Iris is heir to the throne of Crempton and is without a husband. Passed from suitor to suitor, Iris is forced to find a capable man to help her rule, when she would rather sit at the castle and read stories to her sisters. But when Iris and her sisters are abandoned on their way to meet another suitor, they run into a man who is both charming and mysterious as he invites them to his home. Fighting feelings of her past and terrors of the future, Iris tries to take care of her sisters as they uncover more and more secrets about the man, his manor, and their own kingdom.
This book is so easy to read and I found it delightful! It's written for tween/teens. However, I am an adult and I really enjoyed it. It has mystery and intrigue! I couldn't put it down. Usually it takes me a year to read a book. This one took a few days.
This story was very interesting and cute and I felt that it was appropriate for a middle grade audience up until the last few chapters that were filled with a little gory violence and scary themes. So I don't think I'll have my 12 year old read it after all for now.
The story definitely needs to be edited. There were misspelled words and words that were out of place. The book layout is in need of help as well. Chapters start at any part of a page and there are no page numbers. I am pretty sure that the book was published independently which explains these issues.
The story itself has a lot of work needed but I also understand that due to the age of the author. But as I said earlier, the book plot and story are very interesting and could make a great series with a little help.
