The Christmas Heist

Can an eight-year-old remind people what Christmas is all about?

Christmas is on the horizon, but Mattie Hendsley sees only despair and weariness in those all around him. People seem to have forgotten the true meaning of Christmas, including his mother.

Mattie resolves to do something about it.

He embarks on a journey to bring a bit of joy to those who need it most. With the help of two friends, he searches out people in need of a Christmas miracle. His list includes his own struggling mother, an aged janitor, and a shy librarian.

When Mattie sends an innocent letter to the mayor, it becomes the catalyst Mattie needs to help his plan succeed.

While Mattie's antics will bring a smile to your face, it will also leave the reader wondering how an eight-year-old can restore the long-missing joy to Christmas.

This heartwarming story will remind you of the true meaning of Christmas-a time for giving, rather than getting.

Warming the Heart

What a special way to remember what Christmas is about. From the innocence of children the best of sermons can be delivered.

Can 8 year old Mattie find real joy and meaning in Christmas for those he loves and cares about?

Mattie’s mom is worried about her job, his best friend’s parents are fighting, the school janitor is old and needs help, the librarian needs courage, the new boy in class needs friends and the needs just keep coming! As far as Mattie can see, everyone is missing the point of Christmas - quite literally and he and his friends have an elaborate plan to fix the problem for EVERYONE❗️

Author, Kimberly Hammer, has created a fun filled story that’s perfect for boys, girls, young and old, family reading or independent fare. “The Christmas Heist” is a good time for anyone able to read it at anytime. The message is positive, the motivation is pure and honest and the antics are humorous, heartfelt and sweet.

Altho’ the main character is an 8 year old, this is not a childish book; I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was so nice to see children being respectful and adults paying attention to their children. Hammer writes with a good mix of prose and dialogue. She’s able to give readers an insightful experience with this extraordinary 8 year old hero, his tho’ts, emotions and dreams. We can feel his anticipation, fear and love as the time until Christmas Day ticks down; it’s deliciously intense.

“The Christmas Heist” is only .99 for a Kindle copy. The chapters are a good length for individual reading units or if you need really short periods, they are broken down 2-3 times into smaller parts of 5-8 minutes each. Excellent for family reading, kid’s book clubs or light seasonal fare; lots of discussion points in this one📚

This is a heart warming story of a young boy who seeks the real meaning of Christmas. There must be more than just Santa and presents. As he enlists the help of friends to pull off the heist, things don’t go according plan, but be on the look out for good things to happen. A great story to read around a warm cozy fire or on a winter day.

What a lovely story. Very relevant to this year, 2020, especially. Although mainly about 8 year old children, it is not a children's story. We all need to remember that Christmas is about celebrating Christ's birth. Also themes in the book are thinking of what other people need and finding ways to help them.

Wonderful Christmas Story

This story of Mattie and his family and friends touches the heart as I read it a few days before Christmas 2020. We all know what kind of year 2020 was. Would we all realize as Mattie did what Christmas is really all about.
