This story isn't my usual cup of tea - I'm not much for angsty men or even the faith-based inspirational approach in my reading. Ended up not liking Suleiman for much of the story because of that, to be honest... But the author writes a compelling story; I so wanted to know what happened to make Zaarah move to Bahrain, why everyone had turned their backs on her. Let me add she is way more forgiving than I am, LOL!
But Dhishna writes an engaging tale, and the descriptions of the UAE make you feel as if you are there - it's obvious this author knows what she is writing about, and you can also see so much of her, of her convictions, of her faith, in this narrative.
It was a quick read for me as I got through it in about an afternoon, so if you want escape and love angsty love stories on the backdrop of faith, then this is one for you

Indeed between the pages of a book is a lovely place to be🌸 I've finally finished reading Bereft by @dhishna_writes  last night and it deserves all the stars⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I'm in awe with the spectacular plot, the descriptions about Bahrain and Dubai and the heartwrenching tale of Zaarah and Suleiman.
I love the way Zaarah thinks and the backstory of each protagonists. This helped me in better understanding them and their decisions. How they decided to give their relationship a second chance and how they overcame each and every obstacle in their lives. The twists and turns were simply mindblowing.

Finished this book, Bereft in just a few days.
I really appreciate the words and expressions used by the writer. The book gives a great example on TRUST. Trust is the main thing in a couple’s life which should be above anything. The book also reveals about the life in Dubai including its food and beautiful places which makes you feel that you are actually visiting dubai. Not to forget how the writer beautifully describes the culture, awesome places & yummiest foods of Mauritius. Feeling really proud being a mautitian as well as a Muslimah. This book made me realise many things i might have messed up in the past. And wherever a person is indeed he shall return to Almighty. I totally recommend this book and i give 10/10. Please do leave behind a review for the author. ❤️❤️❤️

This was a wonderful, intriguing story. The author is very descriptive and imaginative with their words. They weaved together a story unlike any others on the market. I've never been to Dubai, but they way the author described the city, it makes me want to travel there one day. This was a story built upon love, trust, fear and courage. I highly recommend this book for those wishing to whisk away to another place, country and city to escape their own for awhile and take a journey to a place full of culture and wonderment.

Dhishna has well crafted and planned the chapters. What has striked me the most is the use of common words like 'Inshallah' and the way the characters give blessings to each other. As a muslim, i do these a lot in my spoken language and I could connect easily with the book from the beginning till the end of my reading. This is probably what makes this fiction looks more real.  If you are a bookworm like me, you should definitely grab this book. Even if you don't like fiction, believe me this book will have your full attention. Sending blessing and light to you and your family Dhishna.❤

I really enjoyed reading the story, the author made an intrigue which you want to discover... to me, that was a perfect paradigmatic description of codependent relationships which turning into nightmare in most of the cases. But- with faith in your heart, having trust the God wishes, proper prayers, -you can heal all the traumas and overcome all the obstacles. Beautiful story! Recommended for reading!

This was a different type of read for me as well as a new author. I was not sure what to expect going in. I am glad to say I was not disappointed. The tale Dhishna contructed was nothing short of amazing. I have been to Dubai on travels and with the vivid details from the author I felt as if I was back there. The story itself was filled with so drama, detail, courage and faith. Zaarah is truly a woman of strength. I look forward to more work from this author.

The story stands for the title as the reader is constantly reminded of the meaning of "Bereft". As we go deep in the story, we notice that each character is missing out on something in their lives. The essence of never forgetting your native is very unique. You kept on bringing forward the 'mauritianity'. Good work Dhishna.

Inspiring Story!
I always read books as an escape from this world but this one kept me awake on reality! Throughout the whole story, there has been lessons to learn, either on cultures, Islam or the basics of relationships. I am a bit sensitive to male domination and violence, but I am glad I read it till the end. It was worth it!

The book is really a good read. Precise and a simple story to say, but it can sometimes influence people. The detailed description of places from time to time made me feel the reality. I can already imagine the place just from the description. The story was indeed engaging. Even if people may not stumble upon characters like Suleiman often, to be honest, there are women who may have experienced the feelings that Zaarah experienced. Dhishna wrote an engaging story.
