters or the story and there was just nothing of substance for me to sink my teeth into
one thing i did like was ogun’s term of endearment for leslyn, “ifemi”, which means “my beloved” or “my love” in yoruba
It was good to read Ogun and Leslyn story. They both had commitment issues. I am glad they both admitted their feelings to each other. Would love an update on how both couples are doing.
This book was so adorable. I loved the fact that even though they weren’t official he didn’t become intimate with Lyric out of respect and love for her. That was so sweet. This story was short and beautiful.
