Yi Chong-jun (This is the preferred Romanization per LTI Korea) was a prominent South Korean novelist. Throughout his four decade-long career, Lee wrote more than 100 short stories, 13 novels. He died from lung cancer at the age of 68 on July 31, 2008.

사자들에 대한 사랑과 감사와 경의, 그것이 어찌 다만 사자들만을 위한 것일 것인가. 그것은 결국 우리들 살아 있는 자들의 삶을 위한 사랑과 이해의 시작에 다름아닐 것이다. (5) 단 한번, 마지막을 씻겨 드리다.
자식된 자의 도리나 소망으로는 그 과거 속의 노모가 더이상 세월을 거슬러 올라가지 말고 언제까지나 그 물 고운 색동옷 꿈에 싸인 꽃쳐녀 시절에만 머물러 계시기를 빌어 마땅하다. 하지만 당신의 긴 기억 여행은 이제 썩 많은 날을 이어가실 기력이 없어 보인다. 그 기나긴 지난 세월 노인은 당신의 모든 것을 자식과 이웃들에게 다 쏟아주시고 이제는 빈 육신과 순백의 영혼만이 새털처럼 가벼워져 버리신 때문이다. (3) 노인이 비녀를 찾으시다.
