Claimed by the Hero by Yahrah St John
The Mitchell Brothers series book 1. Contemporary romance. Second chance.
Savannah and Caden had a relationship years ago that Caden thought was serious. But when Savannah disappeared without a goodbye or a reason why thrown his way, Caden moved on and into politics as he’d always planned. A surprise encounter puts Savannah and Caden back together there’s more to that backstory then he knew at the time. Can the two now get over the hurt and move forward together?

Angst, deception and secret baby with a disability make this story heavy and drama ridden though the intro with them young and in love was quite a way to be dropped into a story. Aka sexy beginning. Though successful now, Savannah let’s old insecurities rule while Caden needs a reality check. It’s not same ole anymore and he needs to make some changes. They eventually figure things out for their hea since this is a romance but it’s a bumpy ride.

Just ok.👏🏾🔥👏🏾🔥👏🏾🔥

Thought it would be better, but something just seemed off to me. The characters were likable, but the angst seemed forced and nonsensical. Also to write a series with a military theme and exclude the Marines seems sacrilegious to me. Just sayin'..

With caveats, buy it, read it and enjoy.👍🏾🔥👍🏾🔥👍🏾🔥

Savannah and Cayden and a second chance romance should have worked for me, but it fell a little flat. It could be due to the secret baby angle which is not a favorite of mine, but I think it had to do more with a lack of true spark between the characters. I never felt an emotional connection and thus the angst and drama dominated the story. I dislike feeling at the end of a book that I wasn’t invested in the characters making it work.

I liked the son and thought special care was given to his disability most of the time. If you remove him from the story, I don’t think these two characters have sticking power.

this is a second chance, hidden pregnancy, marriage of convenience romance.
premise: Savannah and Caden met at West Point and fell in love. Savannah disappeared for 10 years and shows back up at one of Caden's fundraisers for Governor of Maryland. Caden sees her and makes contact. Soon after, Caden learns the secret Savannah been keeping for 11 years. Caden and Savannah decide to marry to help his campaign.

I thought the book was cool even though some plot points weren't well developed, imo. for instance, Savannah showing up to the fundraiser makes no sense if she had no intention of making contact or telling Caden about his son. Caden was blissfully unaware that Savannah was living in Maryland or that he even had a son. so her attending the fundraiser made no sense. their reunion needed better development. Also, Caden not knowing where Savannah was for 10 years is illogical given technology. it wasn't like Savannah changed her name or was living off the grid. there is no way he shouldn't have been able to find her if his heart pined for her so much. there should've been some verbiage to address this issue.

overall this was an easy read. finished the book in one sitting.

Claimed by the Hero is the first book in The Mitchell Brothers series. Caden Mitchell, a decorated veteran who is enjoying a successful political career, met Savannah Vasquez a few months before his West Point graduation. Savannah has aspirations of helping people by becoming a nurse. Caden made Savannah laugh and Caden was just thrilled by Savannah. That’s why he was shocked when she left without a trace, leaving him wondering what happened.

More than a decade later, Caden is still single and has plenty women who are drawn to his confidence and swagger. His mother tries to play matchmaker but no one can hold a candle to the one that got away.

Savannah and Caden reconnect by chance. They are drawn to each other all over again. His dark, soulful, eyes still have the same impact. Their attraction and physical chemistry remains strong, but Caden is shocked about some life changing news Savannah reveals.

This is a second chance story with a twist, which adds much more depth to the plot. There are bumps in the road, but also some very touching scenes with Caden and his family. This was a great start to this series.

2.5ish
This story was anti-climatic. She was insecure and unconfident. He is army vet now politician from a “well to do” family. This is a second chance romance and marriage of convenience( sort of). He was on the tail end of his time at West Point. He pursued her, they fell in love and she disappeared.
12 years later she shows up and his campaign fundraiser. Why? He spots her and the energy that they held for each other is no longer memory it’s palpable. He purses her again but this time he wants to know why she disappeared. And the answer he gets he couldn’t imagine if he tried. This story was not fleshed out. It was a bit boring. The foundation was there but it had no building on top of it, it stayed flat. She runs when she gets scared or someone tells her she’s not good enough and he says the right words but has no actions behind them. The marriage of convenience part of the story was very thin he needed her but she put no thought into her life or her sons when she agreed to it. I guess she mad a selfish decision it was what she thought she wanted. I’m. It sure. Any way give this book a try if you like second chance romances you might like it.

First and foremost, I recommend you read this book and judge for yourself. It was ok, but I skimmed through some of it.

I am so tired of romance novels where the female lead feels like she isn't good enough to be with the H. I am so tired of the male lead not admitting he loves the h for whatever reason. I am so tired of the stories where the parental units are manipulative and the children just fall in line. I am so tired of the manipulating woman who tries to the H away from the h. I did appreciate the storyline about Liam.

This book gives you all three, plus other issues. It may be that I am just not in the mood for all of the angst and drama at this point in time. There is an HEA, but by the time I got there, I didn't care.

I listened to the audio book which had a male narrator who I thought did a good job.

Audiobook Review:
Overall – 3.5 rounded up to 4
Performance – 3.5
Story – 3.5

I don’t read a lot of M/F titles these day as I prefer to read M/M. This was a good story but it also reminded me of why I prefer M/M. There was a bit too much alpha male for me even though the female lead was a very strong and capable woman.

If you enjoy a good and very sexy M/F romance this might be a good book for you. I’m not letting my preference for M/M affect my rating for this book. It is a good story, with interesting characters and two popular romance tropes: secret baby and second chance.

The narration by Leon Nixon was pretty good. I don’t think I’ve listened to him before and wouldn’t object to listening to other titles by him.

Good book. Two👍's up

Truly enjoyed Caden and Savannah's story. Second chances with the love of your life is a beautiful, special joy. I do wish their opportunity to meet again had come sooner for the sake of Liam, because every son should have a chance to bond with his father, especially a man of such honor 🎖as Caden. I have to say I am VERY thrilled by the location (Maryland) and the military aspect since I am from Maryland and have loads of military family members ( including my husband). Thank you for this beautiful book Mrs. St.John.!! Looking forward to Cage's love story next.

Excellent Read!

When I first started reading this book I worried that it would be the same story as many others-long lost lover of an up and coming political candidate comes around to throw the campaign in chaos. Yes, this was the story but instead of the emphasis of the story being on the campaign, as most of these stories go, it was on the relationship between the candidate Caden, his lost love Savannah and their child, Liam. What was even better was how the author expertly handled the story sub plot of a child on the autism spectrum. This was a fantastic read and I can’t wait to see how Cage and Cameron are handled.

Beautiful story., the second time around.

This was a good romance story about Caden and Savannah. They met while he was attending West Point. Camilla thought she knew what was best for her son and ran Savannah away but unbeknownst to his mom Savannah was pregnant. Now eleven years later, Caden discovers he has a son who is autistic. There are ups and downs as they rediscover each other. Additional situations because Caden is running for Governor. Interference in their relationship by an outsider and learning forgiveness and trust. I thought this book was well developed, I am not sure about Cage and Cameron's girlfriend. Ready for next installment.

Second Chances ❤️

I enjoyed this second chance love story . Before I ask about the two main character , let me say Liam stole my heart ❤️. I truly loved Savanah and Caden .although I must admit Caden worked my nerves on occasion with his stubbornness. I really had hoped Savanah would stand her ground a little better when she encounter Natalie. I realize that her self confidence had been broken down by her mom and others that she felt close too so she caved I was glad that Caden finally admitted to his true feelings about her allowing them to move forward.

I look forward to reading Cage’s story

I Love Second Chances

Caden and Savannah's story is one of my favorite tropes, second chances. They met and fell in love while Caden was attending West Point, but due to someone's interference, Savannah left. About 11 years later, they are in the same city and come face to face at a fundraiser. Soon after Caden finds out he has a son and convinces Savannah to marry him. Caden is fighting his love for Savannah and Savannah is trying to fit into Caden's world. It doesn't help that someone is vying for Caden's attention putting their love to the test.

Claimed by the Hero

This was a love story about Savannah Vasquez and Caden Mitchell. They met while he was at West Point and she in nursing school. It was love at first sight but she realized with help from his mother that they came from different worlds. Because Savannah felt she didn't belong in his world she disappeared. Twelve years later they reconnect which leads to their happily ever after.

I love books about reunited couples and I loved Caden and Savannah's story. They had lots of ups and downs and interference in their renewed relationship but the made it through to get their happily ever after. And I'm so glad Liam has a chance to get to know his dad. Can't wait to read about the other brothers. 🙂🙂

Good read

Second chance romance is always a favorite and Claimed by the Hero is an enjoyable expression of that. I found it to be a heartwarming and sensuous read with just the right amount of drama and heat.

After that teaser about the next brother in the series, I am anxiously awaiting the next book in the series.

This was a great second chance romance. I love military men and I love strong women who do what they must do to survive. The mother was a little interesting but I had to find it in my heart to forgive her misguided ways. I really enjoyed this series and am looking forward to reading the next in series.

This book was good. I enjoyed the book. I definitely understand why Savannah left without telling him because his mother was nosy. But I'm happy that Caden never gave up he had for her. That girl Natalie was a jealous heifer. This book was a Second Chance love story. I was happy that they found each other.

Good read

Good read, I enjoyed the characters and storyline. Caden and Savannah reconnected after twelve years. Caden discovered he Savannah had a son together. This caused fear and trust issues between them. Once they expressed their real feelings love conquered all.

Interference

I loved Caden and Savanah's story of finding love, losing it and finding it again. In spite of interference love will find a way. Liam was smart and way beyond his years. Caden dodged a bullet with Natalee. They never even dated and she became obsessed. Wow

Awesome book

Because I have other books by Yahrah St.John and love them there are only two things that I don't like how his mom broke them up12 years before and how Natlee tried doing it after they were married

With all of the ups and downs in Cadan and Savannah's relationships the person that stole my heart was Mrs. Mitchell her apology and the way she helped Savannah with the party.

Another great book

It was an excellent well written story. Caden and Savannah are that perfect couple whose love never died. Learning to appreciate each other is an obstacle that most couples go through but trust and love will see you through.

The Hard Way

I love second chance romance stories. Yahrah touched on all emotions, dealing with self esteem, meddling parents, autism, politics, and fear. Can't wait to read the next Mitchell brothers story.

Second Chance At Love

Caden and Savannah both never stopped loving each other.
Having a mother that meddled was so wrong for their relationship.
Natalee was a true bitch who thought she was all of that.
Congratulations on a great story about second chance.
