Ember McNair faces her most furr-midable challenge yet!
Ember should have known that after she tried to help her friend Kathy O’Connell get the courage she needed to leave her boyfriend, Steve Smits (noted mean food critic and notorious philanderer), that things would blow up in her face.
Now Kathy is implicated in a murder charge after Steve is found dead after their conversation. It’s going to take everything that Ember’s spell book has to investigate this murder. Luckily, she’ll have the help of her Sun Tzu quoting feline familiar, Kali. And lets not forget Cedric, her handsome wolf shifter sheriff fiancé.
All this would be a lot but wait there’s more! Ember and Cedric have figured out that someone has erased her memory. Specifically of her sister, Ashley. Why would they erase her memory and is the mysterious woman that Cedric has found really Ember’s long-lost sister? Does she even want to be found?
3.5 stars Murder and a missing sister I really like the characters, but the murder mystery is not very strong. But I'm really curious about the other mystery. The one that binds the different books in this series. The one that makes you want to keep reading. The one about the missing sister. This is an entertaining supernatural cozy mystery series. A great cast of characters and a unique and fun entertaining storyline. Amber is a witch in a small town in Louisiana. She owns a local pub/café. The restaurant has been in her family for generations and she is just the latest owner. She has a cat familiar that lives with her hey best friend who is a bat shifter and her fiancé the local sheriff is a wolf shifter. There are a few other different types of supernatural living around the town as well as humans. There are also a few random girls here and there. Including one ancestor of Amber‘s family. Who comes around and helps her out once in a while. She has a knack for figuring out crimes and murders etc. She helps her fiancé the sheriff investigate and saw these crimes. A very entertaining series. Check it out
Another murder and this time it is the married critic that her best friend dated and just dumped, making her a prime target. He was a nasty man, unfaithful, into drugs and a lot of other stuff. Ember, Cedric, and Kali need to figure this out pronto, and the banter starts flying. Cedric is the werewolf sheriff fiancée of Ember and in charge. Kali is the familiar that helps Ember with everything in her life, including watching for clues. The characters are unique and fun and the banter keeps them light hearted. The suspense of who did this murder and why takes a few twists and turns before it all comes together. The ending is great and will be many smiles.

Kathy is a dear friend to Ember. Her bad taste in men includes Stephen, a married restaurant critic
With the encouragement of Ember and friends, Kathy finally decides to break things off with Stephen. Things get very uncomfortable for Kathy and her staff when ill befalls him.
With his drug dealing past, did Stephen suffer from the efforts of his wife? Former clients? Restaurants her critiqued?
Little love lost as Ember and Cedric try to solve the case, discover the truth about her sister and work towards a wedding

Ember McNair is trying to get her friend, Kathy O’Connell, to finally leave her married boyfriend, Steve Smits. The man is disliked, as he is a nasty food critic and an unfaithful spouse! When Kathy gets her courage to break up with him, Steve is found dead and Kathy is implicated in the crime. Ember, her familiar Kali, and Cedric, her handsome wolf shifter sheriff fiancé, are on the case. Was this revenge for a bad critique of a restaurant? Was his wife, Melinda, finally sick of his actions? And what’s going on with Ember’s sister, Ashley – is she really who she says she is?
Grab your copy and gather up the clues for this one!
Ember becomes involved in another murder, when one of her friends, Kathy, becomes a suspect in murdering her former lover. That she had broken off with him the night of his murder and he was poisoned probably at her restaurant does not make it any less suspect. Ember and her crew of friends (including her fiancé, the local sheriff) work their magic - quite literally. A light cozy, and quite predictable, but entertaining. Ember is a witch who owns a pub in a small town. When a food critic dies and a friend is a suspect, Ember and her cat familiar, along with her friend (A bat shifter) investigate. With their help, she does an Agatha Christie type reveal of the murderer. I didn't like that her sheriff fiance was there while she solved his case for him. And, in the ARC I read, an addict in recovery has a beer which is a no-one. This was the first book I've read in this series but I was able to read it as a standalone. I would like to read others in this series.
Ember must help Kathy clear her name and reputation from murder. With Kali and Cedric, Ember searches for the killer of that horrid man. Also, a larger mystery looms about her sister. Sudden Paws is a solid mystery with great characters. I like the relationship between Ember and Cedric and especially love the witty dialog with Kali.

This is a shift-changer/paranormal story. When Ember tried to help her friend left her boyfriend, the boyfriend ends up dead and she is implicated in a murder charge. No, Steve wasn't a nice man, but Ember and Kathy didn't murder him. But when Ember's own memory is erased well that just complicates things. Another great book by this author. This is the second book in this series that I have read and both were great. The next one involves her sister and I cant wait to read it

Incredible book! I love these characters and the storylines in every book of this series. But the ending of this one actually left me saying, ‘Wow’! It was just fantastic!

Amazing! I did not feel bad for the dead person this time around, sadly. Nor did I feel really bad for the killer. I am ecstatic that Ember has finally been able to contact her long lost sister! I cannot wait to see what happens next! And I can't wait for the wedding!
I have to say that this book is a continuation with the first four with loads of excitement and mystery. The people in the book are great friends y. It’s a must read.
Another fun murder mystery. Her sleuthing in more in the open now and makes it not quite as fun. But the friendships are great and the BIG mystery is coming together.
Really good twisted storyline!! And finally some answers!! I really like this series and I just love these characters. I can’t wait to read the next story!!
Kathy, who owns Kathy's Korner cafe and diner, finally decides to break it off with Steve Smits. Steve is slimy, manipulative and married but when he is found dead after having had dinner at the diner, no-one in town is prepared to eat at Kathy's anymore. Especially when Steve's ex goes around telling everyone that Kathy had murdered him.
I cannot help but feel sorry for Kathy; when she finally gets her courage up to break it off, everything goes pear shaped. But I feel most for Randy, the brilliant young cook-ex-druggie who prepared the dish that Steve had. Good read, full of mystery and fun. Love Kali, the familiar and Cedric, strong, supportive and handsome - sigh! where was he was I was available?! Lucky Ember.
