Adaptuota sutrumpinta versija

Oliveris Tvistas yra vargšas našlaitis. Vargšų prieglaudoje jis patiria daug žiaurumų. Alkanas ir be pinigų jis pabėga į Londoną.

Ten Oliveris papuola į baisaus nusikaltėlio Feigano vadovaujamos vagių gaujos nagus. Susidraugavęs su tos gaujos apiplėštu vyriškiu, Oliveris ilgainiui atgauna savigarbą, suranda namus, šeimą ir savo laimę.

I remember when I got this book in my stocking at Christmas, along with other illustrated classics, that I wasn't very impressed with them at the time. However I did read a few of them. I remember reading this using the light from the floodlights that lit up the football pitch behind my house, I should have been in bed asleep. Another trick of mine for reading after lights out was pretending I needed the toilet and taking my book in there and sitting on the floor to have a good read without my parents suspecting. Anyways, this was one of the first over 100 pages books I read. I found it slightly boring at the time. Re-reading now I found it slightly more interesting but I can tell its been heavly edited because from seeing plays and the movie, I think it misses out quiet abit. Seemed like the artful Dodger wasn't mentioned enough. I think this would be a good one to read out loud to a small child. A way to introduce them to Dickens. The illustrations aren't great but good for breaking up the words if like when I first read this you arn't used to books without pictures. Maybe I should read the offical version of this book!

Merged review:

I loved this book! I sat and read this in an hour last night. Even though this is not the original version, it's been edited for younger readers it's still well worth a read. I really must get around to reading the full version one day!

Even though this is for younger readers, it didn't shy away from the hard stuff like the picture book I reviewed did. Ginger actually dies in this one :(

I'm really glad this book brought to light the mistreatment of horses, they are wonderful animals. I've always wanted to own one but funds will never allow for that, unless I suddenly come into alot of money.

Wonderful book, would recommend to old and young alike :)

I don’t know whether it’s the edition that I read this in or maybe it’s just me but I personally found this book kinda boring. Luckily it went by quickly because there’s illustrations on every 2nd page. This defiantly would play out better as a movie which I’ll have to watch sometime soon. In the distant future I might also read this story in its original form.

Cute little story that teaches us not to mistreat animals. The story moved me a lot when I was a kid, and it's still nice to re-read it after all those years.

Klassiker - Charles Dickens

Absolut empfehlenswert.
