A Fun Romance The romance opens with Luke standing on a narrow concrete block, looking between steel girders to get a peek at Mary through the construction site’s office window. When the foreman sees him spying on the crew’s pretty office manager, Luke cautiously moves away on the narrow beam and the crew begins calling him “Twinkle Toes”. Luke has a fear of heights and didn’t know when he took the concrete mason job he’d be working on a high rise structure.
Unbeknownst to Luke, Mary is also checking him out, but can’t imagine the well-built Luke would be interested in her. She notices his tattoo and discovers he served in the Navy, like her father.
Luke thinks if he can overcome his clumsiness, he’ll be better equipped to tread the steel beams and not be constantly ridiculed by his co-workers. He enlists his sister, an acrobatic instructor, to give him dancing lessons.
Luke and Mary silently lust for each other until Luke invites himself to have dinner with her and her father at a rehab center where her father is a patient. Things between them heat up when she has car problems on the way home. Even after recognizing the chemistry between them and wanting to spend private time together, things keep getting in their way.
Luke’s co-workers play a prank on him and trick Luke into applying for a spot on a calendar of hot construction workers. In order to receive serious consideration to be included, the calendar’s producer requests that shy Luke entertain at a nightclub. Will his dancing lessons give him the confidence to perform? And will Luke and Mary ever be able to move their relationship past lustful desires?
