Though Eason seems almost too eager to help…
Soon, Benedict’s cover-up and Jolene’s secrets clash with passionate results. And Eason must decide if he’ll take the ultimate risk, revealing a truth that will change the course of history.
The Nine-Inch Difference is a steamy MFM romance novel. This menage romance contains scenes that may be dangerous for readers with untreated heart conditions. For adults only.
If Cleo isn't writing (or reading!) erotica, she's probably sitting on her balcony, watching the wind blow through the trees. She loves snowstorms, horses, and piña coladas. If she won the lottery, she would hire an assistant to take care of the technical side of e-publishing so that she could write all day.
Some random facts about Cleo: 1. Thinks life's too short to forgo HEAs and HFNs. 2. Sprained an ankle joining the mile-high club. (Never again!) 3. Favorite writers include Cormac McCarthy, Junot Diaz and Rachel Caine. 4. Gets weak-kneed for bookish guys who know how to fix things with their hands. *swoons*
So, I read this. I mean, I had to when I read the synopsis during my eBook haul. It's a sci-fi romance. The heroine is a successful woman who knows what she wants, but hasn't been able to find it in a relationship, so she decides to go shopping for an AI companion - something that is still slightly taboo even in this futuristic setting. While she's at the "dealership," she mistakes the owner of the company for an AI and wants to take him home for a trial.
To be completely honest, I had pretty low expectations going into this one, but I ended up reading it in one sitting and really enjoying it! I love strong, smart, successful independent heroines who know what they want and won't be shamed by those things, no matter how taboo. Even the misunderstanding between her and the owner of the company was somewhat understandable and not distracting from the rest of the story.
I love, love, love the AI in this and the discussion of the AI's technology and when his emotional intelligence and feelings give him rights. I liked the conflict and how the three of them became such a strong team.
And, obviously. this was super steamy and we're here for that. There is a BDSM element in this and I thought it was well done, especially with the aftercare and communication.
This was my first book by the author. I enjoyed the premise - male human, female human, and male android. I also thought both the erotic scenes and the relationship development worked well. The BDSM was too strong for me personally, so I skimmed over some of the beatings. I don't want to actually be beaten black and blue with a bar or made to bleed by a whip. However, if you are into sci-fi and enjoy heavy BDSM (true physical abuse as erotic), I recommend. The writing was engaging, and the non- violent portions of the sex scenes were titillating.
This book's blurb reminded me of another sci-fi erotic romance I had read where one of the characters is an android.
Jolene, fed up with human men after her last relationship, walks into the sex bot dealership. She mistakes the man running the company as a robot and takes him home to try him out. He brings along this very special android whose edition hasn't been released yet. But this robot isn't as brainless as everyone had thought.
The time frame of the book was a little weird because the majority of it happened in one evening/night, then a month or two passes, and then we get the epilogue 2 years later. So are they all going to live in Benedict's house that Jolene remodeled at the end? I would have also liked an epilogue with kids.
To be honest, I liked Eason, the robot, a little bit better than the human Benedict LOL
The conversations about the androids and what they could do were interesting, but I'm not sure I understood everything, especially regarding the conflict & how it was resolved.
The sex wasn't the hottest I've read and I could have done without the canings and other painful erotic things. However, having said that, I still enjoyed this book. And it's free on Amazon, so even better! :)
The Nine Inch Difference, first of all what a title! Second of all shout-out to the bookish community, because you are the reason I love to have my own account. So thanks for dropping this new author in my hands.
I enjoyed this read very much so. It's a little sci-fi which I'd never read before plus a hint of BDSM and a MFM romance fair to say you have it all.
Jolene is looking for someone to give her the lover life she desires between the sheets. So why no get a sexbot. However when she accidentally talks to one of the owners thinking he's a robot things take a turn.
Benedict, didn't expect to fall into lust for Jolene at first sight and then follow her home as she believed he was a robot. He kept the ruse but tried his best to sell her on one of his robots however she made it clear she wanted only him.
He was respectful to not take advantage of her but could have come clean sooner. But when she spots his lie and tries to wear him down tension builds. Bring in Eason, a sexbot and well things spice up quickly.
It was fun otherworldly read. A bit of love and bit of heat and a lot of fun. It's one of those books you want when you want full escapsim and into a whole different genre so I'd reccomend it. And I'd read from Cleo again as her writing was engaging and easy to dive into!
Honestly I really didn't like this book. I tried so hard to get into it but I couldn't. The writing style is very juvenile and the story is skipped over genuinely for the purpose of sex scenes.
The main chunk of the book is focused on one sec scene that's actually only a few hours in the storyline but it takes up about 60% of the pages or more. Then after spending so long on that scene it skips a whole month just to get you caught up with where they want the story to go.
If it was longer and the story was fleshed out rather than just focusing on really long sex scenes then maybe I would've felt differently. It's like it's trying to make you have an emotional reaction. it you haven't had time to bond with the characters because they're just humping like bunnies all the time.
Overall I was disappointed, it felt like a teenager had written it on Wattpad or Tumblr.
I loved the premise, liked the writing style, and there were some very sexy scenes including spanking/caning kink, but a few things didn't work for me. It was a shame we didn't get Eason's perspective til near the end. Also the timing was odd, about 80% of the book was a single day so some aspects felt super drawn out, then it jumps a month ahead just when Jolene, Benedict, and Eason are really connecting, then the epilogue is two years later and it felt like we missed a whole lot of them falling in love.
The ideas that people come up with haha, but this idea was brilliant, it actually came together perfectly. I guess with the way technology is going, this is completely possible.
Ok. Yes I read this. Oh my word. The android part was awesome the bdsm surprise was quite the surprise. Wow.
Ok and the ending. Like WTF?! Sudden 2 year laps and she got to make the house of her dreams. I thought she said she wouldn't have the money for 50 or so?
Sigh. Meh
The more I thought about this book and the android dude. All I can think about now is karl urban and Michael ealy from the tv show almost human. 🤤
Good read. Liked the android story line and the characters are good. A ladies fantasies bought to life after she goes out to buy a sex bot and gets a lot more than she bargained for. Lots of saucy screens and BDSM and very well written.
POV: multiple HUMOR: a little F BOMBS: yes CLIFFHANGER: no NEW AUTHOR FOR ME: yes TRIGGERS: mfm (no mm), fifth base, BDSM, hard spankings
The blurb was what drew me in. I almost passed up on this one because the title of the book sounded perhaps too porno-ey (if that's a word). I guess I learned not to judge a book by it's title.
Jolene is a strong, independent, female who knew what she wanted (spankings with some pain) and enjoyed sexy times but just didn't have the time for a relationship. Benedict is a dominant, wealthy, handsome, and intelligent male who was physically attracted to Jolene at first sight (and happens to enjoy hard spankings). Eason is a kind and intelligent android that is programmed/designed with lots of Benedict's traits, including good looks and the title of this book. I actually liked Eason more than Benedict.
This story is an erotic sci-fi set in the future. Although it was easy-to-read and some of the sexy times were steamy, there could've been more in terms of chemistry. There is a scene near the end that should've been high on emotions, but due to not quite having that chemistry in their relationship, it just didn't go where it could have. Parts of the story were exciting and some parts I felt needed some skimming/skipping.
Would've given this a higher rating until I got to the end. There is an epilogue (this is usually a plus), which usually signals an HEA, and it does. However, it just sort of ends - in the middle of a love scene.
I was so excited to read this one, and was totally expecting to enjoy it. A futuristic setting, an interspecies human/human/android menage, BDSM, and mistaken/hidden identity? Yes, please!
But sadly... ugh. :( We’re told they both find each other very attractive (the two humans), but beyond that I wasn’t feeling any real sparks or chemistry between them, which made the spanking/paddling scene so not sexy. But what really killed it for me (and made me immediately DNF) was the porn-cringe dialogue...
I love me some dirty talk during sex (or as verbal/mental foreplay), but unfortunately, this was not the kind that turns me on:
“The more I spank you, the wetter you get. Do your friends know what a slut you are?”
If you were my girlfriend, I’d make you my slut. Then I’d fuck the slut right out of you. However much sex you needed, I’d give you twice as much. You’d learn to wake up in the morning and immediately get your mouth on my cock.”
I’m sorry, but that just makes me want to laugh, cringe, and then shrivel up and die inside...
I believe this is the second erotic sci-fi romance that I've read, and you know what? This genre is really growing on me. And this book...Wow! It's pretty darned steamy. I mean, it kind of has to be when it's a ménage with a guy and an android. Let's add a Fourth Law of Robotics to Asimov's laws: A robot must please its partner in bed as long as it does not conflict with the first Three Laws.
Overall, I was pleased with the read, and it went fast. Story length was just right (I don't know why some of these erotica books are like 40,000 words or under), and I felt satisfied with the ending. Jolene's character was a bit...too much sometimes, but Benedict...was absolutely delicious. And Eason? Perfection.
If you're looking for an MFM romance, it's honestly pretty darned good. It has its flaws and was a bit predictable, but I had a great time reading it, which is all that matters to me for a solid erotic romance book.
This takes threesomes to a whole different level. Who would've thought having a robot sex partner would be a thing. I was sad that Jolene had to resort to buying a sexbot. She was tired of getting her heart and her feelings hurt. She goes to the dealership and mistakes the owner for one of the robot models. Because she thought he was a robot, she told him her fantasies. Imagine her surprise when she took him home only to discover by accident that he was human. The evening takes on a romantic feel as she tries to seduce him into revealing his human. He brings in a prototype bot, who's more self aware than he was designed to be. In their role playing, he gets both of them to admit the secrets they were hiding from each other. A bond was formed and they have to figure out how to make this work and keep Eason. This book is filled humor, role playing and soooo much naughty sex. You'll love it.
Did you love Kathryn Moon’s book Good Deeds? Here’s another you’ll love.
Yeah, the Nine-Inch Difference cover is cheesy, but the story of their romance is exceptionally engaging.
It’s a century in the future and daily life is saturated by automation and virtual realities. Benedict’s “Lifestyle Partners” android building company is on the cutting edge of android design. Until recently, they have focused on extremely realistic high end companion bots: sex, cooking, cleaning, companionship, etc. Their most recent project, however, is the super secret creation of ultra-realistic spy/assassin androids for the government. The most sophisticated in the world.
Jolene (yes she’s as gorgeous as her namesake) has had enough of inept, selfish men. Her needs are unusual and still apparently somewhat taboo. She craves to be sexually dominated, so she has raided her savings and decided to buy an android as a pleasure bot that she can teach to be exactly what she needs.
At the showroom Benedict decides to help her choose, but Jolene mistakes him for the “Wildfire” prototype that a different salesperson mistakenly mentioned, and asks Benedict to be her Wildfire trial at her home. Because Benedict is so perfect, right? He is so drawn to Jolene that he decides to keep up the pretense but bring along Eason, the actual Wildfire model, for a trial run.
The story kept surprising me, and Eason stole my heart. Highly recommended, especially if you like Why Choose with robotic ethical dilemmas, a D/s dynamic, and a wee bit of pain play.
If I still read paper books I would shelve The Nine-Inch Difference next to Kathryn Moon’s book Good Deeds, another exceptional (if non-kinky) Why Choose android romance.
The sci-fi part of the book sounded convincing and interesting and the characters had a good connection going on. The book wastes no time getting straight to the point and don’t forget Cleo does know how to write wild engaging steamy scenes, with no taboo. While some of the language used might make you uncomfortable, all the slurs used happen during a sex scene between consenting adults and for the purpose of their fantasies and, I will repeat it, only during said scene. Loved every bit (even if I could have done without the cheesy ending) - Cleo never disappoints.
This was a book that I wasn't sure I was going to like going into it, but it captured me from the very first page. Its not a long read, but I loved every second of it. The characters were enjoyable and all had great chemistry together. The steamy scenes were steamy. I do wish there were more of them really.
Eason was such an interesting character with him being an android but actually developing and having human emotions. I thought the author wrote this well and actually made it believable.
All in all it was a great read and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a quick, hot read with a happily ever after.
I'm not a huge fan of sci-fi, but this AI sci-fi romance was interesting. To be honest, though, for me, this authors vision of the future was more interesting than the romance aspect. Not that the romance element was bad or disappointing, because it wasn't, it's just that her idea of the future was especially interesting.
Overall, it was a fun, quick read and I would certainly recommend The Nine-Inch Difference to anyone who enjoys AI sci-fi or futuristic romance with a heaping side of MFM and BDSM.
This was a great steamy book. There were a lot of love scenes but that didn't bother me and I had a hard time putting it down. This was a different premise for a book than you usually see. I would have liked more story, such as details about his accident and what exactly made him different. May be an epilogue that showed more of a future with kids etc. I loved the book and just wanted more of the characters. Would definitely read again and would buy another if she made into a series. Loved it!!!
This was a different type of story than what I normally read. The main female character, Jolene, is in the market for a robot that can satisfy her submissive needs. So she goes shopping for one. But when she mistakes one of the owners of the company for a robot, the fun begins. This was an enjoyable story although at times it did seem more as if Benedict was the robot and Eason was the human.
This was not what I had expected when I started reading it. It's a futuristic story years into humanity. It an amazing story showing the difference between machine and human and how they can develop if things are different Be warn the book contains BDSM on the heavyer side that is not for the fainted heart but if you can deal with it. It's a hot and amazing read lots of tension and deep emotion. Couldnt put it down.
I liked it very much. This futuristic approach is interesting and funny. To imagine how a future's society can be, how the humans, and androids, would be, makes the novel feels different from others of its genre. An almost human android, and a couple of humans so alike as today's, though, make a perfect match.
Thoroughly enjoyed but I wish we got more from Eason's point of view sooner; I found him fascinating and more likeable than Benedict. The pacing was a little off as well. Most of the book takes place in one day, but then we jump a month and then 2 years at the end so we didn't really get to see their relationship develop.
Jolene decides that she wants a s*xbot after her last break-up. She decides to go to the best. Benedict sees Jolene on the sales floor and goes out to talk to her. We end up with a mistaken identity. Things become more complicated. Will they keep up the charades? Can they find out how to get what they all want? Come on in and find out.
I was pleasantly surprised at how well written the romance was for being a BDSM book. I usually see one or the other being over shadowed by each other, but was quite pleased with the writing style and content. I will definitely be checking out other books written by this author.
Great little stand alone tale , quirky intriguing story of want and list with a very nice twist extremely hot sex scene and a tense end I really enjoyed this story
The android plot was such a cool twist on this genre and it was incorporated in seemlessly. The bdsm elements were strong but didn’t feel cliched. I enjoyed it immensely
A lovely story of an android man and a human man of BDSM persuasion taking a liking to a lovely woman who is looking into buying an android for sexual pleasure.
