From REMINGTON KANE, the author of THE TAKEN! SERIES TO SERVE AND PROTECT - A Tanner Novel - Book 39
Tanner agrees to be an auxiliary cop during Stark’s Fall Festival. When serious trouble arises, it’s up to Deputy Cody Parker to deal out law and order.
Remington Kane is an American author that writes action-packed thrillers. The author might be unfamiliar to some people because Remington Kane is actually a pseudonym for Donald Wells.
Donald Wells has garnered a reputation for writing darker and somewhat serious novels about killers. The author was born in New Jersey. He never really left and has since made a home there. Like most of his peers, Donald Wells was an avid reader as a child.
He spent many an hour devouring every book he came across. And it wasn’t long before he began to yearn for the chance to write. Like many aspiring authors, Donald Wells knew he had the capacity to tell stories. However, he was a little hesitant to venture into such uncharted waters, not only because he didn’t know where to start with regards to writing a book but also because he didn’t have confidence in his own ability to produce compelling fiction.
Again, like most notable authors, Donald meandered about for a while. Rather than going into publishing the first chance he got, Donald tried his hand at various odd jobs. He worked as an insurance salesman, a Real Estate Sales person, and even a Retail manager.
The jobs, though seemingly meaningless in the grand scheme of things, did wonders for the author’s writing capabilities. Whether he was driving trucks or cleaning floors, Donald gained insight into the workings of the world.
He met unexpected people and heard their intriguing stories. He came across numerous strange encounters and even participated in some of them. He essentially dipped into so many unique aspects of life that it came as no surprise that he had more than enough stories rattling around his head when it finally came time to write his first novel.
Not that many authors can claim to have been offered a chance to act as bodyguard to a drug dealer. Since getting his first book sold, though, Donald has finally settled in his career. The author loves writing novels and there is nothing he else he would rather be doing. The fact that he has found a way to make money out of his passion makes him one of the luckier individuals in the world.
By the time Donald Wells began writing as Remington Kane, he had already become established as a novelist with numerous thrillers under his name. However, writing as Remington practically took over his life.
This is because Donald has achieved more success writing as Remington Kane than he did producing novels under his real name. Kane is best known for the Tanner series of novels. Tanner is a hit man who accepts a job to take out a mob boss.
When he is betrayed and thrown into prison, Tanner thinks of little else besides getting revenge. And once he finally gets his freedom, the hit man becomes a one man army, engaging in a brutal way against a crime organization known as the Conglomerate.
Each new book sees Tanner raising the stakes by finding a new target that will sting the Conglomerate in ways they couldn’t possibly fathom.
Remington Kane has been praised for the Tanner novels because Tanner is such a refreshing hero. The protagonist is so average physically, devoid of the exaggerated traits that most action heroes seem to bear. If not for his natural fighting and survival instincts, one would be hard pressed to tell Tanner apart from any other ordinary man on the street.
Book Number 39 In The Series and It Just Keeps Getting Better!
“To Serve And Protect” finds “Cody Parker” working on the side of the law as a “volunteer” cop for his friend Chief Mendez, and as the author blurb states “trouble erupts”, as trouble always seems to do when “Cody” is around.
Now it’s time to “hold on” and enjoy the ride through 212 pages of thrilling pulp fiction.
“Henry Knight” our “Tanner in Training” is featured a bit more in this than he has in the past. This is also an exceptionally good thing.
I highly recommend this book to all lovers of “thrilling pulp fiction” as a “sanity saver”.
As a favor to his friend Sheriff Mendez Cody agrees to act as a volunteer deputy for the town festival. When gunfire breaks out and his apprentice, Henry, is almost run down by the robbers Tanned becomes involved. Tanned starts tracking bandits and finds there were two groups involved and the ones who got away with the town's money are being hunted and killed by the others. He also finds that he's got a bit placed on himself. In typical Tanned fashion he figures out what is going on and makes the bad guys pay dearly.
Needed to find an interesting series of stories! I found them with this imaginative writer! I read all 39 "Tanner" books! At 87 years of age I was able to escape into the stories and became a relaxed guy with the humor, characters, - - looking forward to my next series by Mr. Kane!!
Wrote my review - now how do I get it seen?
Thanks for listening!😎 It says 6 more words - okay? Bye for now!
Another great read Tanner is helping protect his town when a robbery occurs Tanner is asked o find the culprits with the help of Henry who proves he's listening to his mentor , nice to see Henry shaping up well .Well worth a read can't believe it will be book 40 next month proves it's a successful series .
Just another great story, interesting relationships and plenty of action. This is without a doubt, my favorite author and series. also enjoyed and miss the Taken series, but this is still #1. Read them, usually in one day......just cannot put them down. Keep ‘em coming.
Not surprised at all that this was another great book. But I'm especially excited to learn that the Taken series is back. I have been waiting and waiting for this series to start again and I have to say (What a great Christmas present). I am so excited to see what he has in store for us.
I know I sound like. A broken record but, you will never be disappointed by any of Mr. Kane’s books. They are so good they get you hooked in The first fee pages and make you feel like you are in the story rt next to Tanner. I’m really enjoying the story line of Tanner training his replacement. Thank you Mr. Kane.
Another fantastic book from Remington Kane, he is so talented and although this series has been won I have loved for a long time ,due to Remington Kane talent it is always fresh and keeps you wanting more. Thank you for always keeping fans anxious for the next story.
Tanner is working for free in this story as an auxiliary cop. When the town’s fair is invaded by robbers, his work load gets heavier. Bad guys and bad guys looking for bad guys and bad guys looking for Tanner create an great, fast-paced tale.
As always, Mr Kane's Tanner novels are a "Can't put down" book until you either read the whole thing in one night or fall asleep with it opened in your lap! But you never willingly stop reading it.
I go way back with Tanner I love the series and always am waiting for the next book I have read many books by Remington Kane and am rarely disappointed thanks for creating and writing. I highly recommend his books.
Typical Tanner story, which means a lot of action and expertise in the assassin business. Interesting way to start the tale and a little confusing on its ending, but worth the read.
Tanner thinks life’s going to settle down after his last assignment. That would be wrong. He can’t even leave town and he is needed, as well as Henry getting to train and learn as he gets to take the next step towards being a Tanner.
I love Remington Kane and I hope he never stops writing because his books are exciting and his story lines are the best !! Thank you and please keep it up
Not really a typical Tanner story but I enjoyed it completely. I have read the complete series and they are all good. This starts with Tanner working on the side of law and order and goes on from there. I like the progress Tanner Eight is making as well. Recommended.
It took me a while to warm up to Tanner. Growing up in NYC and Long Island I was fairly familiar with the Mob from the news and my father’s cab business. Not nice people one step removed from devils. But Tanner is a man of principle and his “contracts” are nasties. Would make a good series on TV or a movie or two or three. Picking a Tanner 7 would be a task. Looking forward to the next one hoping Henry comes along.
A good read- superhero Tanner morally cleanses USA of nasties in an unbeatable way, barely believable but thrillingly compelling leaving the reader searching for the next in the series
I Like Tanner and look forward to reading more,a refreshing alternative to Reacher.Particularly like the £00 price from Amazon!Dr Baz
