A Holiday Heart

Rate this book
On the verge of starting her own company—and a fling with the hot star of a TV saga—Atlanta film makeup artist Ashlyn Jennings is willed a mysterious box containing a key from her grandmother’s estate. Mamie Lou, the former Hollywood B-lister who inspired Ashlyn’s path in life, always demonstrated a flair for the dramatic. But did Mamie Lou really expect her to put everything on hold to clean out a mountain cabin no one even knew about? And right at Christmas?

When Ashlyn arrives at White Falls Lodge armed with cosmetic bags and designer shoes, little is she prepared to be stranded by a snow storm, irritated by the handsome resort owner who seems determined to peel away her facade, and redirected by a God Ashlyn wants to forget, through Mamie Lou’s real gift … the secret story of her grandmother’s past.

I really enjoyed this special romance set in the mountains of Georgia. It has excitement, a bit of mystery, a strong hero and a wonderful spiritual element. We see how God is always faithful, even when it sometimes doesn’t seem that way to us.

A Holiday Heart by Denise Weimer is a perfectly delightful contemporary Christian tale that will warm your heart. It is part of the Georgia Peaches series but can be read as a stand-alone.
The novel concerns the legacy that we leave. A legacy is so much more than material goods. We see a grandmother’s legacy of love as she left behind memories, life lessons and final wishes. The love radiates outwards encompassing the reader. The grandmother is deeply missed by all those whose lives she touched. She lives on through them.
The action is set within the countryside in log cabins in the lead up to Christmas. It is here that a character comes alive, realising her potential and the plan that God has for her life.
Life may have been hard in the past and a character turned their back on God blaming Him for the losses in life. But God never gave up pursuing a heart that was once His. A grandmother’s legacy is to open a heart to see the goodness of God.
The setting is delightful and comes to life under Denise Weimer’s masterful pen. The reader ‘walks’ through the novel ‘seeing’ the landscapes in our mind’s eye.
I adore all Denise Weimer’s novels. A Holiday Heart is just perfect to read in the lead up to Christmas or indeed at any time of year to let a little Christmas love and a huge legacy of love into your life.
I received this book for free. A favourable review was not required and all views expressed are my own.

A Holiday Heart is the perfect read for this time of year. It's a short novella that doesn't take long to read and it has all of the feels that we associate with "the most wonderful time of the year!" Oh, believe me, it isn't all light and sweetness. In fact, there are some touching moments that may require tissues but their realism makes this story even more enjoyable. Ashlyn feels as though God let her down. "You can do everything God wants and it doesn't mean that life will work out. The only way to make sure that something works out is to do it yourself because He doesn't deliver what He promises!" Ashlyn is shown that God does care and seeing her spiritual growth is truly beautiful to see!

The wonderful descriptive powers of author Denise Weimer allowed me to see the lodge and Mamie's cabin set among beautiful Georgia scenery and I loved the memories of Mamie and the interaction between Ashlyn, Jake, and Evelyn. This is a lovely, heartwarming novella and I recommend it to all who enjoy contemporary Christian romance.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. A favorable review wasn't required and there was no monetary compensation given. These are my own thoughts.

What a fun, contemporary Christmas novella! I really liked the setting at the lodge and cabin at Christmastime. It made for a cozy read.

Ashlyn and Jake were both interesting characters. Ashlyn experienced a lot of emotional and spiritual growth throughout the novella. She began the story as a fairly jaded person who had been wounded in the past. She had a worldly perspective about what was important in life. I liked seeing Ashlyn’s heart and entire demeanor soften as she spent time with Jake and learned more about her Mamie’s life experiences.

I definitely recommend A Holiday Heart for those looking for an uplifting Christmas themed story.

Another great book from Denise Weimer! Ashlyn Jennings is a film makeup artist from Atlanta who must clean out her late grandmother's mountain cabin around Christmastime. She doesn't understand why her grandmother, a former actress, would want her to clear out this cabin in the middle of nowhere that no one in the family knew about. The reasons become clearer when she meets the owner of the resort where the cabin is located and her grandmother's former best friend. Although she is reeling from a fling with a film star, Ashlyn finds herself attracted to the resort's owner and feelings fly. Will Ashlyn be able to see the gifts that God has put in front of her or will she go back to Atlanta for fame and fortune?

A fun Christmas romance! Ashlyn heads to her deceased grandmother's cabin to clean out her effects and meets Jake, the resort owner. I love Ashlyn's character arc as she discovers who she is and what she really wants in life. I enjoyed the connections that she made with her her grandmother Mamie. Things toward the end seemed a little rushed - I would have loved to see a little more of the relationship develop between Ashlyn and Jake. But all in all, a cute, fun romance!

I received a complimentary copy of this book but my opinions are my own.

Sweet romance

Stellar, absorbing, and intriguing! Jake and Ashlyn are a couple you’ll find yourself cheering for in “A Holiday Heart!” Jake is super like-able, and the more I got to know Ashlyn, the more I could totally relate to her. The log cabin setting tucked away in the Georgia mountains pulled me right into this mystery romance unfolding during the Christmas holiday season. I loved the story of God’s grace chasing Ashlyn down. Another must read and five stars from the Georgia Peaches series!
