Review

The Second Chance by Suhas Inamdar is a very interesting novel which touches the grey areas of Professional ethics and morals which has always been ignored or grazed upon slightly. This book will instill professional ethics and morals in the hearts and minds of the readers very strongly and deeply. And it has the capacity to change the way in which we look at certain issues.

Suhas Inamdar’s The Second Chance is a story of three friends Arvind, Vinod and Shekhar who are Lawyer, Journalist and a doctor by profession respectively. They all march towards their respective career path in the dream of bringing about a change and an impact in the society. Along the way, they all lost their way and purpose and get trapped into deceit, unethical and immoral path in their professional life. These unethical and immoral methods ultimately make them gain name and fame and money but is it righteous ? will it be forever ? will they change or continue their unethical journey ? That’s the story-line of this book.

The story starts from the teenage years of the friends to the present where they all have a commendable career of their own. This detailed introduction helped the readers understand the characters tad too very well. The author had shown each character’s shift from being a determinant teenager to accomplishing the dream career to falling into the trap of unethical path. So the change in every character was detail and clear, nothing was too drastic or unreasonable. This detailed explanation made the readers to understand the characters and their choices much better.

For about the fifty percent of the book certain incidents was quite too very similar and slightly repetitive. Just when the readers get used to the pace and exercise of the book, suddenly the book took an ultimate shift to a totally different direction. The second half of the book was more interesting and fast pacing. At certain point of time, the book was completely unpredictable.

There were couple of things which were so beautifully written, for example, the lead characters take a trip to Kedarnath and the way the author had described the entire trip and the experience was written down tremendously. The courtroom scenes were fast moving and engaging. There were lot of spiritual substance were added to the book and it was written in a way even a non-believer would be moved and enlightened by it.

All the incidents, issues and situations portrayed in the book felt very relevant and akin. Particularly during this period of time, the details provided about each and every professional field was completely relatable and the way the author had tweaked the reality for the purpose of the plot was brilliant.

My Views

The beginning of the book was quite slow and kind of repetitive but the second half of the book was mind-blowing-ly fast and amazing. The way the author had named certain characters in the book peaked my curiosity and I really loved the way he had use it.

Obviously, I had some logical issues here and there, the rational part of my mind was screaming in high pitch at certain instance but the intend and the plot of the book was wonderful and I conveniently chose to ignore it.

This book was like a wake up call. It was overflowing with lot moral and ethical values, if a person follow all these, they would definitely reach greater heights. I really liked and enjoyed this book. I always believe a book will show up to us only at the right time and like wise, this book happened to me at the right time and I hope it will help me keep my conscience alive throughout my professional life. Thank you Mr. Suhas Inamdar for coming up with such new and wonderful idea for the book.

My rating for this book would be 3.8 out of 5 stars

I would recommend this book to people who want to learn and inculcate some solid values from a book. If you are someone who like to read books with some moral and ethical values then this book would be the absolute match for you guys.

Happy Reading Folks!!

How far will their greed take them?
Arvind, Vinod and Shekhar are three friends fresh out of school full of dreams of a bright career in their future. The three of them set out in different fields, one of journalism, one of law and the other of medicine. Once they finish their studies they realise it isn’t as easy to get to the top as it seemed. But they are determined to take any road, be it the unethical and immoral one to get where they want to be. Will this path lead them to success or will they redeem themselves before it’s too late?
.
This one is written in third person, alternating between the life of the trio to make the story move in sync. The story highlights the three professions i.e lawyer, journalist and doctor chose by them showing it’s scope, the work environment and the hardships one would face if they were to go in that field along with the corruption that exists which makes it hard to make an honest living for some.
.
Author has done good research and given a detailed view to the readers of how ambitions sometimes turn into greed and how blind one becomes in their haste to make money and get social recognition. The thought process of the trio, how they wished to contribute to the country’s welfare but somewhere along the way lost the spark, the circumstances that led them there, the people who influenced them and made a crime look normal practice.
.
I enjoyed the writing and it successfully kept my interest. I also appreciated even though I had predicted the twist that came in the end.

The Second Chance by Suhas Imandar is the second book I have read of this author.
The book meticulously starts with a description of the early life of three friends, who just cleared their board exams with flying colours.
The book is all about the journey of those three friends, how they evolved from determined young men to corrupt citizens and then went through the showers of realisation of wrong and right.

I am in awe with the amount of inside information I got about doctors, lawyers and media. The homework and research was the main thing that got me going till the last. Like we all know corruption exists in these fields, but the book revealed those ill deeds to the core!

The second thing I liked the most about the book is how close it is to reality and general human behaviour. No human is born or dreams to be bad or evil, but time turns them, forcing them to malpractice if not taken caution.

Though at some point the author stretched the matter, which could have been avoided.

I was kinda hoping for some action in the end, but the way the events turned out were quite surprising.

The values of faith, determination, and a need to screen what is wrong or right is beautifully presented throughout the book

Title: The Second Chance
Author: Suhas Inamdar
This is a story about three friends living in the same colony. Their names are Shekhar Bhatia, Vinod Gupta, and Arvind Malhotra. The story starts with a party that has been held to felicitate these three on securing good marks in their final year of school. They are asked to speak about the careers they want to take. Ultimately according to their aspirations, Shekhar becomes a Doctor, Vinod a Journalist, and Arvind, a Lawyer.
As promised to their favourite teacher, they start out on their career paths, with truth and honesty. However, they find mediocre or little success in their honest paths. Gradually they flow with the stream and turn to a few dishonest means, and become quite successful. There comes a point of time in their life, where they realise that whatever they have been doing is not right.
They meet one day and decide to mend their ways. For that they decide to start their new lives by visiting the Kedarnath shrine. However life had something else in store for them, and before they reach Kedarnath, they are stuck in a cloudburst, and have to fight for survival.
This story is about whether life will give them a second chance. It is a good book to read, and captures your interest till the end. A Bollywood plot and interesting read.

The Second Chance follows the life of three childhood friends aspiring to excel in their careers.
Shekhar aspires to be a doctor, Aravind aspires to be a lawyer and Vinod aspires to be a journalist. At the young age of 16, they have embarked on this journey. With their hardworking nature, they start to grow in their respective career paths but with this growth, even their greed grows which makes them indulge in unscrupulous acts. They are at the peak of their career when few wise words from their school teacher makes them pause and introspect their activities. They decide to turn into a new leaf. However fate has other plans for them and it meets them in the form of a powerful politician who has framed Dr. Shekhar for a murder. How will the three friends overcome this hurdle?

I enjoyed reading this book from the beginning. It was fast paced and the day to day activities in the respective professions was well written. The language was simple and clear. I enjoyed reading Aravind's adventures in the court. The writing was descriptive. The ending was expected. However, I felt the last two pages to be highly philosophical which somehow didn't match the rest of the book.

I am going to give this book a 4/5.

This narrative discusses our profession's ethical obligations. This book contains the critical thoughts our Indian parents had when we were choosing our occupations. I am aware that many Indian children struggle with that . This book presents a sour view on life. Without hesitation, it describes every unethical conduct that is widely used in the modern society.
The three pals Arvind, Vinod, and Shekhar are where the narrative began. These three pals placed first in their class in the tenth grade. Their family plans a fantastic celebration.  In this celebration they questioned partygoers about their intended careers. They opt to become journalists, doctors and lawyer. This narrative details the various ways in which lawyers conveniently distort the facts in court, the ways in which some doctors rob their patients blind, and the ways in which a journalist reveals the false things to public. The current concern is whether these three young people will succeed in pursuing a career in their preferred sector. And if they succeeded, either they were honest in their work or they had been involved with a corrupt system. This narrative reveals the true nature of our society's professional corruption.

What is your passion?
If I am not false you might had that feeling of being very successful in specific field one day and exploring things like no one else have ever done and you will impose changes in the system by purification in the system after eliminating the corrupt culture. You must have had the thought of being the most ethical person working in that field.
THE SECOND CHANCE is a story of three friends who complete days class 10 and in a grand party at community hall they express what they aspire to become after a small discuss among themselves. They complete education in their aspired field despite of being opposed by parents in the beginning.
Huh!! Typical Indian parents love only engineering and Medical which have least struggle in working and more earnings.
So, read out the complete book to find out if. Three friends would continue to remain on ethical grounds while working or they just settle down with work politics and challenges for their safe and comfort zone.
