Blood and Wine

Rate this book
A slow-burning descent into darkness and desire...

Betrayed. Imprisoned. Alone.

For decades I have suffered as a reluctant blood donor. Caged like an animal and drained of my strength to enrich the Radcliffs and their winery. I’d forsaken all hope of escape—until the winemaker’s daughter returns to the family’s estate.

A drop of my immortal blood is all it takes to activate her psychic talents. Now we’re connected, and all that remains is convincing her to seek me in the darkness.

Bribe. Seduce. Deceive.

To claim she’s too young is an understatement. But a starving man doesn’t have the luxury of waiting for fruit to ripen. I’ve awakened her gifts, and now it’s her turn to replenish me.

I will have my fill of the winemaker’s daughter. Then I will take revenge on her family.

This makes me feel so nostalgic, totally reminds me of books and movies I enjoyed when I was younger. I’m thoroughly enjoying this one.

Omg, how much do I love the grandmother ghost that folds her clothes.

The villains are plentiful and the kind you just love to hate.

I swear this is the wittiest, most charming story I’ve ever read from this author. A great way to kick off my Halloween reading.

That was the hottest, most gruesome way to lose her virginity and I loved every second of it!

This was way too short! It’s not that MS didn’t give me enough but it was too good and I wanted so much more. What a great little read.

Wine and Blood is a gothic, PNR, delight. It’s full of psychics, ghosts, vampires, and a psychotic family. Margot Scott wrote an action pack, dark romance story, and so steamy.

After Mariah's mother passes away, she is going to Virginia to meet her father, Edward, for the first time. Edward Lives in her mother's childhood home with his wife and two children.

Holy shit, I think, maybe this really is the most enchanted place on earth

All is not what it seems with Edward and his family. The wife and children are far from welcoming. Mariah meets Will, a tapped vampire in Edwards home. Edward is using his blood for several reasons.

Perhaps it was my own doing. Vampire blood has restorative properties for humans. In addition to being incredibly addictive, it can heal them almost instantly. It can make them faster, stronger, and more alert. If they drink enough over a long period of time, it’ll slow down the aging process, while clearing up scars and blemishes.

Will and Mariah’s love story is slow burn-Once everything is revealed, buckle up. It’s a bumpy ride. I loved the character growth between the two and how much strength development in Mariah. Not once did I feel like this book was rushed. I have to add about Mariah’s ‘“family,” the ghosts. They are a great addition to the story, and I loved them. I would definitely reread this book.

I received an arc in exchange for my honest review

It was well written, I liked the premise and was glad how much power the heroine developed in the shortest amount of time... But it wasn't perfect, some things felt manipulative and the villains seemed a bit artificial.

Plus I wanted to see more of "getting to know each other" between the main characters. It was mentioned they spent a lot of time together, but I wanted to actually see that time, to know what they were talking about - they've got quite a significant age-gap after all! I wanted more.

But as far as kinky paranormal romances go, it was a fast and entertaining read and I'm glad I've read it.

Wow! I'm no expert in PNR but this one is brilliantly written. A fresh take on vampire romance, highly recommended for vampire lovers. 😍

the plot is simple. it starts off with the death of Mariah's mum, a clairvoyant. Mariah subsequently moved to stay with his father (who also has his own family), as per her mum's wish. Mariah is also able to control her dreams. In the night when she's lucid dreaming, she meets William, a mysterious guest lingering around the family's vineyard. Her presence is clearly not welcomed by her half sister & brother and Mariah starts to question her father's true intention. And who exactly is William, appearing only when she's lucid dreaming?

Mysterious and interesting read, just in time for halloween LOL. I love the suspense created especially regarding the family's vineyard. Blood and Wine the title explains all. guess i'll be looking out for more PNR romance now. 4.5 stars!

Awesome slow burn vampire romance!!! And the cover is beautiful and eye catching!! Margot Scott did a fabulous job writing not only a interesting storyline but also amazing and very likeable characters. When Mariah's mother dies of cancer she goes to meet her father for the first time. And while it is a beautiful wine vineyard and estate it hides evil around every corner and though her father seems to be warm and kind her stepmother and step brother and sister are cruel and spooky acting. Soon Mariah starts seeing ghosts in her dreams and one of them is the handsome William. He has promised to help her find her mothers ghost again but what she doesn't know is William is a vampire and he's been held captive and bleed for over 20 years so Edward and his family could become more powerful. And with Mariah's blood full of special powers mixed with Williams blood it will make them even more so. But Will will use her to get the keys to release him and if it means killing her too he will get his revenge. But from their very first meeting he is smitten with the beautiful and innocent Mariah, and starts to fall in love with her but will it be enough to stop the blood lust once he is freed? Or will the monster he has become kill the only person he has ever loved. Great storytelling with some great suspense and some steam on the side made this a very enjoyable read. Until next time Luv's💕💋

A nice sweet short read! My god, how I love Margot Scott's works. This new addition was again, a tame, a bit slow burn one coming from an author who wrote Pretty, Dark and Dirty (which until today I am still conflicted about).

We have vampires, ghosts and a secluded vineyard villa with hidden secrets. I gotta say though, the smut in this (although very lacking boo hoo) was explosive (and bordering on dub-con)! If you're looking for something short to just fill the time and fix for a crazed vampire, do try this!

For now though, I'll just wait patiently for that 5 stars read from her, which I know she'll deliver!

I was going to give 4 stars because despite being short and lacking depth the story has a nice idea behind it (could have been slow burn with vampires, ghosts and creepy atmosphere) but then a noncon scene happened which was so poorly justified that it ruined everything for me

I never finished Tanith Lee’s Dark Dance but Blood and Wine feels like what Dark Dance could be but for YA due to the gothic atmosphere treated in a lighter, informal fashion.

What Blood and Wine also reminds me of is a story I read when I was like 8 or 9. I can’t remember what it was called, but it was like Fear Street or Christopher Pike books. A teenage girl moves into a new house and comes across a mysterious artifact. Is it a journal? A locket? I can’t remember. But she accesses it and unleashes what appears to be a kind spirit. A man she is attracted to, and can only communicate with in the house and in her mind, really. However, the spirit soon turns malevolent. In one memorable scene, she has a boy from school at her place and although he strokes her hair gently, the spirit makes it feel as though he is yanking her hairs out.

Blood and Wine is sort of like that, girl falling in love with a spirit she can connect with on another realm, except for the malevolent part. These scenes had the most yearning, emotion.

This and the gothic atmosphere is effective.

This was decent for how short it was. The story was good, and the characters were fairly well-developed. Although it lacked a certain depth, it wasn't unenjoyable. I wanted to see more of the leads getting to know each other, especially since he was almost twice her age physically (not counting the centuries he's been alive). The non-con/rape scene was gross! It really didn't have to happen that way. And there was some lovely rape apology going on afterward--it's FINE, because no one tells HER how to feel about being raped! (She came. That's why it was fine.)

Still, this was a quick read and a fun way to pass an evening.

The story from start to finish captivates your heart and soul. There was not a dull moment, and it was over far before I wanted it to be. I couldn't say more about the alluring plot Margot Scott created. Absolutely stunning.

This story is about a human girl en route to none the less, but her destiny. She suffers loss and yet finds great gains in this beguiling piece.

If only Mariah knew what was in store for her the moment she stepped in the vineyard, would she have chose differently?

Releasing October 29th, this is a beautiful opportunity for a reader to lose themselves entirely for a few hours, in the mystical, sexy, yet violent life of Mariah.

Guess I should’ve read the Content Warning.

The “forceful sexual contact” seemed a lot like rape to me.. Especially when it’s not discussed prior AND the heroine is an 18 year old virgin. And of course it happens in the last 15% so it totally ruined the book for me. Ugh, I just don’t know why that was necessary. It was such a beautiful paranormal romance until that scene.

This was such an utterly unique twist on the usual vampire story!
The characters were pretty awesome too and I found this so refreshing and captivating.

At one point though, I did pick up a stuffie and throw it across my room in a fit of rage because of her dick-head of a father.

*sighs* This happens sometimes...I get way too caught up.

MARIAH
I really liked this lass and feel so bad for her.
She’s just lost her mother to cancer and until she turns 18 in a few weeks, she’s been shipped off to stay with her father.

A father she’s actually never met...and his skank-ass wife and two spoiled arse kids.
Anyway, she decides to try to get along with them the best she can - points to her because I would have drop-kicked these motherfuckers the first time they caught an attitude.

Her mother had a gift - she was clairvoyant. But Mariah never really felt that she had it until she arrived at her mum’s childhood home and somehow manages to dream walk and meet a sexy AF dude.
Over the next week or so she starts to discover all kinds of new talents...and feelings for this sexy dream guy but there is something waaaay off with her new family.

WILL
So this lad has basically been locked in some creep fucker’s basement for the last 20 years. Being drained and starved and just barely kept alive.
And when I say ‘lad’ I mean hot vampire, lol.

Unbeknownst to the craptastic family, he is able to astral project. And that’s how he meets Mariah for the first time.
He discovers that she’s actually quite powerful. And so a plan of escape begins to form.
A plan where he uses her in order to escape and drains her dry for strength.
But then he starts to catch feels, lol.

SEX SCENES
As you may well know...I’m a horny girl. All. The. Time. So I kinda wished there was more sex!
I kiss a line from her knee to her inner thigh. When my lips finally reach her pussy, she whimpers. I spread her wide so I can see all of her. My God, it has been far too long since I’ve come face-to-face with a woman’s body, and hers is beyond luscious. As I touch my tongue to her clit, I’m dismayed that my sense of taste is somewhat dulled in the twilight realm. Still, I can tell she’s delicious. I don’t want to waste a single drop of her honey. I focus my attention on the tiny, stiffened bud that brings her so much pleasure. She moans, her heartbeat cantering along as I swirl my tongue against her. I try a few different approaches until I discern what she likes and then continue doing that until she’s practically bucking. As her breathing becomes erratic, I keep my pace consistent. “Oh God, Will...” She tugs at my hair. “Fuck...” I lick and suck her clit even as she shakes and twitches, until she goes still and silent, right before she moans. As soon as she’s finished riding out her orgasm, I stand and capture her open mouth. She tastes herself on me. Pulling her close, I grind my cock against her so there’s no doubt in her mind how badly I want her. My hands map the landscape of her skin, just as her hands find and squeeze my ass. “I want you,” she whispers. “Please.” I feel almost lightheaded as I reach for the button on my pants. I haven’t touched my own cock in years. Pulling it out, it becomes a hard, demanding thing between us that commands Mariah’s attention. She wraps her fingers around the shaft. I groan. “Your eyes are glowing,” she says. I close them. “Does it frighten you?”“No,” she says. I kiss her hard. Thrusting into her fist, I feel like I could come from this slight contact alone. It’s not the same as if she were touching my physical body, but it’s a thousand times better than my own fist. Yes, I could indeed come just like this— But I’m dying to get inside her.

FINAL THOUGHTS on BLOOD and WINE by Margot Scott
This was such a great twist on the usual PNR and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The story was great and the characters were realistic. It did have a couple of scenes that may be triggering though, so just a wee word of warning.
I didn’t find it dark exactly but I tend to have a slightly skewed sense of what’s actually ‘dark’, lol.

Let me start this by saying and she does it again

I am an avid Margot Scott fan and this book delivered. Mariah is sent to Virginia to meet her father after her mother passes away. It is her mother’s final wish to send her daughter to her childhood home. But she is not prepared for what awaits her. Her mom is what some may call gifted and Mariah does not feel like she has developed the family gift.
Mariah’s father Edward brings her there with the idea to use for his own ulterior motives and his family is awful.
Not only do the treat her like an enemy they challenge her in every way possible. Mariah can’t seem to get out of there soon enough then she meets William the man of her “dreams”. There love is a slow steamy ruin the sheets type of burn and it was a pleasure to watch them fall. 🖤🖤🖤🖤

Blood & Wine by Margot Scott is a dark paranormal romance read that brings all the heat, danger, suspense, intrigue, passion, angst, secrets, twists and just the right amount of taboo to keep the readers coming back for more. Mariah and William's story enthralls, and entertained during All Hallows Eve. The chemistry is sizzling, really good characters and the plot flows. Solid story!

So good! I need more!

Seriously the best I've read by Margot Scott to date! I need more! Will's brother's stories would be amazing to read! Her version of vampires is so perfect! Twilight without being too Twilight (you know what I mean.) Would have liked more sexy times but I always want more of that! Haha Honestly I'm just all around thrilled with this story. I couldn't put it down so I finished it all in one night! I would love a follow up story about Mariah & Will even if it's a short one. I'd like to know what happens to them in the future. Do they have kids? Can vampires have kids in Margot's vampire world? Also werewolves? Yes please!! & Will's comment about "just the tip of the iceberg." Ummmm I'd definitely like to explore that! I'm really hoping Margot spends A LOT more time in this fantasy world because I LOVE IT! But please don't stop the daddy stuff because I live for that... okay? Haha

It was good in the beginning and then it got hella weird.

She's 17 and he's over 100 or so? Like I knew age gap, because Vampire, BUT AN ADOLESCENT?! Also maybe I read it wrong, but I could have sworn that Will called Mariah's grandma a distance relative of his...so are they related or what 🤨

Also ON PAGE R@PE! HELL TO THE NO...DISGUSTING. I didn't read the warnings (really should have though) but it days something about forced, but this felt disgusting. She's trys to justify it by going into his brain and turning his pleasure into hers. What the hell does that even mean?

I honestly can't believe I finished this. It was nasty, weird, and so fucked up. Like the pissing on the bed in the beginning by her half-brother was one of the most borderline insane things I've ever read.

The only thing I liked about this book was the ghosts. I want to go to the spiritual realm.

I love the show of growth in William’s character, particularly when it comes to Mariah. One of my favorite quotes (there are so many in this book): “I will *always* hold her up.” This is another Margot Scott book that I will read again and again.

Blood and Wine by Margot Scott was a short and captivating paranormal romance. 18 year old Mariah moves to the childhood home of her mother, who has just died, where her father currently lives with his family. She's lived with her clairvoyant mother all her life, and is just really getting to know her father and family home with this move. Her father owns a successful wine company, which is on the family property. There are many secrets about her father, his wife and children, and the wine company that Mariah doesn't know. The longer she stays with them, the more she starts gaining these odd abilities, and soon she's talking with a ghost named Will. Will has plenty of his own secrets, but can't help connecting with Mariah on another level. Mariah works to uncover the secrets that lie in the house and also deal with her feelings for Will.

I really loved this paranormal romance. The plot was pretty complicated, and I do wish the book had been longer so that more of the ideas and storylines were fleshed out, but I thought the book did a good job overall of being easy to understand. I really liked Mariah and Will's chemistry and seeing their relationship develop. Mariah's father and his family were super creepy, and this was a really suspenseful and mysterious book, but I loved it. I've read and loved some of Margot Scott's other books, and Blood and Wine was completely different from her usual work. I'm hoping she writes more paranormal romances because this one was so good! This wasn't her usual steamy erotic romance, however. It's a really slow slow-burn romance, and there's so much build up to their relationship, and then there's not a ton of steam. But I still really enjoyed reading about them. There is a bit of a gray area in terms of them having s*x for the first time and what was happening, which is a little iffy for me. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by how hooked I became on this romance, and I really enjoyed reading it.

I have been dying to finally sink my teeth into this book since I snagged it, and I finally got the chance while on vacation over the past weekend.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 5 stars

I was thinking this would be a much darker read based on the blurb, but it wasn't. Some parts of this book definitely needed the trigger warning, but it wasn't as dark as I'd been hoping. But I still thoroughly enjoyed it!

The Hero is a vampire who has been locked in a cell for years. And our heroine is his only hope for escape. But he doesn't plan on falling in love with her.

Their story was EVERYTHING. I absolutely loved this. It was so different from anything else I've ever read, and I could hardly stand to put it down. The smut scenes were hot. The sexual tension was even hotter. And the love between the two characters was just swoon worthy.

“The craftiest predators know to let their prey come to them.”

Book hangover! Seriously.

I was craving a dark, atmospheric vampire romance and I got it. The ending was a bit corny, but I’ll forgive that because the plot was anything but cliche and the chemistry was bold, complex, and layered. A deeply satisfying experience (I wrote that line with a mouthful of Cabernet Sauvignon. Seemed appropriate). In fact, the entire story was vinified with skillful elegance, the atmosphere ripe with lush flavor and dark undertones. As you can see, I’m just soaking in my red, hazy hangover. Book hangover, that is. Or the aftermath of my bookish orgasm? Anyway, you get the picture.

Or do you? Need a better picture painted? Here it is:

Mariah’s just lost her mother and now she’s completely alone in the world. But to fulfill a promise she made to her dying mother, she heads to Virginia to meet her biological father, a vintner named Edward, and his psychotic family. A family of strangers with cold smiles.
At first the vineyard and the grounds on which her mother grew up charm her…despite Edward’s Stepford wife and cruel children. But Mariah doesn’t yet know there’s a monster chained in Edward’s cellar. A beast that will do anything to be free of Edward. Even kill the one person who can free him. Mariah. But William, tortured and vengeful with bloodlust, never counted on feeling anything for Edward’s illegitimate daughter. A daughter with a very powerful and unique set of gifts.

I’ll stop there. I’m not one for spoilers (okay, just one spoiler…and it’s in the next paragraph. You’ve been warned).

If you’re in the mood for a quick and sexy paranormal romance with dark, savory flavors…look no further. Though I will warn you there is one scene that sort of struck me as being slightly…rape-y? Is that a word? I just wasn’t ready, guys. Not into nonconsensual sex; not in the least. The record scratched and my eye twitched a bit, but luckily it sort of made sense. Believe me, I know how weird that sounds, but it kinda worked out and…yeah…I’m not into rape, like I said, but anyway. What I’m trying to say is be warned, it might trigger some people but it wasn’t a deal-breaker for me. Our vampire was in beast mode after all (there, that’s the only spoiler). The scene and the characters’ reactions made total sense and it all really worked. So I was surprised it didn’t disturb me as it should have. It was executed in such a way that I forgave William.

A riveting read despite that blip of a sex scene, and despite the sappy HEA ending. I love HEA, don’t get me wrong, but it was on the saccharine side of Happy. Jus’ sayin. It’s not a perfect book by any means, and Mariah’s first time is violent, but I read it in one sitting and it kept me totally absorbed where other books have failed. Blood and Wine was pure, well-written escapism and for that it deserves the five stars I’m awarding.

Now I need to find a similar book to fill the gaping hole Blood and Wine has left in my heart.

Mariah & Will

2★ (originally 3★ but there is a rape scene on page done by H to h, so I removed a star)

This feels weirdly dated even tho this got published in 2020? Idk I could have sworn that it was published in the 90s with all the references to portable CD players, bands of the 80s & 90s etc.
I even checked when this came out. Is it known as set in the early 90s? Otherwise I can't explain the framing.

Anyhow; After Mariah's mother died, she was invited to her estranged Father's estate and vineyard (that way back when belonged to Mariah's grandfather who sold it to the father).
The father has one of the best wines out there ... because every bottle has a little bit of vampire blood mixed in. The Vampire in question was double crossed (the vampire tracked his family line and basically wanted to buy the estate from the grandfather when the father betrayed him), captured and then basically almost drained for blood.

This is the first thing I don't understand. HOW did they double cross a super powerful vampire. How did they capture him in the first place? They talk about a silver spray and a crossbow, but seriously? That's how you captured a super powerful vampire?
And how did they even get the idea to not kill him - but drain and drink his blood? I just don't get it.
I mean if I happen to capture a vampire my first thought isn't "oh I wanna drink his blood and see what happens"

Weird.

So, the father knew that Mariah's mother had visions of the future and he counted on the fact he could maybe coax Mariah to have visions like her mother as well, by giving her vampire blood. He upped the dosage in the wine. He put it in smoothies and cake. They basically force fed her the blood without giving it to her as is. Mariah described a coppery tasted which made me gag because I HATE the taste of metal. But at the end the Father succeeds in awakening her gifts - but it's not visions. At least not very clear ones. She can see ghosts now and her passed mother and grandparents.
The fathers plan was to turn her into a vampire herself and keep her to further expand his business with her visions.

By the way the fathers wife and two kids were super bitchy about the fact that the father's old mistresses child stayed with them (oh yeah the father cheated on his wife with Mariah's mother) and were downright cruel to her. Sometimes almost killing her in the process. At the end it's the children's anger at Mariah that let to their death.

To the actual romance;
I liked that Mariah & Will met on the astral plane. He's a captive vampire who's only lick of freedom is being able to project his mind onto the astral plane. And she's a ... some sort of medium / clairvoyant and meets him in her lucid dreams. At least that's what she thought she did. Actually she projected herself and met Will.

He wants to use her to free himself, even tho he knows that he will kill her in the process (her dead grandmother, who is residing on the astral plane as well, had a vision that showed it) ... but before he can do that he falls in love.

And it would have been cute ... if we would actually had seen them fall for each other. But we basically get their first night or two ... but then in jumps in time with them telling us what happened. Meh.
I wanted to be with them when they grew close. I don't like that it was told to us and not shown.

I also based on the blurb thought Mariah would drink the blood unknowingly and then get "called" towards the vampire. I didn't expect the entire astral plane at all .. but it was a kinda cute addition.

Tho, what I don't like is the thought of the grandparents and parents just chilling alongside of the people in the realm of the living - I kept thinking about people having sex and they could potentially watch it all? Even their grandchildren?

Also ... If every single soul who lived on that estate resides as a ghost ... wouldn't the estate not be ridiculously full of ghosts?

Ah, I got sidetracked. So.
I liked that at the end it was packed with action. I liked that they all got killed except Mariah ... well technically she got killed as well, but I don't wanna nitpick ... because that's the only logical thing that could happen if you set free a blood thirsty vampire hell bend on revenge.

I HATED HATED HATED the non con sex scene. Did it have to be included in that shape or form? He basically satisfied his bloodlust and then he wanted to satisfy his bodily lust. And Maria was there and overpowered. Mariah had to literally break into Will's mind to tap into HIS pleasure that HE felt in order to be okay with what happened. And then when Will grovels and is horrified (as he should) she is already over it?
I- WHAT? No. Just no.

Urgh.
I actually liked the twist ending when the Father got back and wanted to kill Mariah just like her grandmother saw in her vision ... but the non con scene really messed the entire ending up for me.
And it wasn't even good. Like even the consensual smut scenes weren't great.

I liked the story overall and would have given the story 3★ but because of the rape scene at the end it got downgraded to 2★.

Also ... I don't know vampire business, but how the hell do they keep their land and the estate for years to come. They don't get older. People will start to notice. I would like to know how the paperwork side of a vampire in that universe looks like.
Especially bc Will says at the end that he got in touch with an old contact who basically hooked Will back up with his old wealth and lands. So. How does it work?

*EDIT*
OH MY GOD THEY ARE RELATED.
I didn't put two and two together at the time of reading it, but Will reached out to find his descendants and Mariah is the last heir of the estate. So he is her grand grand grand grand grand (idk how many grands) father? or uncle? Either way IT'S SO WEIRD!
No. Just no!
I'm so glad I was made aware of this fact *after* I finished reading the book. 🫢

«  Love is the most powerful force there is. It makes us stronger, not weaker. »

The infamous legend about the « dad’s side of the family »? Yeah, quite accurate in this novel.

🌸 Paranormal Romance
🌸 Vampires
🌸 Violence

Rating: 2⭐️
Genre: New Adult Paranormal Romance
Format: Ebook
Pages: 191
Spice: 🌶️ (one detailed scene)
POV: First POV with two POVs
S/S: Standalone
Check trigger warnings for any book (SA, violence, death…)

Well I thought I’d enjoy this more than I did. There was a good premise, the lore was very interesting but some of the elements were just bad.

First off, why make her freshly 18 and be « so okay with the fact that I just got SA’ed ». Really bad. Could’ve been entirely scrapped. It did not change the plot or the relationships.

The abuse from the family made sense sure, but if we had had more understanding of why the family was divided on what to do with Mariah, it would’ve been more impactful.

I thought the mom, or the ghost in general, would’ve had a more prominent role, but we just got one advice session and that was that.

The big ending finale felt rushed. There wasn’t much explained, the reasons felt really surface-level. Mariah is supposed to be living as she did prior, trauma-free.? Okay, sure.

Just not good overall. Would not recommend it.

RELEASING OCTOBER 29TH, 2020

Vampires, Ghosts, and Psychics Ohhh My!!!

Blood & Wine was a very unique and quick read that just had the right amount of drama and supernatural characters.

This book centers around William and Mariah, two lost souls trapped in the Radcliff’s Estate. After she loses her mother she gets sent to her father that she has never met. Truths come to light as to what really happens at Radcliff’s Winery and what part do they want Mariah to play?

This slow-burn romance does a great job of character building and putting up the building blocks to a believable relationship between the characters. I feel that there are some books that rush to the meaty parts and don’t take the time for us to get to know the people in the stories! This book definitely gave us the time to do just that!

This book is well written and I will definitely read it again!

I enjoyed this book and found the storyline was unique and very intriguing. This book is slow burning, suspenseful, dark and has an overall heavy, creepy, horror-ish feel to it. Mariah and William were interesting characters that made a compelling pair. I really loved them as a couple. They seemed to be two halves of a whole and they made each other better and more and that is something that always appeals to me. As much as I enjoyed this book, I do feel that the shorter length was a detriment to it. I felt that a story and characters that were so clever and complex deserved much more time and room to grow, develop and be explored. Still a very, very good read but I feel a longer length format would have given this book the opportunity to reach the greatness it strived for and just came up a bit shy of. I am posting a elective and unbiased review.
