Nineteen-year-old Mercy Habernackle is a witch gone off the rails. Causing problems with the law in her hometown, she’s faced with two options. Go to a correctional institution or get shipped off to witch boarding school, or as her mother prefers to call it, finishing school. Choosing the latter, Mercy’s mother, Linda, drives her daughter cross-country to the Paranormal Institute for Witches, situated high in the beautiful Appalachian Mountains in cozy, Aspen Falls, Pennsylvania.
Upon arrival, Mercy is faced with cheerful smiles, friendly people, and a sticky sweet roommate who has turned their dorm room into an advertisement for the Pottery Barn. Mercy had hoped her fellow witches would be more like her, dark, dreary, and a little bit self-destructive.
When the murder of a local teenager takes place on the first day of class, Sorceress Stone, headmistress of the college for wayward witches, takes the class on a consulting job to help the Aspen Falls Police Department solve the murder. Mercy and her mismatched classmates find themselves in the heart of the murder investigation and when the body of the murder victim suddenly goes missing, Mercy must put aside her feelings of resentment about her gift and put her paranormal abilities to good use.

Witch Degrees of Separation – Book 3
The first six weeks of witch college has been emotionally draining and physically exhausting for Mercy Habernackle. All she wants is a break.

I really enjoyed reading this set. It's lighthearted and fun, but still involves the mysteries behind murder and magic gone awry. It mainly involves the witch squad, a group of young witches attending classes at a witch university. I'd recommend this set for fans of witches, mystery and college life experiences.
New class of witches get thrown into a murder first class of school!
The first day if school the new freshman class of witches get invited to join a murder investigation. This starts a friendship and bond that starts to be called the Witch Squad. It consists on five girls or young witches just learning their powers and how to handle them. There is Mercy, the leader, who can see and talk to ghosts. Jax, pixy, not sure of her powers yet,but have to be something. Holly, sexpot, but she has visions. Sweets, voluptuous, but like to do potions, and cook and eat, and eat.then their is Alba the strength in the group. She does telekineses, and mind reading, and fire, and is learning other things. In fact they are all learning things very fast. They keep running into murders and solving them. And getting closer to each other and learning about each other and their families. Mercy has family that runs throughout the series and involves all the girls in the stories. Great reads. Well written. Murders, dating, and feuds keeps you interested from first page till last and although each is stand alone the stories also fit together. Can’t help liking everyone or hating the bad guys or wanting to like the bad guys. Looking forward to next books. .
The Witch Squad continues to entertain and surprise!
I got the boxed set of the first three books even though I've already read and reviewed the first book. The Witch Squad is so busy with mysteries, murders and suspicious deaths that it's no wonder we never actually see them in class! The student witches do go to class, as they are often doing homework after dinner. One class they did take together with us was broomstick flying, which they mastered with varying degrees of success. Broomstick flying develops into a nasty case of a deadly accident or is it another murder? You have to keep reading and there is a lot to keep up with! I'm about to get the second boxed set of books four through six! And I think there are more books after that! Good! :)
Mercy Habernackle, goes to witch college with a chip on her shoulder. A slight badass, don't bother me personality, her roommate Jax, is dressed like a super cute witch, complete with striped tights and a witches pointed hat and shoes. A baking matchmaker named Sweets, a busty blonde named Holly, and a smart ass from Jersey named Alba. Read how they become the witch squad. So enjoyable, well written, I could not out these books down. Read and enjoy!
First three books in one set. Each is a standalone. The mysteries take place at a paranormal college. The characters are students at the onset of adulthood. All the characters are likeable. They each have their own quirks. They can be immature. The mysteries were interesting. These first three stories take place in the first semester before Thanksgiving. I enjoyed reading and listening to the set.
This is a fun series and the 3 books I have read so far have at some point in the stories have made me laugh out loud. The characters are engaging and so very likeable. The stories are good and the little winks to Harry Potter are fun. I won't mention any. I want you the reader to find them yourself. Looking forward to reading more of this series.
Before college, these girls were outcast and bullied. Now they found each other, form a sorority, and help the local police solve cases. Some of them even found love. It will be interesting to finish the whole series. I am curious how this Witch Squad grows in the series.
These three stories were so much fun to read. They move quickly. The main characters are likable and relatable. The main story is the relationship between the characters. The mystery parts help to bring the Witch Squad together. I look forward to reading more books in this series.
I absolutely loved these three books! They reminded me of Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Charmed, and Harry Potter. The movie references were great as well. Jacks and Merci are my favorite characters. M.Z. Andrews definitely keeps you on your toes. One minute I think I know who did it and the next thing I realize is that I’m wrong. I can’t wait to see what the rest of the series brings.

I really enjoyed all three books very much. They were full of mystery, humor, and relationship challenges. Makes me want to go to witch academy! Will be reading the rest of this writer's series of books very soon.
Young characters, inconsistent behaviors and thinking. The main character jumps to conclusions and adamantly insists she's correct... Until she has the rest of the info and then should apologize.
Thank you for the laughter, the tears and the questions. Truly an enjoyable time. In fact I found it hard to put these books down to do anything else. Thanks for the escape!
I read book 1 as a separate purchase, and posted a review for that book. I liked it but felt the book needed more character development. I have since read the entire series, 12 or 13 books, I do not remember now. More character development has come out gradually through the books, until book 5 was all about the characters past, present, and future. I felt like I really knew them then. Each book has a great mystery with lots of surprises and subplots.
I am an adult and read this just to explore. It was Ok. Manageable . However i feel for a young adult say 10-14 age this may be a rather fun read. Definitely something your 12 yr old can read as i didn't find anything objectionable in it. My 12 year old read it and cant get enough of the series. It is a typical girls series like the age old Enid Blyton concept of a bunch of kids thrown together and solving mysteries. It has mystery, drama, magic and it is engaging enough to keep the kids going back for the next book and the next. The fact that the entire 7 books series is available on kindle unlimited also helps
