Coming Together #2

Tips and Tricks to Trap My Boss

Rate this book
He's rich. He's powerful. He's gorgeous. And he's my boss...

Men like Rafe McCarthy never change.

Privileged playboys who party hard and date even harder--if you can call that revolving door of actresses and models "dating." It's my job to wake him up, sober him up, and send him into his meetings at the family pharmaceutical corporation more or less on time.

Meanwhile, I'm spending every cent and spare second taking care of my family. It's probably because I'm so distracted that I accidentally swap our phones--and get notified of an appointment I most definitely did not make for him. Turns out Rafe has been keeping a few secrets beneath that artfully disheveled suit... like a heart of gold.

Just when I thought he couldn't get any hotter.

Obviously I can't be held responsible for my actions after that. Not for making out with him in my kitchen. Or for insisting he include me in his secret mission. Or for making out with him again. And all that led to. Or for...

Okay, I definitely know better than to fall for my boss. Oops. This book was previously published under the title Come On.

4 Star review Come On (Coming Together #2) by Poppy Dunne

Poppy Dunne is a new author to me and I am surprised I have not come across her before. This is Rafe and Tessa’s story; they have worked together for years and even though she has done everything for him, she has no idea of the secrets he has been keeping.

After an accidental switching of phones, Rafe’s secrets are discovered by Tessa and in doing so she is put at risk. There is so much more to Rafe than just the playboy persona that he exudes. Although Tessa has been in lust with him for a while, she has no idea of the caring man he has been hiding; all it does is make her want him more.

I was on the edge of my seat at times reading this one and I loved how their relationship developed. The banter between Rafe and Tessa was witty and there were numerous times that I found myself laughing out loud. The chemistry and attraction that build between them was intense. The addition of the mystery and suspense gave the story an extra layer and was an one I really enjoyed.

I have missed the sassy, sarcastic writing of Poppy Dunne. I am so glad that she is back and with just the right prescription for these tired, sad eyes.
Tessa has all the balls in the air - working full time, taking care of her father, helping her sister and nephew and all while suffering from a lust for her boss, her very narcissistic playboy of a boss.
Rafe is your typical playboy billionaire. He has his pick of any model/actress any given night of the week. He has no worries as his assistant Tessa keeps him on schedule and his office running like clock work. Under the cover of the mask he wears, there may be so much more than we see at first glance.
When Tessa accidentally takes Rafe's phone instead of her own, she is afforded a glance to this other side of Rafe and to she is intrigued is putting it mildly.
If you are in the mood for something that is sassy, sarcastic, and still holds an air of mystery, this romance is for you.

Tessa is a woman who is trying to balance the demands of her family along with the demands of her boss. She has worked for Rafe for a few years now and she believes that she knows him but she about to question if she ever really knew him at all.

Rafe is a man who appreciates the way that Tessa manages his work life and he is know for his way with the ladies however that is just part of the picture. Let the mayhem begin!

Romance, intrigue and whole lotta fun.

This is the first time I've read a book by the author and I really enjoyed this amazingly written rom-com! This book is filled with hilarious, laugh out loud moments, witty banter, and the right amount of steam. The sexual tension between Rafe and Tessa bleeds through the pages. I think this book has the perfect amount of everything. Totally worth the read!

Poppy Dunne books are always fun. There is always at least one moment that makes me laugh hard enough that I read the passage to my husband. He usually laughs, and he did this time as well. So, I guess her books are funny enough to even make grumpy husbands laugh.

Tessa and Rafe were one of those couples you just enjoy reading about. Their connection was real, and I believed in them as a couple. I definitely believed in their reactions and their interactions with one another and in relation to the situations they find themselves in.

I did think the resolution to the story outside of the romance was a little quick. I think I felt that the issue in the background of the romance was maybe a little more serious, or bigger, than it felt in the story.

However, it's definitely a bright spot in 2020 to have a new Poppy Dunne on my Kindle. I enjoyed and recommend this title.

Office romances seem to be a dime a dozen. Every once in a while, however, you come across one that blows you away. ℂ𝕠𝕞𝕖 𝕆𝕟 by Poppy Dunne was one of those for me.

Everything about this book made me happy. The witty banter, the chemistry, the plot. I laughed...SO HARD at some parts. I was expecting more contemporary than romcom but I'm not complaining because it was adorable.

I loved Tessa and her quirky rambling. She cracked me up with her thoughts. She was honest and forthcoming and that girl had a backbone! I loved Rafe too. He acted one way but there was a much deeper layer beneath his facade that was both endearing and sexy AF. His inner thoughts were just as hilarious as Tessa's. The way he felt about her from the beginning was SWOON-WORTHY, y'all.

But like most males, he did everything he could to "protect" Tessa during the story so he made some mistakes. Luckily, Tessa was intuitive and understood his choices (which is SO refreshing to read) and so the drama/angst wasn't that bad.

The plot was something I've seen many times, but between the witty commentary, the cute conversations, and the sexy times I absolutely LOVED this story. The ending felt more like a HFN, but that's also another refreshing ending instead of a big romantic gesture. It felt...real, and every once in a while I appreciate that. It may have been a HFN ending, but deep down I know it's their HEA.

I think I'm having a super low serotonin moment, so this didn't hit the way it should've with the nerdiness and quipping and the dirty, but that's okay, because this verbal beat down still exists:

"Do you like Tamora Pierce?" I grin. "She was my favourite author when I was a kid."
"I." He was clearly expecting me to say something—anything—else, and blinks. "What?"
"She writes fantasy for young adults. She pioneered the genre back when girls didn't have any kick-butt action heroes the way boys did. My favourite character of hers is Alanna, this spunky, tomboyish girl who wants to be a knight. She has to hide her gender while she trains, but in the end the prince chooses her as his squire. Do you read?"
"The occasional, that is, I...is there a point to this?"
"Yes." I take my reading glasses out of my purse and slide them on. I don't need them to see regularly, but I think they give me a school librarian type of look, transforming me into the kind of woman no one messes with. "When you need to get a job done, don't let sexist traditions stand in your way."

Poppy Dunne what have you done?  Come on is the first book of standalone reads in the Coming Together series. This book is a brilliant office romance that was undeniably perfect.  The storyline was distinctive and stimulating and kept me entertained.  The banter between Tessa and Rafe was over the top, laugh out loud funny and I loved both character’s personalities.  What an incredible story! Come On was sexy and charming and a real page turner.  I can’t wait to read Come Again and Come Over, the other books in the series.  5-stars for Come On by Poppy Dunne.

Tessa has been the glue that holds her boss Rafe together for the last five years.  Making sure he is on time for meetings and arranging everything from dry cleaning to dates with super models, she is his rock.  Accidently getting her phone mixed up with Rafe’s, she suddenly sees a whole other side to her boss.  Rafe has a secret and it’s huge, and dangerous and needs to be taken care of.  Tessa finding out this secret puts her at risk, but he can’t deny that he needs her help.  Together Tessa and Rafe turn up the heat, not only in the office, but in the bedroom too.

This is the first book I have read by Poppy Dunne but it certainly won’t be the last because after reading Tessa and Rafe’s story I’m left wondering why she hasn’t crossed my radar before now.
Tessa and Rafe have worked together for a few years, she has always made sure her boss with a playboy image got to his meetings on time and read up on what needed doing but after a accidental switching of phones, Tessa starts to see the real man behind the playboy image.....
Rafe hides behind the image bestowed upon him by others but the real man is so very different he is kind and caring and he wants the best for his family business....
This book ticked all my boxes, I was captivated from the first page and I was kept on the edge of my seat until the last page, I laughed and I smiled as I got to know this adorable couple, the chemistry they share is sizzling and the witty banter flows so naturally, the mystery and suspense added another level to this great read. Looking forward to reading more from this very talented author

Tessa is holding her life together barely while also being the only thing keeping her boss Rafe from being a total failure at his job. Tessa has worked for Rafe for years. She keeps his schedule making sure he is on time for meetings and even making sure he can keep his dates straight. An accidental phone swap Rafe, suddenly shows Tessa a whole other side to her boss.
Rafe is keeping secrets and it’s huge, and dangerous. Tessa finding out this secret puts her at risk, but he can’t deny that he needs her help. Together Tessa and Rafe turn up the heat, not only in the office, but in the bedroom.

Poppy Dunne is a new to me author, and I'm sitting here scratching my head that she's not been on my radar already but better late than never. Rafe is the ultimate sexy, rich playboy, who Tessa basically takes care of as his personal assistant. The things she's done to keep him together could be over the top. Tessa does have some secret feelings for him but the things she's witnessed keeping his life together made her realize that he's not for her. However, when their phones get mixed up, she learns that there's more to Rafe than his playboy ways, and all of sudden, she's thinking about things again. They do have some hilarious interactions with each other, the chemistry does throw off  quite a few sparks as the attraction grew, and I also found myself laughing more than once. Come On was a great story that I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

I have never read anything from this author before. This book was a great lighter office romance read. There was the perfect amount of drama and steam. I thought it was an interesting take on company corruption and family drama. Mo’ money Mo’ problems..
Rafe was sexy sin in a suit. Lusting after his assistant for five years.. Tessa is everything you need in the perfect assistant and then some., if only she didn’t have a crush on her hot boss. What happens when you mix business with pleasure?
I loved this book.. I loved the flirty banter, and quick wit.. the steam and sexy chemistry between these two.. I laughed and giggled. It was a good romcom and I am excited to read more from this author..

I love office romances. So much in fact that I try to read as many as I can get my hands on. In doing this I have come across some new fabulous authors and this just happens to be the case with Come On and Poppy Dunne.
I giggled myself practically silly reading Rafe and Tessa’s story. The banter between these two was simply outstanding. Five years of working together and finally acting on their feelings came naturally. Add in a little suspense and drama and I honestly couldn’t stop reading this story until I reached the ending in one entire sitting.
As you can probably tell I will definitely be reading more from this author in the future. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.

*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.

Oh boy is this book steamy!! We meet Rafe part of a really rich family and general lazy person. For the last five years Tessa has been his assistant keeping him mostly on schedule and focused on his tasks. Both have a secret longing for the other that totally explodes in this book making for some scenes that make you need a fan. His hidden secret comes out making them work together in secret making things come to a head. Makes for a fantastic romance that you will not want to put down. I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.

Come On is the first book in the Coming Together series by Poppy Dunne..

This book is about Rafe McCarthey. He is a rich, powerful, good looking, a total playboy and the boss of Tessa. She has been working for him for five years, is his right hand and he doesn’t know what he would do without her. One day by accident their phones got switched and then he got a message for a mysterious meeting. Guess her boss has some secrets and it looks like she gets to know them because he is taking her with him.

Come On is my first read of Poppy Dune and it was so good! I haven’t read an office romance in a while so I really enjoyed it! I loved the banter between Tessa and Rafe and from the very first chapter they have this chemistry you can’t deny! I laughed a lot and I love the sexy moments they share. I love her sister and her nephew! They are hilarious! Gah! This book is amazing and I really can’t wait to read the next book! Definitely a must read!

I haven’t read this author before but I am glad I took a chance on this story..the blurb caught my attention and I am happy that the story held it.
Tessa is Rafe's assistant..and while she has a crush on him, a man like Rafe isn't exactly made for one woman, if you know what I mean..
A freak accident where their phones get switched allows Tessa a look into Rafe's secrets..and she sees another side to him..
I love these two..their banter is amazing and the chemistry is scorching..I loved how the story develops and I was truly entertained!

Steamy Office Intrigue.
I love the first scenes at the men's club. It shows how seriously Tessa takes her job.
She makes sure Rafe is where he needs to be.

I don't understand how anyone can be as cruel as Rafe's father. He goes out of his way to torment Rafe for things he has no control over.

I enjoyed the party scenes toward the end. Sometimes a plan just comes together.
Read this now and find out for yourself.

Sarcastic, sassy and steamy, Come On is a hilarious read.

Batman channeling billionaire hero? Ass kicking self saving heroine? Just add a white Persian cat villain? The dullest of spoons evil lackey? A Secret ninja spy mission? Sexy sex scenes? You don’t get a more perfect story than that.

5 stars and a coup.

Fun and steamy aspects that felt very rom-com, but it was really brought down by the fact that there were zero consequences for the villains of this story ─ proving once again if you have power and money the rules/laws don't apply to you ─ so that negated the enjoyment of the rest of the story for me; otherwise it would have been a fun read.

Rafe is the sexy as hell playboy screw up boss (or is he) who has always had the hots for Tessa his sexy and witty assistant. Tessa has always had the hots for boss not that she would ever act on them she has been keeping his schedule and waking him up and making sure he gets to work for years while Rafe plays up his playboy ways. Then one day Tessa finds out the truth and their relationship completely changes. The sexual tension between these two bleeds through the pages. I love how both Rafe and Tessa underestimated one another especially Rafe about Tessa. This was a great storyline and plot. The sex scenes were absolute fire full of passion and fire and I loved the banter between Rafe and Tessa. There was also great supporting characters. Complete must read.
