In January 2020, strongly moved by Piers Morgan’s comment that Meghan was playing “the despicable race card” (mail 2020), and from Suzann’s experience of living as a black woman born and raised in Britain, she wrote this book. Suzann is an integrative counsellor. Her counselling training journey was both life-changing and eye-opening, as she learnt how we ALL ingest information, which then becomes unconscious yet powerfully informs our actions & decisions. She has combined her counselling training insight as well as hours of additional research, to demonstrate the process of building implicit racial bias, from the cradle to adulthood. This book explores the processes which affect our human psyche, self-concept and concept of others. She illustrates how we operate out of this unconscious information, at individual and systemic levels, which feeds into a larger macrostructure. “Suzann uncovers the depth of structural racism from Africa, to the slave ships, the UK and America. The historical references are rich and give the reader an opportunity to weigh up what is offered, essentially asking you to decide.” (C. Barge, Lecturer).
