I have loved to write since I first picked up a pen, probably because I read such a lot. Stories popped into my brain like fireworks and I loved to capture them. Nothing has changed. I fell in love with sci-fi as a teenager and devoured everything I could lay my hands on from Jules Verne to Isaac Asimov. Sadly then, I had to get a job so my writing was put on hold. After career and a family I returned to it, like a duck to water. With the benefit of more experience and far more books I'd hoovered up in the meantime, I couldn't wait to get back to writing. I joined a creative writing class to get the muscles working and soon I was back there, living in my fantasy world. I began to be placed in competitions at the local writers' society and had my work published in magazines and on public display. I even won third place in an international writing competition and had a poem dramatised in the theatre. Added to that, I wanted to capture the pictures I could see in my head, so I also took up art again, something I also loved at school. This has allowed me to collaborate with local art centres, exhibiting my work. I work with libraries and bookshops. Best of all I visit schools (when I can), and see how the children love my books. Who knows where it will lead from here. Life couldn't be more exciting!
