Communities is about people that live within a community and how they contribute. Each person that is in the book has a different job and it gives a description of what they do. At the end of the book it gives definitions for the students to read more about each profession.

Activity: I would use this in my classroom during Language Arts. I would first read the book to the class. Then I would re-read the story, as I read a sentence, the class the echo the sentence back. Once we have read the book twice they will turn their elbow partner and re-read for a third time. They will go back to their desk and right about the beginning, middle, end, and main idea. This will make them recall information and write it in complete sentences.

This book is all about the community and the community helpers. It talks about people that do things for their communities. Some examples are doctors, police officers, and fire fighters. This book is good to read to the students to let them know more about their community and the people in it.
