Killian walked into my new voodoo shop late one night with an urgent request - he needed me to heal his friend. Only I know absolutely nothing about voodoo, or healing. I’m just trying to start a new life with what little family I have left after my dream of becoming a star on Broadway went up in flames. Literally. At first glance, he was an average looking guy with a European flair. Nothing outside the ordinary in the city of New Orleans. But despite his nerdy-boy attire, Killian was most definitely all man. And as his black eyes made their way up my body to my face, the look reflected within them wasn’t the least bit tame. More like predatory…
I expected her to cast me down the moment I walked through her door. But I had no choice. One of my own was dying from a witch’s curse, and only another witch could undo the spell. However, Lizzy was not what I’d expected to find. Stunned by her beauty and overwhelmed by her scent, I burned with thirst until the blood raced through my veins and my body tightened with need. But with one taste, she calmed the beast within me as the truth flooded my wicked soul. The witch is MINE. She is the pulse that feeds my immortal life and the bearer of my death. Taking Lizzy as my mate will bring about the end of my coven’s uneasy truce with the witches. Leaving her will mean my demise…
My name is Killian Rice, and I am a vampire. Come Into The Dark with this new series by L.E. Wilson, and enter her Deathless Night. A world of immortals with only one weakness: The witches who can destroy us…
L.E. Wilson writes Paranormal Romance starring intense alpha males and the women who are fearless enough to tame them—for the most part anyway. ;) In her novels you'll find smoking hot scenes, a touch of suspense, a bit of gore, and multifaceted characters, all working together to combine her lifelong obsession with the paranormal and her love of romance.
Her writing career came about the usual way: on a dare from her loving husband. Little did they know just one casual suggestion would open a box of worms (or words as the case may be) that would forever change their lives.
Lattes and music are a necessary part of her writing process, and sometimes you'll find her typing away at her favorite Starbucks. She walks two miles to get there, to make up for all of those coffees.

Night of the Vampire is an immersive paranormal romance that follows Killian and Lizzy, a vampire and witch who work together to try to save a friend from an evil curse. Killian is desperate to save his friend from a deadly curse when he enters a local voodoo shop in search of help. He doesn’t expect to be drawn to Lizzy, the beautiful witch who owns the shop. Lizzie hasn’t fully realized her power and doesn’t know how she can help Killian and his friend. However, she can’t resist the feelings she has for the mysterious Killian. Will they save Killian’s friend in time? Will Lizzy embrace her powers? And can they resist their feelings for each other when fate seems to want them together?
The romance between Killian and Lizzy is chemistry-charged and steamy. They have an intense relationship, and Killian knows from the first meeting that Lizzy is special. Lizzy, however, takes some persuasion. Because of some terrible happenings in her past, Lizzy hesitates to let Killian get close. She doesn’t trust him or herself, and she questions his secrecy and motives. I like that Killian has to work a bit to win Lizzy over. She doesn’t fall at his feet like one would expect when facing a sexy, enigmatic, alpha vampire. I also like that, though Killian is a possessive and dominant leader who is used to getting what he wants without question, he respects and supports Lizzy’s independence enough to let her make her own decisions.
Another highlight of the story is the strong messages about the bonds of friendship and family. Killian and his clan are so loyal toward each other, and their trust in each other, even when they don’t always agree, is implicit. They have a long and complex history, and they value each other. Killian, in particular, is motivated by his love of and loyalty to his friends, and he often puts himself at risk to protect others. Though he has one friend in this close-knit group that has resentments, their unbreakable bond is always present. I love that Lizzie finds a family in Killian and his clan, which is what she had been missing for most of her life.
I enjoyed this unique and well-paced story, and I’m curious to find out more about Lizzie and Killian’s world. Who is targeting them? Will Lizzie and Killian ever catch the evil forces that threaten them? Will Lizzie connect more with her Aunt and work with the coven to develop her skills? As this is the first novel in the series, I have a feeling all of this and more will be explored in future books. Thanks so much to Netgalley, Everblood Publishing, and the author for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.
Night of the Vampire had the potential to be a great story as the premise was quite interesting -an ongoing feud between witches and vampires. I truly enjoyed the mystery surrounding the novel and the diversity and complexity of the backstories of certain characters.
There were a couple of things that threw me off with the main characters, in particular, the fact that Killian is a dick and a killer, and kind of a psycho, tbh his only saving grace could be that he is a Vampire. While this bad boy behavior would normally endear me to the character, I do not think Killian had enough depth as a character, to pull it off.
On the flipside we have Lizzie, a traumatic past and skeletons in her closet, she wants a fresh start. I understand and empathize with her but her reactions to situations were quite confusing, your family admits to you that you’re a witch- you throw a tantrum and get upset stating they are crazy, but you can create fire in the palm of your hands and burned down a building? How is that making any sense ???????
Night of the vampire had all the great elements for a killer series but the writing felt disjointed with tidbits strewn all over instead of one streamlined story. At certain bits I could not help but roll my eyes at the abundance of vampire cliches everywhere- soul mates, blood lust, it felt like a collection of ever vampire trait instead of trying to create a unique or fresh spin.
Despite all this, I think the secondary characters have potential, especially Kenya, and I would read further into the series to see how it progresses.
Thank you to the author and NetGalley for providing me with an arc. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.
Not my favorite, not bad either. The characters work, the writing is good… I just didn’t find myself super interested in it. The only part that really got a reaction out of me was when the mated man did sth a mated man should never do in a book in my opinion. And that’s just what it is, my personal subjective opinion. Because I can actually see other people enjoying this book very much. With how many vampire novels I’ve read lately, that one just didn’t stick out to me either way.
LOVE LOVE LOVE. In case that didn't make things clear enough, I loved this series starter from L.E. Wilson. I mean, I've loved all her books, but there's something extra special about her vampire books, and this one is especially fantastic. Killian is my type of vampire hero--a little dark, a little damaged, and entirely too sexy for his own good. And Lizzy is a heroine that paranormal romance lovers can really relate to--smart, brave, and ready to do whatever it takes to protect those she loves. Long-story-short, this is a read that I can't recommend highly enough. Book 2 CAN NOT come quickly enough for me!!! (Also: For fans of The Originals, Killian sometimes gives me Klaus vibes. Yummy.)
Full disclosure: I received an ARC free of charge and that in no way influenced my review.
NIGHT OF THE VAMPIRE is the first book in the Deathless Night - Into the Dark series. Killian is a vampire, the leader of a coven... sort of. Bless him, Killian is desperate for companionship but has gone about it the wrong way. His best friend now only tolerates him. All that is by the by though as they try to save another member, a little sister figure to them, Kenya. Killian thinks she has been cursed by the witches. He finds out there is a new witch in town and tries to convince her to help Kenya before the witches can turn her against him. Only trouble is, Lizzy is the niece of the High Priestess so things just took a complicated turn...
This is the start of a series, so there is a lot left unknown. Killian and Lizzy get their HFN, but I can only keep my fingers crossed for the long term! Something is targeting the vampires, something the witches don't want to be involved with.
I thoroughly enjoyed Lizzy and Killian's story, especially how she made him work! I am hoping she will work with the witches in future books to develop her skill, as I think she will need it for whoever set fire to her apartment.
I also can't wait for Alex and Kenya's story, plus I'm hoping we get some more information on the overall story arc.
A brilliant introduction to the series that has left me wanting far more than what I got! Bring on book 2!

Merissa Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books! Jan 8, 2021
This was an exciting read, full of vampire lore, witch alliances, a mysterious curse and sizzling chemistry. Killian was all alpha, powerful and sexy as hell. Lizzy has had some rough patches, along with her quirky 'tricks', and a slew of family she knew nothing about. Everything comes to a head in New Orleans and I enjoyed the reading ride. Now to see what's in store for the next book, and maybe some more clues as to who the 'bad guy' is ;)
Killian is head of the vampire coven in New Orleans. One of his vampires, Kenya, has been cursed by a witch and Killian believes it's one of the witches in his city. The vampires and witches don't mingle but he's desperate to help his friend. Lizzy is new in town. She left New York City and her dreams to take over a family business in New Orleans. She has no idea she's a witch but Killian senses her magic and is hopeful she can help Kenya. She doesn't trust him and senses there is something different and dangerous about him but she's also drawn to him. Her world is about to get rocked when she learns witches and vampires are real.
At first I was a bit skeptical as it kinda starts off a bit slow but once it picks up speed....oh my! I think this is the first story/book I've read where a supernatural being is actually getting sick! That part was like... wait a minute this is so contrary to everything you ever read....but then they "feel" the magic of it or at least explain it and your like oh OK. Just like always it's never good to assume things! Killian hear there's a witch in town that doesn't belong to resident witches so he decides to meet her and see if she could help. Upon entering the voodoo store though he feels something but brushes it aside and yes he can tell she's a witch, just not sure which kind and if she's associated with the home team. He gets to know her a bit and that feeling keeping drawing him back. He checks with her nightly to see if she changed her mind, however one night he goes by her house and smells fire. He scales the building only to find a magical fire bent on killing Lizzy. He gets her out of the apartment and of course her dog, Wiggles. He takes her to his home in the Quarter and she stays there for a lil bit. His coven is quite eclectic and at least one really really hates him. After a bit Lizzy decides everyone it bat shit crazy and wants nothing but to run away, until she and Killian get more acquainted and decide to ask for help from the witches. Oh, that is after he force Lizzy to feed Kenya blood, but when Killian opens the vein for Kenya he gets a lil taste and ba-boom! That drop of blood tells him why he's been acting so weird and then he flips out because she's his fated mate!! He goes all neanderthal on everyone and theyre like "whoa dude what's up" but he won't say anything till Lizzy accepts it. So the witches are brought to Kenya and they find out none of them cat the spell and head witch Judy doesn't recognize the magic, however the lone male witch does. He has an idea and they work with him and he does draw out the bad magic but I have feeling Aunt Judy will have questions of her own. Quite the disjointed group and there's poor Kenya, evidently the entire home team of witches really liked her and some random witch or warlock placed a nasty spell on her, it's make her wither and die, inch by inch! Killian tries to give Lizzy what she wants and that's her freedom but until she actually leaves neither of them quite understand how deep they both feel for each other or what that "mate bond" will do. She comes back to find Killian quite ready to die and she confesses the feelings she had as she left town only to be drawn back. Happy ending but hoping there is more, maybe a story for each vampire and witch??? Thank for the opportunity to read this book, soooooooooooooooooo thoroughly enjoyed it!!!

I really enjoyed the start of this book Vampire Killian walks into a voodoo shop in New Orleans looking for the new witch in town who can save the life of his friend from another witches curse. Enter Lizzy and her elderly dog Wiggles who not only hasn't got a clue what he is talking about also doesn't believe in magic. The relationship that develops between them is really interesting and a great read and then they discover that they are fated as mates. Lizzy obviously freaked out by this asserts her independence both from him and her aunt who happens to be high priestess of the family coven of witches.
This is where the book deviates and loses its magic. There has been building up about a historical war between the vampires and witches that is suddenly dropped with no further development. The biggest dissapointment though is plot that had been built through the first two thirds of the story about some danger to Lizzy and the vampires and the need for her to be protected when bam Lizzy and Killian have lots of spectacular sex, danger forgotten apparently and he tries to be noble and send her away to live her dream even though it may kill him. This to me felt like a huge chunk of the story had either been edited out or a second writer took over. The magical story building between the witches and vampires along with Killian and lizzy was just ended when the sex scenes started and that's when it went from great story to bonk fest. A few pages at the end setting up the next book and the story of the next character is unfortunately not enough to get me to read as this book left me feeling unsatisfied and that it was unfinished.

Ohhh this was bad. I read the whole book without DNFing it just because I was fascinated by this train wreck of a book. I can see that the author tried really hard to create a strong female lead who needs no man and a male lead whose hopeless without his woman, but boyyyyy this was a bad book.
Killian is not just overbearing and possessive like most vampires I've read about, he's a stalker, a maniac, his behaviour is unhealthy and toxic. I liked that Lizzy didn't believe in any of the magic and the vampires and didn't want to be with Killian for the whole book, but she did fuck him senseless... If you don't want him anywhere near you because he's just so MUCH then you also shouldn't be feeling very inclined to fuck him...
This book didn't make any sense at all. The romance was bad, there was no chemistry whatsoever. The side characters were awful. There was waaaay too much infodumping, but the important information was never given. The plot is just crap... Yeah, it's gonna be 1,5 stars for this disaster.
Night of the Vampire is the first book I read from this Author. I loved this book and it's an exciting story. This is a well written paranormal romance with strong characters in Killian and Lizzy. Lizzy is a Witch, but she doesn't know and Killian is an Vampire and needs her help for saving a friend. How will this going on?? The character are enjoyable and have a strong connection. The story is well flowing and keeps you interested so I was glued to the pages till the end and would highly recommend this book.

This is the first book I've ever read by this author and I thoroughly enjoyed it 😃. As I was reading it though I realized that there must be more books written before and I was right 😉. So, now I'm going to start reading that beginning series and I hope that it's as good as this one 😊. Thanks L.E. I'll be checking out the beginning series AND reading the rest of this one. Can't wait 🤓.

I wanted so badly to like Night of the Vampire. It was a slog getting through the first 20%, and then the second 20%... and then the story sort of gets going. Killian is likeable. The witches [all of them] not so much. Our FMC is unaware of her family's history as witches, and completely unaware [or maybe not] of the magic she herself carries. The vampires and witches are apparently mortal [ha] enemies with a barely-there truce of sorts in New Orleans... where voodoo shops are a thing, and the tourists go for them. The vampire coven has cleaned up it's act & reputation by running a "club" where the vamps strip and then the customers pay them to be taken advantage of... which they conveniently forget, with the vamp ability to wipe their memories. Win-win-win for everyone, unless you like a story that doesn't involve any of your lead characters getting routinely "handled" and then returning the favor, with strangers.
Also, it was terribly difficult to feel the maturity of the vampires or witches, in book 1... it became clearer to me as I get through book 2, but they read as older teens to me in book 1.
Then there's the fog of the larger story. Other than the V-vs-W issue, I'm not quite sure what the overarching story is supposed to be.
Then there's the romance that took forever to begin, then sort of lands, then... what??? It felt rushed and incomplete, and I have SO many questions about just this first couple.
But for me the pacing was too slow, for too long, and then too fast... and the crisis was too too too dark, spiritually speaking, for me to enjoy.
As I mentioned, I am already into book 2. I have every expectation that it will be an improvement, and I truly hope it is.
This paranormal vampire–witch romance starts off strong. The plot builds slowly and steadily, and for the first part of the book you really feel like you're settling into a richer paranormal world. There’s mystery, tension, and that delicious “they’re circling each other but won’t admit it” feeling. To be honest, for quite a while it doesn’t even read like a romance — more like a paranormal intrigue with a simmering undercurrent.
And then… flip a switch. The plot suddenly vanishes, the mood shifts, and we go from “slow burn with promise” to “surprise! it’s all spice now.” It feels abrupt — almost as if a completely different author picked up the manuscript mid-chapter. The romance jumps from hesitant attraction to full on steam in an instant, and every thread of plot that had been carefully laid out gets tossed out the window in favor of heat.
The result? A book that feels like two stories spliced together: one with depth and potential, and one that’s a straight shot of spice without much else to support it.
If you love paranormal romance but don’t mind sudden tonal shifts and plotlines that evaporate once the characters get spicy, you might enjoy this ride. For me, it was interesting…but also confusing. A lot of potential, but the execution left me scratching my head.

Lizzy is special and the moment Killian met her, something clicked. Killian is a little dark, a bad boy, has issues but oh so sexy and very caring and protective of his Vampire clan.
The story is full of mystery, sizzle, chemistry, wonderful characters and secrets that are about to be exposed.
Lizzy is thrown into a world she never knew, her connection with Killian is raw and passionate but she doesn’t want to be caged, and he’ll have to work to get this independent woman.
An entertaining storyline full of loyalty, family, lots of sizzle and so much more, you won’t be able to put it down.

First of all, just to address the elephant in the room- the male stripper thing was cringey as fuck. That one scene where he’s giving her a “private dance” made me want to crawl inside a hole and die. So, we’re just going to ignore that.
Otherwise… the world-building in this was surprisingly intriguing. The side characters added some interest, too. The romance was not necessarily my all-time fave- I didn’t think there was a ton of development outside of him drinking her blood or whatever. Even so, I am interested in reading the next one.
Book 1 of the Deathless Night-Into the Dark series and it starts things off with a bang!
The plot was intriguing, exciting and deliciously steamy. World building was excellent and expertly drawn. The characters drove the storyline and they were so very well written and complex and complicated and absolutely perfect together. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend

This is the first entry in the Deathless Night - Into the Dark series and follows Killian, a centuries old vampire, and his obsession for Lizzy, his fated mate. Loved the setting and story building plus the characters are fantastic. We're introduced to a few other vampires that I hope to read the stories of. Just the right amount of intrigue, drama, danger, spice, and love, plus a HEA make this a great start to the series.

This is the first time I've read anything from this Author and I found myself utterly intrigued! I found the setting, characters and story line addictive. It was hard to put down. If you're a lover of the paranormal then you will enjoy this book and you'll be hooked like me wanting more! Looking forward to reading more from this Author!
what a fantastic start to a new spin-off series that has appearances from other characters in the Deathless Night series . I love vampires who accidentally find their fated mates, but the kicker is that they just happen to be witches, and Vamps and Witches don't mix . throw in an evil Djin, and all hell break loose . I'm looking forward to reading more.
Killian and Lizzy's relationship make this story a good one. A witch that is unaware, that she is a witch, and a vampire in need of her help. I really love that it is set in New Orleans, a place that I dream of. I am excited for more of this series! I Loved It!!! I Recommend!! No Spoilers!.

The first book in the Deathless Night - Into the Dark series a well written story that kept me turning page. I want to read more in this series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
They were honest. She didn't want to stay. She had dreams. His dreams are of his mate. Who he finds doesn't want to stay. She doesn't believe she is what her aunt says she is. Once she was gone. She realizes what her mate sacrificed to let her go. Happy reading
...okay that's an understatement!!! Learning she is a witch is just a small part of the journey you are taken on in this tale. Vampires, secrets, heat, dark magic, mystery and love intertwine into a magical story and one you won't want to end...
