The UnexplainedMount St. Helens is set to erupt again, and a man is found murdered on the volcano’s slopes with all clues pointing to Bigfoot as the culprit. Alarmed at the direction the case is taking, FBI Agent Dan Fisher brings in a skeptic to help separate the facts from the fiction.
Explained
Steve Hanson is an introvert who prefers the seclusion of his home to facing the outside world. But Agent Fisher’s request is too amazing to pass up, and would make a remarkable entry into Hanson’s blog, The Unexplained, Explained. It also helps his interest when he realizes that Hawaiian volcanologist Makani Batemen is part of the investigation.
But something is working against them, and Hanson and Makani find themselves threatened by whoever, or whatever, is behind the killing. Adding to the mystery, local entrepreneur Wayne Kesler, a billionaire with his own Search for Extra-terrestrial Life program, has taken an interest in them. While Agent Fisher leads the search to find a more mundane answer to the murder, Bigfoot attacks Hanson and Makani. Hanson’s beliefs are further challenged when he witnesses a UFO in the night sky.
With the volcano ready to explode and time running out, Hanson and Makani realize that they are in a fight for their lives. And before they can reveal the truth they will have to face off against the U.S. military’s most advanced weapon to stop a plot that could tear the nation apart, and change the balance of world power, forever.
UFO is book #1 of the Steve Hanson The Unexplained, Explained thriller series.
Award-winning author Matt Andrus is an enthusiast of the weird and unusual. As a child growing up in the 1970s, he was drawn to books and documentaries detailing paranormal events such as The Bermuda Triangle or creatures such as the Loch Ness Monster and Sasquatch. And though evidence to explain away these classic mysteries continues to surface, he feels that behind each one, there is still an adventure to be had. To that end, his The Unexplained, Explained series is designed to both inform and entertain with vivid storytelling. He currently resides in the Pacific Northwest. Great read! Don't pass this up as just another flying saucer book...it's much more than that.
Very engaging! Great mix of history regarding urban lore. Being from the PNW, it was very easy to step into the pages of this book and revisit places I've been and areas where I still live. Main haracters are relatable, relevant, comedic .... I was rooting for them the entire time!
With a mix of history, legend, and thriller, Matt Andrus has created a phenomenal, hard-to-put-down book. I was caught up from page one, and thoroughly enjoyed this read from beginning to end. I'll be looking for more from this author.
Super fun book, love the history mixed in with conspiracy and adventure. Main character is very likeable and easy to root for, even with the cheesy one liners. :) Quick read with some laugh out loud moments mixed in.
Not what I was expecting but an excellent read, good story filled with lots of UFO/Bigfoot lore over the years, develops into a pretty good thriller with plenty of action, I finished this in two days as it had me riveted. Well worth a read
