This is the final book of 12, in a long series of steampunk adventure books. Set in a magical fantasy version of the Victorian era, the Clockwork Twist series follows an unassuming and introverted clockmaker from London, named Twist. When a clockwork princess needs his help, Twist find himself on an adventures around the world surrounded by airship pirates, secret societies, treasure hunters, vampires, dragons, magical kitsune, and even a genie or two. Are you all caught up?
The world is hanging by a thread. Aden has ordered Twist's and Jonas's execution, and fae are on their heals. Now Twist might be the only one who can save his friends and the rest of the world.
It's been a long road. Twist has gone from an unassuming clockmaker to a heroic adventurer and dragon slayer. He's gone from being a lonely orphan to a man with a large and loving family, a dotting fiancee, a friend as dear as a brother. Gone are the days of silence and soot under the London rain, now that Twist spends his days crossing the world with magical beings, off on grand adventures.
Along the way, things have also changed from calm, to dire. Evil fairies want Twist's death, and they will stop at nothing to have it. They have conscripted the Rooks into service, and they are now threatening every single person that Twist holds dear. His friends and family tell him that they will brave the dangers and live the rest of their lives in hiding for his sake, but Twist can't bear to let them all be exiled from their own happiness and freedom.
The only people who still might be able to stop the fae once and for all, freeing Twist and his friends forever, are the mysterious race of clockwork Atlanteans who have been in hiding for a thousand years. Twist, however, happens to have found their hiding place, by accident. They made him promise to keep them secret and to never return, but now has no choice but to break his word and go to ask for their help.
The 12th and final book in the fantastical steampunk adventure series which stole my heart. I do believe this is the best series I have read by far this year, and I highly recommend this to all readers who enjoy fantasy and adventure and love to read about the fae, djinn, kitsune, dragons, pirates, warlocks and witches and charismatic characters such as Twist, Jonas and Myra, who endear themselves to them. In this book our group of heroes are all set on closing the door to fairy and killing off Jack Frost, however they know that this could also mean the death of Twist and Jonas the two halves of that evil fae. The Atlantaeans had promised to help them end what they had started if they could harness the help of the one remaining dragon and the djinn who accompanied him, so they went in search of Zephyrin and Hala and once these accepted to help, the adventure was on. However something happened which was unexpected and this threw all the responsibility onto Twist. He now held the whole of Jack Frost inside him, and both he and Jonas had lost their sight. This caused a rift between the friends, as Twist was adamant he would still go ahead with the plan to close down fairy. This was a most exciting and terrifying book as both Jonas and Myra and all Twist's family and friends were driven crazy fearing for his life. I love the perfect ending which definitely gave us, the readers total closure and such a satisfying and happy ending. Enjoy this series, I know I did!
I've finally finished reading all 12 books in the Clockwork Twist series and I have thoroughly enjoyed all of them. I kind of anticipated one or two things that happened in this last book, but it didn't spoil it for me at all. Whilst this kind of book may not be for everyone, it's the kind of thing I enjoy - full of derring-do, fighting with dragons, mythical creatures and evil fae. Fantasy pure and simple. They must be read in order, or confusion will result. Closure is the appropriate title for this, book 12. There is a kind of moral to the whole story that I'm not sure the author intended - if you're brave enough the leave your comfort zone, however safe it feels, you never know what you'll be capable of until you face the unexpected head on
I am saddened that this story is over, and absolutely satisfied that it is over. This series takes place for about a year. The orphan Mc with a gift of seeing damage of anything he touches, including people, who becomes a adventurous person was fantastic story series.
So worth reading! I was wrapped up in their adventure throughout all of the books. I love all of the characters. Had moments of sadness (won't spoil anything) - excite don't happiness. Great ending though sad that it's over. Thanks Emily Thompson for creating such a wonderful adventure!
I read all 12 quirky, inventive and fun Twist books. I enjoyed, every one. Steampunk, adventure and lots of laughs. Definitely plenty of feel good, factor. For those of us who don't believe crying into your tea, signals a good read.
I am going to miss Twist, Myra, Jonas and all their friends. This has been a fun adventure, just simple fun. Adventures, tension, friendships, found family, saving the world, magic, humanity; it had it all. Closure is a perfect title for this.
There were many loose ends that needed to be wrapped up. The exciting climax does a marvelous job fitting all the loose pieces together. This is a fantastic series.
Loved getting to know the characters, meeting all their magical friends, and going on all the adventures with them. I am now at a loss after 12 books, lol...
