Orenda Academy has changed. Familiars are going missing, and a mysterious plague has taken over the school. Someone in the castle is behind it, but the culprit is out of reach.
I don’t even know who I am anymore. To find out, I’ve started searching for the family I never knew. Finding myself is the only way to continue this journey.
Lives have already been lost. If we don’t find the next piece of the prophecy soon, it’ll be impossible to save the tribe.
Liam
Last semester, I was betrayed by everyone I love. Months have gone by, and I still don’t know who to trust.
Sophia and I are both broken. There’s no fixing the damage that was done. Friends have become enemies, and enemies have become major threats. Now our relationship is being put to the ultimate test.
If the Elders find us guilty, we’ll fail to stop what’s coming. Answers to the prophecy are just out of reach, and we’re running out of time to change the future...

Two-time Reader's Favorite Five Star Read (Bronze Medal Finalist)
I'm so done with this series. First up I'll say I have a rule of pretty much giving a book a straight up 1 star for a pet like creature dying (if completely unnecessary like this). Just don't want to read it and I won't. Secondly, who the fuck is this book aimed at? The confessing and trial of the professors made me cry. I bawled my eyes out. Its 11:30 maybe I'm a little emotional from being tired but I was reading this in hopes it would distract me enough to sleep. Nope. Won't be happening. Thirdly, 40% of this book is Sophia and whatshis face hold on I'll go look his name up because I have genuinely forgotten it its Liam. Anyway, 40% is these two mooning over each other. A bizarre 10% is Sophia being BI curious (nothing wrong just came out of no where for me) and the rest is just chaotic. I get a lot of authors write the ending before they begin. They have ending A worked out and they must create the path to get there but I didn't enjoy this ride. In no way did this book add to the series. In no way did it go into the familiar disease or the missing ones, made no bloody sense what so ever. I actually feel more depressed than when I read this. Blergh going to try and forget this one.
There should never be any use of the word “I’s” yet this book has loads of them. “Sophia and I’s,” “Liam and I’s,” it makes me want to gouge my eyes out. And the incorrect use of I instead of me or mine is rampant as well. The one time in the entire book it was actually written as “Sophia and me,” it should have been a frigging “I.” There were other editing issues as well, like tough instead of through, nibbles instead of nipples, things like that.
The story is interesting, it’s the third in the series that I’ve read. It seems a bit more strained than the first two, they flowed better. There’s also a totally uncalled for and unimportant to the storyline girl-on-girl scene with the main character that could easily be left out. It really seemed like gratuitous girl action for the sake of “oh she’s in college, let’s have her experiment,” non-necessary filler. The character is clearly hung up on her man and has to convince herself to stop thinking about him the whole scene. It just didn’t go over well and didn’t do anything for the character. She didn’t even learn anything from it.
The main storyline is what’s kept me coming back, because I’m interested in how it’s going to turn out. The four main characters are interesting and Imogen is my favorite. I love her quirky, gonna be herself attitude. She’s probably the most well developed of the four. I enjoy the way the magic is used, sometimes that can be a make or break in the believability, and this is done well. I’m willing to struggle through the horrible editing to see how it ends.
WHAT ok so like good things first. the story is soo fun. like elements universe teenage drama the threat of war. a little bibble like thing that does insane shit. what is there not to love?
well I can tell you that when a story is good, you kinda need to write it well too you know. I mean i am not a writer, only an enjoyer of life. but God it is like these two authors wrote every other sentence and did not talk bout what they wanted with the story.
anyways now to the spoilers
WHAT THE FUCK??? THEY MADE MAGICAL HITLER??? NORA EHAT DO YOU MEAN MAGIC NAZIES???
the ending had me ngl. I was ready to give this like 2,5 stars maybe, since the story was kind of lost in all the emotions. "I love you liam" and him being so weird. like suuch a "nice guy"
also I am disappointed we didn't get any of Imogens POV it was that part of the prophesy the whole book was about, yet she was never there? and once she figured out how to cure the plague she died a little bit? and didn't get her time in the spotlight?? buuuuu
I don't really like the whole thing with her being bi. it kind of just felt like it didn't do anything with her character. only that when she had sex with a pretty girl she thought of a ew man 😐. also him being biphobic? idk man kinda weird.
she deserve more than him ngl but you do you girl idk
also who is this aimed for?? it feels very YK but then it becomes very much not YK, the characters are stupid and act like they are in highschool when this is supposed to be collage. like there is drama in collage, but not so silly drama? some of it just doesn't sit right with me.
Omg the end had me shaking! I really like this series!!🥰 It feels like a YA combination between Harry Potter and Hunger Games. I am totally hooked!! The plot is exciting (tho a little predictable), and I LOVE the characters (except Liam- I still think he is a red flag. She forgave him wayyy to quick). I love the thematics - disabilities, LGBTQ, segregation, political suppression etc. I think these topics are very well written. (I am wayyy too gay for the smut scenes tho- probably the reason I gave this a 4 and not a 5😂) (I feel the same way about this series as about ACOTAR - they are kinda bad but I love them because they are entertaining)
This book... where does one start... not worth reading.
I couldn't finish this book even though I was at 92% completed. The author put so much into this book that I couldn't figure out WHERE she was going with it. The over arching plot that this series has been working on (the prophecy) has almost no mention in this book, and it seems the author stopped caring about it.
We are introduced to a continued plot involving the ridiculous segregation of "House-only relationships" that is taken to an extreme in this book. This plot finally comes to an end, with an outcome that you are led to believe will either bring the entire tribe together or completely tear it apart. However, she throws a plot twist in that seems to satisfy the moment but doesn't actually solve the overlying crisis and yet the threat still looms. Extremely unsatisfying.
Meanwhile you have three other minor plots that are happening that don't really make sense to the overlying book series (unless it was suddenly revealed and explained in the last 8% of the book).
I was just deeply unhappy and unsatisfied with where the author took this series because she proved in the first two books to have a lot of promise with this series in its original take on the idea of magic and how it works in this world. Sadly I will not be reading any other books in this series due to the horrendous nature of this one and how it left me feeling.
Good luck readers, I hope you enjoy it much more than I did.
Absolutely amazing story! Can't wait for the next book to see what happens next for Sophia, Liam, Imogen and Jonah. These ladies make a great team writing this series.
I felt like if I didn't kiss her then, I would die, and there woild be nothing left of me. Putting my lips om hers was like the first breath of life. I'd felt numb for so long, and now she was bringing me back from the dead. I realized for the first time how painful living without Sophia had been, and how much I loved her. She was crucial to my story. She was everything.'
I am crying... this book let me feel agonising heartbreak, all the feels. The suspence the romance the tears the screaming the emotions the mystery the shocking moments, more and more....
WHEN I FINISHED IT: I AM SCREAMING MY LONGS OUT!! WHAT THE HELL WAS THIS OMG THE TERROR!!! THIS BOOK HAD ME CRUSHED!!! I LOVE IT SOOO MUCH!! UNBELIEVABLE!!SOOO UNFAIR!!! THIS FURY OMG!!
The story starts with Liam's flashbacj about the bonding with Nashoma. Again, this scene with sooo beautiful and emotional!!!! All the more horrible he is dead!!!! Sophia and Liam have broken up AND IT HAS ME CRUSHED!!! I NEED THEM BACK TOGETHER!!!! Both are heartbroken and in complete AGONY!! which hurt me more!!!! A huge part of the story is about the breaking up stuff. Sophia: Imogen has helped her though this hell. She is an amazing friend, she wants to see her happy again and supports her in ever choice!!!! She even rebels by going to a club and wearing 'different' clothes. At the club: she is drunk and tries to make Liam jealous by kissing an other guy named Landon. He is an complete asshole!! Liam jumps him and they are thrown out of the club. Sophia makes a huge scene and screams about it being her life and she can do what she wants. To prove it she gets a tattoo (daisy for Imogen!!!) Imogen and Johan are torn. Imogen takes Sophia's side and Jonah Liam's 'you guys are like parents and we are the kids in the middle' despite everything theh remain close friends and try there best to be there for liam and Sophia! Jonah got it bad in this book!! He is in a emotional abusive relationship with Renar WHO IS SOOO AWFUL OMG!!! he treats him like trash and Squaks is hearbroken. Liam tries to help but he listens to now one 'this is my life' His parents are just as awful!! They abuse him too and Jonah even gives them his tournament money!!!! Liam: after they first meet back at Orenda Academy it is completely awkward!!! They can't look or talk without being hurt. Esis has been healing Liam through the summer break!!! Which makes he feeling a bit better. School goes on and they have new classes. Sophia makes new friends like Miranda and Lindsey. They stood up for themselves against Haley and are no longer her puppets!!! They celebrated with a sleepover! Vanessa is pregnant and they have a typical girlsnight. Until they bring up Liam. Sophia says she is done witb him (lie) and miranda dares her to kiss Lindsey for experimenting purpose. Sophia discovers she is Bi and Lindsey 'helped' with her discovery. They almost become a couple!!! Lindsey is really sweet and makes Sophia forget about liam and Mia. She thinks he is together with her but in truth: mia is abushed by her fiancé Micha and has asked Liam to help her for she has nowhere to go. She doesn't want to end the relationship but Liam will keep an eye on her and he tries to help and convince her to no avail.... Sophia also has a new class Child care. She wants takes care of baby's and baby familiars!!! Sooo adorable but at the same time terrible for she can't have children with Liam!!! Among all the drama there is a FREAKING PLAGUE!!! Familiars are getting sick and kidnapped!!!- the Plague is killing them and therefor the elementai die too!!!! Esis can't heal them. One time Sophia lost esis AND I LOST IT!!!! but liam found him in the highest south tower which was closed off. Esis wanted liam to act like the hero. The chamber was the anichi dormrooms!!!! The team made it their secret hideout!!! They plot their scemes for the prophecy: Imogen my little genius figured the Earch piece out!!!!: apparently baine told them a legend in one class about a tree. Imogen remembered the story from a childbook. She searched for it and discovered that it wasn't about the tree at all but about the last message the woman who turned into a try gave!!!: Nivita has the most power and must choose their side' so that means: if Nivita chooses a side Yapluma will follow and then it will be 3 against one- THEY HAVE TO GET NIVITA ON THEIR SIDE!!! Imogen YOU ARE A GENIUS!! Liam and Sophia are both unsure what they want. Because of all the lies and hurt they don't know if they want to be together again or even how anymore.... they tried to be friends but they can't if they can't be WITH each other Sophia looks for her grandparents. They are soo wise and kindhearted I love them!!! They learn her soo many valuable lessons. They give her her mothers scrapbook. In it is madame doya and she was best friends woth Sophia's biological mother!!! One time she showed them her totem and they sad to transfer her powers intention back into the totem!! Sophia is a Spirit warrior!! A other important event is her naming ceremony: her grandparents and friends guided her through, but because she was soo angry over Liam it didn't work. Until Sophia let go af her anger and Liam she is taken into the Ancestors 'land' she offers Liam's jacket to her anchesters and therefor of liam. Her name is ' Blazing Firespirit' Who perfect!! Meanwhile Sophia is getting more sure of herself, Liam is losing himself... he saw Lindey and Sophia kiss, Igomen blames him for Sophia's hurt and Jonah doesn't health listen to him about Renar. His at it's worse and his heart is broken beyond repair. During a 'leader lesson' liam is teamed up with awful people. The mission was to get the flag that was guarded by a familiar. They act like ever man for themselves, only liam is willing to sacrifice bis extra credits by distracting the beast so his team can calture the flag!! His selflessness earns his the praise and credits for he acted like a true leader!!! I was so proud!! His mind changed and he wanted to fight for his status (maybe he could lead) but his team and athor students gossip abiut his health being soo worse he is a burden for the tribe and soo weak they must have killed him long ago. Something inside him snaps... he completely loses it...with everything pilling up and all the hearbreak and agony it'sjust too much, he goes numb and believes himself that weakling and that everyone is better off without him. This scene was so hard to read and hit me so heart in my gut... it came to close to home... Sophia saved him before he jumped from the bridge. She brings him to Jonah and everyone is just shocked and out of it.... I am lose for words. He is recovering at home but is worsenfor wear. His sister Maggie talks with him and tells him she knows this feeling for she went through the same thing for she was lonely and unhappy because she is a seer and doesn'thave any friends. Liam helped her then and she will help him now!!! Eventually he asks his mother to go to the burial and beggs Nashoma for help He wakes up in the land of the Ancestors and Nashoma TALKS to him. This was such a difficult scene to read too Nashoma is bitter and disappointed and disgusted by Liam's actions or leak therefor he teaches him a hard lesson. 'Are you a prey or a wolf' 'an Alpha fights for his mate and pack' He attacks and fights with Liam to get him to fight back, for her, for his futute and for his own life!!! 'THAT'S WHAT I LIEK, FIGHT FOR YOUR MATE AND YOUR LIFE'!!! Nashoma tells him to move on with his life if sophia doesn't take him back he tells liam he has a bigger purpose than everyone knows and must forfill it!!! Liam finds his inner strength and is going to fight!!!! But he also decides that if Sophia won't take him back he is going to let her go forever Liam and Sophia have THE talk: he brings her jmin his room and they discuss their situation. Liam immediately blurted out: I want you back' and Sophia isnt sure.... they both talk about being changed from who they were when they fist met but have also grown. Sophia says she can't be with him if he hurts her and he needs to want her back not because he can't live without her, he says that he needs and wants her back because she makes his life better!! She asks what he will do if she says no: he will leave Orenda and start over somewhere else. He will go help people and find his purpose. he will die without Esis 's help but he wants to die on his terms and make to most of his the months he has left... i was speechless Sophia is heartbroken and wants to get back together if they won't lie to each other and he will never break up again he prond this giving her his ancestors name fighting wolf spirit Goes into thearapy to work on his depression. He asks if it's over... 'It was never over Liam' They share the most passionate kiss ever and my heart was so full it exploded!!! They have their first time!!!! And it was beautiful!!!! After they return to their friends and they are all happier than ever!! Especially Liam who is literally glowing!!! I was sooo happy!!!! They have agreed to make their love PUBLIC!!!! during a confrontation with Haley, Sophia confesses she is indeed in love with Liam!! LIAM KISSES HER FOR THE WHOLE CAFETERIA TO SEE!!!! One event: jonah is so blind by love that Squaks his familiar is in despair. She is getting sick and it because clear SHE HAS THE PLAGUE!!!! Wen Jonah knew went back to her!! A HEARTBREAKING SCENE AND ALMOST GOODBYE!!!! he talks about his bonding: one night Jonah was again beaten by his parents and he ran away. A bird was thrown out of the nest of she was the weakest!!! Jonah saved the bird and they bonded. Instead of music, everything was peacefully quite. She didn't have a name for the mother never have her one. She kept squeaking so jonah called her Squaks!!! It was sooo emotional, Squaks is ;just like Jonah!!!!! I cried!!! One event:IMOGEN IS IN THE HOSPITAL AND DANGEROUSLY INJURED!!!!! :she has gone to the library and found the solution to the Plague!!!! Something has attacked her and Sassy to prevent she shared the answer!!! Cade who is her love, her family, Friends, all are completely DEVASTATED BECAUSE SHE POSSIBLY WONT MAKE IT!!!! OMG IF IMOGEN DOESN'T MAKE IT I AM DONE Liam and Shopia go investigating. Liam finds feathers and blood and they know the familiar: RENAR'S!!!! OMFG!!! They confront him and he tells that its her own fault to search for the prophecy!!! (Jonah had tolled him about the prophecy when they were drunk) Jonah COMPLETLEY LOSES IT!! HE ATTACKS AND BREAKS HIS LEG!!! But he deserved much worse!!!! Liam and Sophia has figured out the cure!!!: the plague was made by witches and elementai sought them out. The plague poisons the magic inside of the familiars!!! To cure it, the elementai must push their power out of their familiars and so take the Plague out of their bodies!!! Jonah tries it and SQUAKS IS CURED!!!! After the went back to Imogen, she AT LAST WAKES UP!!!!! SOO EMOTIONAL!!!! Because Sophia and Liam are public now, they will be killed!!!! But it isn't until midnight Liam's father takes them away to his home!! HE IS GOING TO PROTECT THEM!!!! THEY HAVE TO STAND TRIAL!!! his dad and Doya made sure to give them at least that.... Sophia and Liam broadcast themselves and tells everyone about the cure!!!! But are later ARRESTED!!!! By Elder Oleander!! He states they caused unnecessary panic!! Doya and Liam's dad bailed them out!!! Back at home: ROMANTIC SCENE!!!: liam takes Sophia to the top of a mountain, its decorated beautifully. Floating boxes thag contain messages: reasons I love you!!!! MY HEART SWOONED!!!!! SOOO MAGICAL AND ROMANTIC!!! he gave her a blanket which he made in basketclass. By tradition the man gives the woman he wishes to marry a blanket!!!!! Omg.... soo beautiful.... The Elemental cup: Ezra, vanessa, Cade and Renar are the green team and their tournament is even WORSE than liam and shopia's!!! Earth: collapsing the cave, air: Suffocating, fire: firewall and aater: waterwall and sooo much water!!! They were almost at the fishing until renar kicked Cade and he fell in the river!!!! Ezra had to make the choice to save him or continue and surving and save vanessa who is PREGANT!! he didn't choose Cade.... cade has drowned!!! Imogen breaks.... she lost it.... she lost the love of her life!!! I CRIED!!! She completely changed... no more colourful outfist, no laughs, no Imogen... she became bitter and wants revenge!!! Ezra is heartbroken too, he changed too and is a shell of what he was... no longer the happy kid... But then the day of the trial has arrived: If they lose the case THEY WILL BE KILLED BY THEIR OPPOSITE ELEMENT: DROWNING AND BURNING ALIVE!!! this was SOO EMOTIONAL AND EXHAUSTING IT WAS DRAINING ME!! The rebellion with leader Jacye support their case and demand interhouse to become legal!! Sophia and liam are the example and they need to make a stand!!! In short: liam and Shopia has found a retiret lawyer, Mister Milles( for the Elders) uses EVERYHTING AGAINT THEM. : Liam's relationship, status, leadership, temper, past, nashoma, instability and even his mental depression and his illness!!!! Against shopia: her leak of tradition, her totem, friends, her outburst in the club, her wanting children, her telling lies, even that basterd of the club saying they havigg SEX!!! Milles trew literally everythjng at them!!! And also at her friends!!! :Lindsey: having a relationship with sophia and her being used, she screams her equality!!! After being shot he escaped!!! At last prof Perot arrives. He says: Liam can't have children!!!! Omg I did not see that coming.... this changes everything!!!! They can't have children so their will be no danger to the tripe, the council don't have a choice but to plead NOT guilty!!!!! After: they celebrate the New year with a traditional 'powwow' all are happy and merry, Liam performs a dance snd is glowing!!! Until.... 2 women are being attacked!!! From unicornology miss Fawn: she is Nivita so she will be killed by air and the other woman is Toaqua and will be killed by fire!!! their familiars were first!!!

It was a roller-coaster ride. I was v happy about what happened and v upset crying at other things that happened. Hit too close to home, it was definitely the most heart wrenching read out of all the books. TW: suicide attempts, self harm, depression, chronic illness.
Im reading Book 3 now...i wish it would have stayed Pg-17 ..it would have been a great Young Adult Series but by 3rd book sex is a little to Vivid to be YA. Anywho.. The Series is good ..reads easily..has a little bit of Hunger Games in one book but it holds its on in being different ..good ..like Harry Potter meets Hunger Games But on College Age Group (yet they act like Highs School kids most of the books)and its Paranormals. Its a good solid series. Mrs.C.💋
I really enjoyed the first two books in this series and was excited to continue with book 3, but to me it felt like the series took a whole different direction in this book. The vibe of the book felt very different than the first 2. There's less focus on the plot surrounding the prophecy and much more drama and emotional stuff. And it just didn't work for me, I love the magical creatures, the magic and the plot and the colorful characters, but in this book those all take a backseat. Then it gets depressing and even more drama and I just couldn't handle it anymore. Too much heartbreak and hurt and drama. I liked the more lighthearted tone of the first two books and the way the romance felt there. I just wasn't enjoying this one. I read some spoilers for future books and decided to stop the series here.
Harry Potter, Hunger Games, and Divergent in an adult setting with adult themes. The twist at the end was unexpected, but it was shadowed by how bothered I am a bunch of white people exist in an indigenous setting. The explanation was offered in an earlier book, but having a girl described with strawberry-blonde hair cursing the colonizers was a bit much.
Also, the genocidal tones and using words like “Master Race” was super cringe.
The constant use of dialogue tags, “kindly” or other repeated adverbs, and other weird grammar things distracted me, too.
I’m determined to finish the series, so here’s hoping it doesn’t give me more reason to dislike it.
Oh! I’m still curious about what Amelia meant in book one when she was facing Naomi. -What- ends there? Do they ever answer that?!
Still a few editing errors but if you've made it this far, you're interested in this story like me I'm sure and don't need a review to continue. But wow it's a whole lot of drama and different. I have never read anything quite like this one and it's great and refreshing and I can't recommend this series enough
Liam goes into depression and almost comits suicide. Sophia saves him and makes him get counciling. They comit to each other and come 'out of the closet'. They receive a trial date from the Elders. There are fanatical groups that rise up against the Elders and they start a war. The Elders take over a start a system, not a good one.
Loved this book! This is the 3rd book in the series and I can’t put it down. Sophia and Liam definitely grew up in this book as well as Jonah and Im. You get a ton of drama and some more action. As previous mentioned this book series would best fit a high schooler or a mature junior high schooler. As well as being a great series for an independent reading project.
Still enjoying the series. Although I have to wonder why Sophia has yet to mention adoption as an option both privately with Liam as they discussed not being allowed to have kids as well as when she was in court and they tried to prove she intended to have kids because it’s her dream to be a mom… more wild is that she’s literally adopted… her parents both died and regardless of anything she would not have been raised by her birth parents. She of all people should be thinking about adopting. If she really wanted to she could get cowigney sperm and get pregnant that way.. I bet there’s a magical artificial insemination process that could occur anyways.
I would think that all the blatant fascism would be obvious to people like that they spilt the groups into the elite that don’t question the elders and the lessers who do question elders like that’s such an obviously fucked up segregation… but then this sort of thing is rampant in America right now… like the president coercing a journalist that speaks out against him to lose his job by threatening the network and using his sway? Like I guess on the outside it’s easy to see fascism but on the inside the lifetimes of indoctrination makes it appear normal and fine.
Anyways I’m curious to see how the story continues and at what point they will realize they can adopt a baby… I’m going to be very angry if Vanessa and Bren die and leave their baby to Liam and Sophia- surely they can adopt a child without tragedy involved… and there better not be some immaculate conception situation, I’m already getting some puritanical vibes that feel out of place in the context of the story. I hope that Sophia remains Bi and it isn’t ’a wild phase’. She can still be with Liam but let’s not have a revisionist history where she is called straight throughout now that she’s not with Lindsey.

The Earth Legend raises the stakes while keeping all the elements I’ve come to love in this series. The magic school setting still plays a key role, and I continue to be drawn in by that atmosphere of learning, challenges, and the evolving magical world. It’s a theme I never get tired of—there’s something endlessly exciting about discovering new powers, facing magical threats, and growing through it all within a school environment.
This installment brings even more depth to the worldbuilding, especially with the elemental magic. The magical creatures and unique abilities stay fresh and fascinating, and I really liked seeing how the characters’ powers continue to evolve in surprising ways. The dual POV remains one of the series’ strongest aspects, letting us stay emotionally connected while seeing things from different angles. The male main character’s disability continues to be handled with care and strength—it’s never sidelined, and his role in the story keeps growing in importance and impact.
There’s a noticeable shift toward darker, more emotional moments in this book, but it’s balanced with hope and strong character dynamics. The relationships—both romantic and platonic—are growing deeper, and the tension is building toward something big. The Earth Legend is a turning point in the series, and it delivers with more magic, more heart, and a real sense of momentum heading into the final book.
Dark times have passed over Orenda Academy as some of the students and their familiars are becoming very sick while other students and their familiars are disappearing. Why are the students becoming ill? Why are they disappearing? Is someone behind it all? Who would want to make them ill? Who is behind the disappearances?
Things are starting to get worse at the Academy and if Sophia, Liam, Imogen, Jonah and the rest of the crew are racing against the clock to find the answers the next piece of the prophecy before it is too late to save everyone.
Liam and Sophia soon find their selves in over their heads when the council comes after them. They must find a way to prove them innocent or it could cost them more than they are willing to pay. The predicament they find their selves in could ensure a riot among the students.
The Earth Legend may be a long book but it grabs your attention from the get go and you soon find the pages zooming on by and before you realize it you are turning the last page. The Earth Legend is a very intense read that will keep you turning the pages barley able to wait for what is coming next.
The characters just seem to grow with each turn of the page. Their powers as well as their compassion for others just keep growing. The Earth Legend is filled with so many emotions, one minute it will have you laughing and the next minute you will be bawling your eyes out or have you so mad you would like to punch someone in the face. I can’t wait to see where everyone takes us on their next journey with book four of the Academy of Magical Creatures, The Air Omen.
I highly recommend The Earth Legend to all fans of magic and magical worlds with an academy setting.
The Earth Legend (Hidden Legends: Academy of Magical Creatures Book 3) ~~ This book hit me hard emotionally. The consequences from the last book tear everything open, and the characters are forced to rebuild from nothing. I loved the scenes centered around earth magic — they were powerful, raw, and symbolic of the healing these characters desperately needed. The battles were brutal, and the losses were heartbreaking.
There’s a moment in this book where someone steps up in a way no one expected, and I swear I had tears in my eyes. It was the perfect blend of courage and sacrifice. By the end, I was gripping my phone waiting to see what would happen next.
The Audible narration carried every emotion — the fear, the strength, the grief — and switching between reading and listening felt completely natural.
I would definitely recommend this book and series and can’t wait to start on the next book. If you want to know what happens next, you’ll just have to read this series yourself — you won’t regret it
This is my favorite book in this series so far. The reason for it is the massive character growth by Liam and Sofia. Both took control and responsibility of their own lives and their emotions in this one. They still have their flaws. Sofia is a sloppy drunk and it comes back to bite her in the butt. Liam is either acting out in a jealous rage, or hiding his feelings from his friends who want to help him. Neither is a healthy way to live. I especially liked how the author didn't gloss over Liam's issues with self-harm or whether or not Sofia should give Liam a second chance. The two of them really delved into it. I still have questions.
Why would any parent send their child to Orenda Academy knowing the lethality of the elemental cup? Why has the barbaric practices of the elders been allowed to continue?
I ask this, knowing that my own government is just as corrupt, if not so blatant about it. Nothing will be done to fix that either.
A fascinating, paranormal & urban fantasy. As the new school year begins, Sophia, Liam, Imogen, and Jonah resume their investigation of the prophecy. Heartache, jealousy, betrayal, and depression are major themes. A plague is affecting people and their familiars.
The first half of the story is full of uncomfortable scenes. Mostly revolving around the break-up of Sophia and Liam. Enough positive scenes and clues balance the scales. The second half has fewer such scenes, but it becomes action-packed with disastrous results. The end is anything except good. Nonetheless, it appears to be leading to improvements in the remaining titles.
Action-packed. Entertaining. Great world building. Romantic. Scary. Steamy. Tragic. Twisted. Unpredictable. Whimsical. Wonderful characters.
I received a review copy of this book from a third party. This is my honest review.
This is such a captivating story! I appreciate how Sophia and Liam’s reason for being together isn’t because they magically belong together. They chose each other and the process that their characters went through was reasonable and believable. I laughed out loud at least three times reading this which is unusual for me and it also made me sad a few times and I was making sad faces at the book! This author knows how to pull your heart strings! Also I think it’s precious the way she depicts friendships.
Final thought: the book was published January 2020, but this book lines up eerily well with events from the pandemic. I must have checked the publishing date six times because as I read the book I kept thinking I must have gotten the date wrong. I don’t know what the author tapped into, but I’m impressed with her and looking forward to reading the rest of the series!
This is a FANTASTIC book! At one point all I wanted to do was throw the damn Kindle! The anticipation of wondering how the storyline would continue. Be warned though, you won’t be able to put the book down. Heck, I look like a zombie because I couldn’t put the book down when I should have been sleeping and even locked myself in the Office and read during my working hours (lol). The adventure continues in this book but it brought an onslaught of emotions. From anger directed at the Elders, to frustration (Liam and Sophia’s relationship) to fear and anticipation. Be prepared though, the book ends in a “What the…? Oh. MY. GOODNESS!!!” moment. October is just too far for book 4. I need it like yesterday.
The Earth Legend is the longest book in the series thus far and it is one heck of a wild ride. Not only is there tension between the group Sophia, Liam, Imogen, and Jonah, but there is also a catastrophe happening at the Academy of Magical Creatures. Not only are magical creatures going missing with no idea who is doing this or where they are being taken to, but familiars and their students are getting sick with a strange illness that not even Esis can heal. It's going to take a lot for this group of heroes to save the day, but first they need to be better about working together, just like they did for the Elemental Cup.
Liam and Sophia have broken up, thank the ancestors. But there’s a lot of angst and anger and again, I think Liam is an a-hole for his behavior during much of the book.
Familiars are going missing and getting sick, Sophia and friends are still trying to figure out the prophecy, and it still feels like nothing is happening and actually progressing the plot. While I want to know if my thoughts are correct, as of 60% of the way through this, I wasn’t sure I wanted to continue.
However! The end really picked up in action and plot and I did have to pick up the rest of the series because now I’m invested in what comes next.
I really think I'm done with this series. I tried (probably for too long) to love this book, but the first half of this book, at least, is just teenage drama, and it's okay, but it's getting a bit repetitive for me. I think overall these books are a bit long for the amount of plot advancement we have. Like the last few chapters are full of tension, but the rest of it was a bit slow for me. Also, not a big fan of a lot of the background messages of the story. Overall, I hoped for more, and it wasn't. Maybe it just wasn't for me at the end of the day, and I don't think I have the patience for 3 more books. I'll probably read the epilogue or something to know who lives and who dies.
By the ancestors, this book was not what I was expecting! It was darker, sexier and a twisted tale! I never expected this story to take these turns and it threw me off. It was thrilling, exciting, heartbreaking, scary and I don't know what to expect next! I absolutely love Sophia, Liam and the gang, and watching them grow as characters through the series is so compelling. The storyline is a roller coaster of emotions, the world building is beautiful and mysterious and the characters are building in momentum and I don't know which direction to follow! It's all just so magnetic!
The story line is interesting but took forever to unravel. It could have been written less descriptive. Worst part is that the main character becomes bisexual for 10% of the book and it is really descriptive, how can you add such a thing in the third book when the whole story is about Liam and Sophia? Why add this when everyone wants to hear only about their love story? Seemed like the author had nothing else to add so added this nonsense and wasted my time. The author wants to just be a part of the dumb trend and added it but straight people don’t want to hear any of this especially if it’s the 3rd book. I wish the author wrote more about the plot and focused on unraveling it better.
The Earth Legend (Academy of Magical Creatures #3) continues to create bombshell moments. A dust of darker, more sensuous, & a utterly twisted tale. The world building descriptions details & settings are vivid and well detailed. Character's are compelling and resilient. The dynamics & blossoming friendships between the characters & houses is intriguing. The writing style is exhilarating as well as innovative. The ending is mysterious & im looking forward to reading the next novel in this series.
wow The Earth Legend is just as fantastic and books one and two. Sophie Liam Imogene Jonah are back. This term starts out with Sophie and Liam agreeing to be friends and then students familiars turn up missing and elders are getting sick dark things are happening and The Gang has to hurry to find the pieces that the prophecy speaks of. I love the jealous scenes in this one like the strip club that one had me rolling on the floor laughing another home run of a book
